Since no one even read the last post of page 153 on the "Warriors Orochi 3 [v3]" topic, I copied and pasted it here so you can't ignore it: Oh yeah, I just remember something. I forgot to ask you guys way back before the game came out on the PS3, but do you guys know a game called Patapon 2 on PSP? When it came out in the states, it's only a digital download for one year but it was sold in stores. There was a case and instruction manual, but no UMD inside. Inside of the case was a voucher to download it on PSN. Would it make sense if Koei done this for the PS3 users in the US? That way, some people would be happy they at least get an physical case and manual for the game, just no disc. I think this would be a good idea, but this is my opinion. I need to know what you guys think. |

what? that would cost Koei extra money for the case and manual manufacturing. That voucher thing but no disk is so uncommon that most companies wouldn't do such a thing, it still doesn't change the fact it's a digital release. And manuals / how to play guides can easily be found online. So just having some case that won't even hold a disk is money wasted on Koei's part and won't help boost sales. the people that prefer disk release would still rant about it, and then you have digital release fans getting upset because they have to go all the way to the store for the voucher, or wait, they can just buy it from PSN directly anyways, but yea just manual and case isn't going to convince people to buy it. People might as well import if they want a case and manual that badly. |

It... really doesn't need its own topic, though. The reason no one replied to it is probably because no one thought it was a good idea. It's likely to just cause confusion, and it's more inconvenient for both the consumer and for Koei. Like saner said, it would just cost Koei money. The game does give you a manual (if you press the PS button while the game is on?) so it's not like people are just running blind, you just don't have a physical one. And those who want a physical manual and case can always import. It's not that big of a deal. |

@saner True, but it is a least cheaper than English VA. Plus, it doesn't break Sony's rule because it's still a digital download. And your right in a way, companies hardly ever do this because most games come in English VA anyway. Only Patapon 2 did this for some reason I don't know. And what guides? I can't find any cause the game is so niche (Maybe I need to look harder). I read comments on other sites (Not just this one) and I kept hearing people complaining about they want an physical case and manual for the game. Some people would be happy they have a case and manual for it as long as they don't complain that there's no disc. The only cons I think of about this is stores would have to stop selling it eventually cause they expire by time and can be stolen somehow. Or better idea, people don't have to go to the store to get the voucher. It should only be sold on online retailers like Amazon. Importing is expensive. You may get the physical disc for the game, but you can't get DLC as you need EU PSN cards and a EU PSN account. I only import games that don't use DLC. @Komatsu Well, I thought it's on the last page so no one would actually see it. Also, I don't want to post it again on the same topic otherwise it would be considered spam and it's not related to what others are currently talking about. That's why I made a topic for it no matter how good or bad of an idea it is. I was suppose to post this a couple of days after the official announcement to be digital download only, but it slipped my mind so I apologize if it's late. Maybe I would get more replies back then if people were still talking about it. Well, thanks for the replies to both of you. I'll make sure I try to remember what to post from now on.

IMO, it's only spam if it (anything, I mean) is posted several times a page. Sometimes people do skip over things when they're discussing other things, which is why it probably would've been better brought up when the Digital Download issue was still hot. In the end, I don't think a physical case and manual would help a lot, and while it's not as expensive as English DLC, it's still a lot more money than Koei is willing to pay. And you run the risk of people wasting their time going to buy a game they don't realise that they have to download anyway. I mean, in the time it takes you to go the store and come back, you can already have the download on its way, right? |

And the lack of a physical case/manual is only one of a number of reasons why some people dislike digital releases. I like having a case on my shelf, but that's probably at the bottom of my list of concerns with downloading games, outranked by a lot of other things like "my PS3 is old and has a small hard drive" and "thirty hour download please shoot me now." It's not going to solve all the problems people have, but only a small subset of them. |

Even if you had a card voucher, without a physical case or manual, that'd cost Koei some pretty pennies in advertising, and we all know Koei can't be bothered to go to the extreme to advertise their own game. That's up to us fans, apparently... |
