I myself love joke weapon DLC. Breaks the boring mundaneness of seeing the same weapons the whole game. I do agree with both sides. Koei could have easily made two versions of each weapon, one a joke skin and the other a more serious skin.

Would appease everyone. ^_^
Well in fairness it looks like theyve finally listened and adopted that approach... this superior pack is thank the heavens a more serious weapon design based pack. DW7 for some reason decided the best stat weapons in the game should be the likes of road signs and flying gingerbread teddies.

Its not even that were all thumping our fists on the table daily about joke weapons but if you didnt find them endearing the first time still encountering them over a year later means they are kind of being overdone but thats just my opinion. WO3 was a stickler because if you dont like joke weapons you were royally screwed again because once more the best weapons in the game for so many were silly weapon designs... snow men, donuts, corn cobs - didnt really immerse with the experience all that well given the generally serious tone of the outfits but DW8 with a rugby player throwing a rugby ball - that i can at least wrap my head around.
To me it's a fair tradeoff.

People want the game to be challenging? Serious weapons were the way to go since statwise they are weaker.

Want to have fun and look silly? Joke weapons can be just as fun ^_^

I didn't buy the weapons, since I grew tired of Koei releasing these things and I simply detest them. I knew they were coming because of the outfits, which I'm not fond of either, but it's great they are finally releasing something that I'll most likely buy. I haven't even gotten all the 5th weapons yet either.

I just hope if they are releasing more original outfits, they do something like the ROTK like everyone else has said, which I think would be good for Koei's dlc sales since ROTK is kinda popular and a lot fans would likely buy them. Or they could at least do something like historic army costumes, like the Trojan or Vikings(not really an army) just something besides the modern day craze.

I absolutely LOVE that idea, they could have costumes representing different traditional cultures from all over the world. That would be great :)

I don't like the joke weapons, costumes, stages, whathaveyous. The only 'joke' is how inappropriate they are, and I just don't find it funny. But if Koei is making a profit off the people who do like these things, more power to 'em. It's just in WO3 where they were the strongest weapons with no good alternatives, even a lot of the 'real' big-star weapons didn't fit the characters.

The DLC I've been getting were the new weapon sets and stages that add to gameplay. Maybe come 9 we'll have DLC characters. Don't care about different outfits, and not decided yet on these 6th Weapons. I'm waiting to hear if they have set attributes like the 5th do.

I don't really care for joke weapons either. I don't dislike them, and frankly if there is a market for them then why the hell not? I only buy them because they come with new stages, I don't care about the weapons I just want new stages to play.

I am pretty sure all these joke weapons still come with stages like they did in DW7, so if so I will most likely buy them.

I personally never liked DLC because it's close to a dirty practice, unless they really add on something worthy to be added.

---

The joke weapons, as someone had said earlier, are just alternative to get people out of boredom. There are fans who wanted to see the heroes in modern outfits and items - so Koei supply them those.

Being alternative means they're just nothing stronger / weaker than the 5th weapons. They understand the market. Not everyone gonna like it and rely to it, like you. So you don't have to buy them.

I honestly haven't bought any DLC for 8 so far. Probably will just buy the 6th weapons as it seems to be the most worthy add on. Unlike recycled stages.

How about for more DLC weapons, the rest of the DWO exclusive weapons? I personally would like to see the battle shield, dragon barbs and horned blade... of course with the DW7&8 upgrades
LOL... you mentioned the word already... It's DWO exclusive , so it's only for them...
LOLOLOL too bad the whip was once a DWO exclusive...
Despite about it's only exclusive weapon for Online, there might be possible since the whip was transferred to Dynasty Warriors 6. I don't know when, but hopefully it could happen.

Joke Weapon: I personally don't like the joke weapon but at the same time, I find it funny that it could be over powered. However, I won't buy it because I usually buy the original costume, but I don't buy that either. Personally though, if others buy it, good for them, they can have fun and if they don't buy it, then its fine as well.

I only buy the dlc weapons and that's about it. Although I haven't plan to buy the dlc stages or animals, I might think about buying the stage that have white tigers because of my name

Actually the recycled stages come with the weapon packs if I recall. The DLC Weapons come with stages too.

I agree it is a dirty practice, but there argument is because of the used game market.Humn it wont be valid with xboxone, but that console will probably flop.

But yes DLC is a bad practice, and is partly to blame for shorter dev times. Why completely finish a game when we can release the rest of it as paid DLC?

DLC isn't a bad practice, it's just not used properly, by some.

Weapon DLC brings 1 stage to obtain the 5th level. But i'm not sure if that's old map or DW8 map.

The true old recycled stage DLC brings you (useless) animal guardian.

What if for the DW6 costume this time, they release what-ifs for all the characters who were not in the game? For example, Ma Dai wasn't in DW6, but he would get a costume that fits the general DW6 style. Same goes for if they release DW5 costumes, DW4 costumes, etc.

I really doubt Koei would do that, but it would at least explain why they are charging the Japanese fans this time and they didn't in DW7.

Let's see the price and compare it to how many new characters from 7 and 8 in total if it's a good deal.

DW6 costumes were already on the disc, largely as alternates to the DW7 defaults. This time its DW7 the alternates to the default so i guess they saw no need to go into making all the DW6 available till a later date - japanese fans being charged is surprising but perhaps they are just being fair across the board now because free outfits in japan last time were a priced content download for everyone else.

Lets be honest even just a couple of thousand people paying for those kinds of downloads is probably worth the effort them doing so - we will just have to wait and see what kind of demand there is for them at a price over there.

They had some "what if" designs for the characters cut in DW6, and they had a "DW4" costume for Ling Tong(favorite design), I guess it's possible they could do more.

Ling Tong's, Cao Pi's, Guan Ping's, and Xing Cai's "DW4" outfits in DW7 were really just their DW5 alts.

But I get what you're saying. They did make up DW6 looks and DW5 looks for characters who weren't in those games (Sima Shi's was basically Sima Yi's DW5 outfit, just without the hat)

They could do that again, but i would personally prefer just all original costumes for them all

Speaking of what-if outfits, does anyone else feel like some of the cut characters in DW6 should have better oufits? Because I see characters like Daqiao or Xingcai and their costumes look terrible in comparison to the other DW6 outfits.

Although, I do like the idea of new characters getting what-if outfits. Because in WO3, it was rather annoying that older DW and SW characters had older costumes they could use, whereas the newer ones only had pallet swaps (without DLC).
