I'll admit. If we got good DLC stages... the need for new DLC weapons would be much less. But most DLC stages are not scripted and feel pretty generic. But maybe that is because good DLC stages would require new lines for the VA and take up too much space?

Then again, WO3 did DLC stages pretty well to me, so there is that too. I forgot we got DLC stages in DW8 but they feel short and sometimes awkward at times.

But what I do like about some of them was that they gave us DLC ITEMS and horses. Those were cool! They should keep those coming. And unlike weapons, items don't need to transfer over to the next game.

I don't know why Cao Cao had so many favorite horses, but I like using them. Not everyone should be riding Red Hare. :P

Koei would probably make a killing if they just started offering the concept art costumes as DLC, the next game would already be paid off just from those sales.

Ugh so true.
Back then in DW7 there were many great unused concept art costumes in the artbook and we all begged for them to become DLC. Koei had a weird reason against it, which i still don't understand. Surely the same reason will apply for the DW8 concepts.

I kinda wish we(NA,EU) would get exclusive DLC that japan doesn't get since they are always getting stuff as DLC that we never do >_>. Anyone else agree? Probably will never happen (¬_¬)

Unfortunately, you're right. That will definitely never happen. The Dynasty Warriors series being made in Japan, it would be quite odd to have exclusive DLC in the west. To be honest, I don't mind that too much though. The thing that makes me feel left out the most (as a part of the west) is the fact that Japan gets the games a couple months ahead and all of the new videos and such are released in Japanese first.

However, I can't complain. I'm happy I get to play the games. :hehe:

As I've said before, DW is made by a Japanese company with the Japanese market being their primary main target.

So we will never get western-exclusive DLC. They barely even take what western fans want in the vanilla game into account, because the Japanese fanbase comes first. If Japanese fans value new characters and sparkly anime-ish costumes over improvements to gameplay and story writing, that's what we're going to get.

It's just the way it is. If it were a Western company it would be the other way around, as is usually the case in American games. We westerners don't usually make games with Japanese tastes in mind so we can't really expect them to make their games appealing to us.

Yes I understand this but I mean their are other branches than the Japanese Koei. I'm talking about the US and EU team making some custom dlc for us.. If that's even possible?

I didn't think they had anymore western studio branches left after closing Canada (Warriors Legends of Troy) last year?

US/EU are marketing and logistics branches, not development studios. They can pitch the ideas, but ultimately the content comes from Japan.

Don't see a problem if there are some costumes being not so great. Not all of the current costumes are perfect neither. Wouldn't be against it just because of that.

I just noticed something about next week stages DLC.
Back in DW7XL times, when new stages were released as DLC, we were able to download it either for DW7 or for DW7XL. The only difference being Guo Jia/Wang Yi/Pang De didn't appear in DW7 version.

But now, it seems stages are XL exclusive.
It's quite weird, since it will probably make them lose money compared to last time.

Well, useless point, I just wanted to say it.

Well, it's better than nothing on Xtreme Legends. I think that we can use some of the DLC to get characters some spotlight. I'm not saying it's wrong, but it's type of idea if they don't have some characters' spotlight.

Found details about the dlc scenarios on this blog here

The first one seems to be Lu Lingqi being chased and its up to Lu and his cohorts to save her or something against the combined forces of Cao Cao and Liu Bei and the site even details which uniques you are fighting and the number of generals. And the star conditions.

The second is the coaltion trying to save the Emperor from Dong Zhuo. Think Dong Zhuo's stage from DW7Xl. What's sad is that Sun Jian there but if he defeated it goes fine but if either the other three Yuan SHao, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei are defeated, it's game over and its them vs the Dong Zhuo army.

The last one is something like Lu Bu final stage at Chang'an or Jin second stage at Shangyong. Except its Yuan Shao against the 4 main factions where each faction gets 6 general reinforcements as listed at the bottom.

Actually its 5 unique generals and one generic. THe one for Wei is Cheng Yu, can't figure out the one for Wu and the Shu is Jian Yong and the last one for Jin is Hu Lie. So now I'll just be looking for videos of the dlc stages.

Edit: After looking the characters of 張紹, the closest I could get was that it was Zhang Shao which is accordingly Zhang Fei's eldest son who died before him but I have no idea why he would be the Wu generic that got chosen.

Ah thank you for your insight, I would imagine it maybe Zhang Zhao perhaps as the Wu generic, hope to hear form this as it sounds interesting on generics getting picked.

Glad though that Cheng Yu and Jian Yong were picked since they both add to the early. I would imagine they are saving Xun Yu for later.

Do you mean that Dong Zhuo city escape where you had to protect the emperor? I hope so. It might finally give him a non horrible stage since his vanilla DW8 and XL stages were all so horrible.

Should of wordwd it better but you are on the allied side for the battle. The comparsion was just for context unless there is a stage for his side.
