I'm feeling a bit half and half with Yue Ying getting it. Dynasty warriors 6 era was my favourite Yue Ying, KOEI gave her a very elven warrior look and I absolutely adored her, since then she's been at the bottom of my list, because the weapon choices KOEI have given her. But I also think that now she has her original weapon, she should be kept that way (even if I don't like it) If she doesn't get it I would have loved it to have gone to Lian but if it were to go to her she would have been in the images, not Yue. I guess this means more characters to be added in the future, maybe KOEI will be taking a different route with XL and Empires, maybe XL will only get Chen Gong and Empires will get a whole load of new characters. |

Ma Su? might work... in DW11. actually this weapon is made for strategic type character, so it may fit anyone who fall into this category. |

One of the things that immediately made Yueying my favourite female character is that she was different from the "usual" female character: good-looking without falling into the usual "sexy" or "cute" categories, more on the intelligent than the good-looking side (while still being good-looking), steady and comparatively strong, with a steady and strong-looking weapon and moveset. Usually, female characters are more on the fast side moveset-wise, and wield more "feminine" and/or less conventional weapons. The Bladebow made her faster, jumping, bouncy. Not the Yueying I know and love. For me, Yueying with the Dagger-Axe all the way. The Bladebow could be a nice weapon, but EX weapon for another character (male or female depending on the moveset. The weapon itself looks quite unisex). |

The blade bow should be given to someone like Lian shi, I never liked her crossbow move set to much but it would make her more interesting in my opinion. |

I wanted Yueying to get an even more tech orientated weapon, but as that's not going to happen I'd rather he have the bladebow than the dagger axe. The dagger axe is ok on her but I'm not a huge fan, anything that will hopefully make them go more into her inventor side is better imo. |

Hmm...I can see the point of her having more of an inventive weapon like that, but the dagger-axe was always her thing before DW6, and it's a pretty damn good weapon at that. I'm entirely against losing pretty damn good weapons that have someone who suits them, and Yue Yings talked plenty about her martial abilities as well. Especially when we already have a crossbow user who's an absolute bore. Just stand still and shoot a crossbow that covers the whole screen over and over and over. That's challenging and fun for a hack n' slash. -w- |

...what ranged weapon in the game DOESN'T shoot out multiple projectiles? It's dull as hell regardless. Stand and shoot, stand and shoot, reload. That would be dull even if it WAS a shotgun, especially considering what they could do. Just move a little, have some kicks or strikes, a throw that blows a peons face off, would you honestly say that wouldn't beat the dull thing we got now? Aside from that, how do you know the blade bow doesn't shoot pretty much the same? Black Kite said it has to be reloaded, and a button press at the right time is a more powerful shot. Sounds like just as much a 'shotgun' to me. |

The design of Yue Ying's crossbow seem to be changed a little bit. The DW6 one seem bigger. Anyway, it doesn't have to be Yue Ying's. Lian Shi likes to acrobat and show her boobs and ass off to people. Let her swap her dumb crossbow with Yue Ying's. And give her original crossbow to generic. Perfect generic weapon for a generic. Dumb, yet still can damage. |

I do welcome back the Bladebow, but to me, Yueying and Lianshi are perfect with their current weapons. The bladebow could easily be given to a new female add. Ma Yunlu is a decent future add who would be perfect for the bladebow. As for Lianshi's moveset with the crossbow, I myself see nothing wrong with it. It is a nice change from all the running and bouncing all over the place weapons in the game. And it fits her bodyguard persona perfectly. |

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the crossbow. It's usable. It's just boring as hell. I'm just the type that likes all the running and bouncing around, in a hack n' slash game, so it's no wonder I like the throwing knives infinitely more. Either way, i'll likely give Lianshi this crossbow, and forget the other exists, it won't be hard to do. As for fitting her persona...I guess if her persona is to be as generic as possible, which i've heard it is? The way the crossbow is used, is literally how anyone who just picked one up could use it. There's no personality to point and shoot. I actually used it more with Yuan Shao myself, fit just as well. -w- A good bodyguard weapon though? I'm not so sure about that one. No hard feelings, it's just my opinion on it. xD i dislike the Bow too, for the DW6/strikeforce version being way superior. |

It was given to her by the designers to show she was not as proficient in martial prowess as the others in the cast... a brain dead weapon indeed but one which was given to her for a purpose and as such i dont mind her keeping it. She isnt the kind of character who i dont want to see an overhaul of to be honest. Likewise with Yue Ying ive already said i dont want her going back to the Bladebow, if anything i would actually prefer if DW9 to be so kind and give her back her armour. Dont like the route 101 Koei is taking with ALL their females and making them all more feminine and baring of the flesh, suits many but the exceptions should stay just that, exceptions. |

No I agree the crossbow is boring. It isn't as bad as that infamous "DW7 Dao", but it is very generic and boring. If they could just shake up the S-string a bit so she moves more and doesn't look so wooden, it wouldn't be a problem. It is just the way she stands there for 6 attacks in a row doing the same animation, it is boring. For that reason I want Lianshi to get the bladed bow. Not a radically different weapon so she still has the "archer" persona, but hopefully a more interesting one. As for Yueying I think the dagger-axe is fine as an EX weapon. I do love the bladed bow on her as it does suit her mechanical persona, but her dagger-axe is already fun and interesting enough and suits her ok. Lianshi needs this weapon more than her. @Skode - I wouldn't mind seeing Yueying in armor again either, although I'd want it to be subtle so she doesn't look too butch a la Xingcai. I think her DW8 design is a very good compromise of her "old" PS2 appearance in wearing more clothes while keeping the red hair and feminine appearance of her more recent incarnations. It is my favourite design for her so far. Edited by Erminaz, Thu Jul 4, 2013 8:52 pm.

Aye, so it was. But that's just the thing, I don't think it suits her personality, or what's supposed to be expected of her anymore. I'd question the ideals behind putting a character purposelessly without martial prowess in a game like this in the first place. Or how someone is to be a bodyguard without knowing how to fight. Her musou's though, the only parts of her that are supposed to be unique and suited to her personality, have her doing stuff like leaping into the air, pulling a second one out and spinning all around while firing. A far bit more exciting and proficient than the standard fare point and shoot the weapon comes with, wouldn't you say? It's not designed with her in mind, it's designed with everyone in mind, like the majority of weapons since weapon switch. Lianshi isn't that boring of a lady, if anything i'd say adding some movement would suit her more. |

Um.......Qiao sisters say hello. Most of the female characters do. There's a difference between a weapon being labeled as "boring" and a weapon that "doesn't suit the character". When compared to other weapons and how they are used in the battlefield, it's pretty obvious why people think the crossbow is boring. With that comparison alone, that's why I disagree. Yeah but they at least generally get less combat orientated weapons... fans, flutes, harps and what have you. Lianshi wasnt martial trained in Koei's vision of the character but they gave her a weapon which is unquestionable just that, a weapon to signify her role was still one of a bodyguard instead of just a spouse of a famous fella from the story. |

I hope for more non-joke content. I really like the advanced weapon packs. Maybe some fantasy style original costumes... mystic dw? Also a dlc TEAM capture the flag mode would be awesome. Make it up to 4-way, each army. User scores by getting the other team kingdom flag and making it back alive to their respected bases. Each team also gets their own peons for added difficulty. |

i have to agree yue ying and lian shi dont need to change im sure koei could have given the bladebow to yue ying in dw 8 if they really intended for her to have it and lian shi is unique in the sense her moveset isnt all jumpy and running everywhere not everyone has to be like that and weapon swirch means they can have any weapon anyway i think it would seem alot of hassle of koeis part if they go changing peoples weapons again once decloned as its unnecessary and makes it harder down the line if generics get so many weapons as it will be hard for them to create more and more unique weapons for playable characters i hope these weapons do go to new characters like chen gong etc i do very much look forward to seeing these weapons properly in the main series |

@Skode Lianshi's relationship with Sun Shang Xiang, especially as displayed in the game, is far from bodyguard. More like confidant, or lady-in-waiting, but mainly confidant. She's moral support for Sun Quan. Basically what Zhenji is doing with Cao Pi, but Sun Quan and Lianshi are more developed. As far as the bladebow....yeah, I've already said what I had to say about that one, and who it could go to as an EX weapon. I just want to see how they function this time with the fighting system being different than DW6's, even though the design remains the same from what I can see. Can't wait next week to see the gameplay. With all of these DLC weapons being included (Bladebow, Twin Fans, Blaze Sword, Screwing Crossbow, Emei Piercers, Grieves) I'm speculating that they might do a few things with them: Bladebow, Emei Piercers, and Grieves will go to new characters. Obviously the Piercers will. Twin Fans, they'll probably give to Xiao Qiao and the Iron Fan becomes a generic moveset. If she keeps the Iron Fan and gives the Twin fans to a new character, I would be in shock. Don't know about Screwing Crossbow, but the Blaze Sword. Chances are that might go to Sun Quan. Is anyone kinda worried about how the twin fans will turn out this time around? In the old games the Qiaos seemed to have an almost magical property to them, using telekinetic powers to float them around... Then in DW6 Xiao Qiao got a much more realistic but cutesy and overall lesser effective moveset... In Strikeforce it was only aided by making it a medium-range weapon with it's gusts of wind. Now the DW7 Iron Fan is much less the cute dancing fan from DW6 and more like the martial art tessenjutsu. The way the fan is held and opened and closed is much more stoic and firm than the bouncy styles of earlier games. DW8 only really changed this up by making the fan smaller and faster, but also including the "blade of air" effect. I am concerned that twin fans will be nothing more than the Iron Fan skins doubled. And that there will be no unique looks to them... I really hope that its a much more graceful and feminine moveset with new fan models that are much more girly in appearance. I still say that DW6 was Xiao Qiao's best appearance visually, although she was essentially useless in that game... I hope the fans will look similar to her DW6 fans, with flowers and frills and things... Any thoughts on this anyone? |
