That reminds me...Blaze sword backhand stance looks like one handed zanbato...
maybe...just maybe...*looks at guan ping*
Nope. :hmph:

Hehe. :P

I still think the Blaze Sword is perfect for Sun Quan, backhand or not, especially because he has Fire musou attacks as well.

Let see here:
Sun Quan:
- Fire attack
- Spinning attack -> Acrobatic kick

Guan Ping:
- One-handed stance
- How the character turns the sword is similar to the old zanbato

- Found in Wei-Shu battleFOund in Jin-Wei battle sorry

Hmmm, yeah. But an oversized weapon suits Guan Ping more. The Blaze Sword seems more like an ornated sword that rulers usually wield.

Why are people so put off at the idea of a weapon not being assigned to a character? Surely the more weapons the better whether they have owners or not? More weapons = larger variety in gameplay and its also a lot easier for them to add weapons at a higher rate than characters. Adding 10 newcomers in XL seems quite alot and would make things a bit crowded. Adding 10 new weapons however, through a mix of DLC and a handful of new characters with EX weapons is far more managable.

Theres also the devaluing of gameplay experience of playing as a new character that I've mentioned many times. A character should have their weapon designed for them and they should first be introduced together. If they decide that an already made weapon would do a good job on them, then fine pull a Han Dang and redo the movbeset slightly to make the character own it. But making it so that a character is being introduced as such-and-such weapons' owner rather than, "heres a new character and this is what they'll use", feels a bit wrong.

Because I wouldn't use the weapons otherwise!

I know its a selfish reason, and I agree, I do think the weapon and the character should fit, not just be assigned just because. But that isn't too hard to do.

But ultimately, the whole variety of gameplay and what not wouldn't change. The weapons would still be in the game, in fact they would all have new moves attached to them (EX, three musous)...not that it'd matter unless you were using the EX character...but still.

But I get you. I understand where you're coming from, and i'm not saying you're wrong. I just...have personal preferences is all. If they remain in the game without owners (which is unlikely, I think) i'd be a little bothered but ultimately i'd get over it, cause I'd probably never use them then...therefore forget they even exist...

Im more interested now in what direction Koei will take, they havent stuck with the original '1 new weapon & 1 returning weapon' for their DLC ideas. I hope we have some sort of spear next, be nice to see where Koei is going with this and if there will be a pattern to the DLC weapons.
Less demand was perhaps the core reason for two new instead of the old 50/50 split. Before there was a great deal of demand for the Buckler Blade, Twin Wands and Kirin Fang etc. Since everyone is now decloned and the old weapon poll is GREATLY smaller it means do they get adventurous with their designs for DLC weapons or slowly but surely give us all the weapons that just happened to be left.

I can see the want around her for the pillar, wrecking ball and what have you - they could also be different from whats already available but when its getting to the stage of everyone asking for Zhou Yu's old Elder Sword its perhaps getting to the stage where we should maybe covet new designs instead of more swords and what have you... more than anything else because there is a good chance it will not be assigned to who the original demanding fanbase wanted the weapon for in the first place.

People saw Xiahou Ba as the legit user of the Great Sword, they did not see the same with Gan Ning and the Flail. People saw Pang De as the legit user of the Twin Axes, they did not see the same with Huang Gai and the Iron Boat and so on. As such its probably easiest if we accept that new characters should have pull exclusive access to DLC weapons... not saying its right but its easiest if we accept that for the moment - there will always be someone like me who would not be happy and openly whinge if the Bladebow was released as DLC and Yue Ying loses the Dagger Axe in future installments to cater for it.

I see that point too Skode, so hopefully we get to see these weapons have their owners go and fetch them from the store literally. I'm personally hoping for Man Chong to get the Spiral Crossbow but I doubt that will happen. I would like it on him particular because it would set him apart from other strategists and he was in siege combat.

However judging by the wielder so far we don't have an actual dedicated user for it as Deng Ai already has a Lance which is unique to him. Also it's hard to guess who will get this weapon since it seems a "Future" like weapon which Jin seem to hoard and being on a Jin character could hint that. However again this is just speculation and I'm baffled on who will get this new weapon.

Who knows maybe Pang Hui or some other Jin/Wei add?
(No wonder all the kingdoms lost to Jin with all these cool like weapons appearing later in the shop, and not during the main story of the Three Kingdoms.)

Huh...well I guess I got one of my hopes for a weapon after all in the blaze blade. I wanted something like Dong Zhuo's old serrated sword that could be dragged along the ground to make fire...but a sword that looks like Quan's old wolf swords works too. xD I'm loving that moveset for it though. I wouldn't say it's weird that Sun Quan is that athletic either,It does fit him a good bit. But...I think I see it working more for a future character.

The Blaze Sword looks like it fits DW8's version of Sun Quan in particular, judging by how I've seen him act in the cutscenes. The 2 star compatibility thing for him is a bit of a shame though.

If I could read it right, there's a bonus stage in Free Mode which I think it's to obtain the 5th level of the weapon. Let's see what color it is and we'll know which kingdom it belongs to.

Either Red for WU, Green for SHU, Blue for WEI or Light Cyan for JIN.
I have no idea of it but i think it'll follow that 'pattern'

That's actually just the only way to indicate it.

But honestly speaking, I saw the vid, and it just fit for the current Sun Quan, not the beardy, royal Sun Quan like before. Current Sun Quan looks more agile combat boy.

It seems we'll get Super Sentai costume for the 5 Tiger Generals.

If you don't know Sentai, it's the superheroes consist of 5 people. Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Silver. Like Power Rangers. (Power Rangers were basically from Japan.. They had lots of Sentais back in 80s)

More like Red, Blue (which Ma Chao does have), Yellow, Green/Black, and White/Pink (which is typically the lone female in the group if Yellow isn't).

My best bet it that the 5 Tiger Generals will mean that no female will have a Sentai outfit. Unless Bao Sanniang just happens to troll her way into wearing one. :sly:

But Guan Yu in a Super Sentai outfit. This I gotta see.

The Spiral Crossbow looks like a revamped Bladed Bowgun might I add.

I can't picture who has it in the screenshot. Looks like Deng Ai. The weapon itself is Green, so I'm just going to speculate that it might end up going to someone of Shu, but just because it's green doesn't mean KOEI can't change it.

Pang Tong, I'm assuming, in the surgeon outfit though....Hilarious.

I keep getting a feeling Jia Chong will get a Dracula costume.....or Edward from Twilight.

Hoping Sima Yi gets something good though I doubt it can top his spectacular suit and fedora costume in 7.

Yue Ying had poor compatibility with her weapon in 7 too. KT is weird and dumb sometimes.

Also for anyone saying "omg screw crossbow is green, shuuuu character!!!11". The great axe was red. Weapon colour doesn't mean much I think.

I think they mean the 5 star weapons, which seem to match the color scheme of the character not so much the kingdom (as you can see Wei, Jin, and Other here), which...obviously is the color of the kingdom. In most cases anyway...Yuan Shao's rapier is blue, not yellow.

But the weapons shown in the solicits, yeah, 3rd and 4th weapons aren't indicative of any affiliation as, like necrosis said, the Great Axe was red, the Iron Fan is purple...

Though, I still wouldn't put a whole lot of bearing on the color of the 5th weapon. Could very well be "just because"
