The ratings the dw games have been getting recently has been confusing me a little. Perhaps strangely for a action game the dw series has alway seemed somewhat family friendly to me, thats my opinion anyway. For instance there has been no blood in dynasty warriors since that arrow scratched Sima Yi in dw3, although the peons gave of that brief red aura when killed in dw5, which returns even briefer in dw7, and to the best of my knowledge there has never been anything as blatant as a kiss (though Sun Quan and Lianshi come close). However I do notice that the violence in dw7 seems to have gone up a notch, examples being attacks like Deng Ai breaking your arm, and Dong Zhuo tugging your neck to the point of breaking. What are your thoughts on the violence and action in the dw franchise? Do you think it should be more prominent to keep up with it's reputation as an action game? Or maintain that somewhat innocent air? Also something else that struck me as strange was how dw7 xl had a warning on the back for bad language (something dw7 didn't have). Um, when was there bad language, in a game rated as 12 when its originater was a 16? So anyway, that was a less-than-fluid thread intro, but what are your thoughts on the dw ratings and content, including violence, bad language wherever it was, and the possibility of a kiss? |

Interesting points, but I feel it has always done well for itself to stay away from too much violence. The use of blood as you said, has been minimal, but there hasn't seemed too much need for it. The only issue I would have with showing any sort of gore is through a death scene. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ01qWSQYQ8 Maybe it's just that I'd prefer for a little realism and added dramatic effect for a little gore to be put into these. But really it does enough to convey it's point. |

Yes, interesting. I'm not up for full blown blood and guts, but there are times when I think a small amount of blood would have worked well, like when Huang Zhong's arrow grazes Xiahou Yuan, and when Huang Zhong claps Pang Tong on the back then looks at his hand. |
