@Averryy Heads up...

http://gematsu.com/2012/10/dynasty-warriors-8-features-over-70-characters

There are more out there. Think I read an interview as well. Just dont remember where. google dynasty warriors 8 co op campaign though and you'll eventually find many of them. Some make it sound as if the co op campaign has it's own story aside from the single player campaign. Others just make it sound like the campaign is just co op again. But in that interview.. The devs said they wanna work on it and make it, its own thing. I'll dig more later, the interview is more credible than this link.

Alright thanks, it sounds like a really good idea and if it were implemented into dw8 they could release new storylines and what ifs as dlc.

Hopefully that would be the me game mode and they can support it by using dlc therefore making it more replay able.

I'll be fine with any DLC as long as we don't hear from the Sima Shi meatbun fiasco ever again
 The Fiasco is good when I'm playing as Sima Zhao. Sima Zhao ended out being Victorious beating his Brother, Sima Shi.

Indeed... I got a feeling I know what this mode will be. However to save of differing opinions, possibly leading to exhausting arguements, leading to mods flexing muscle... I'll keep it to myself for now. lol... Can't wait til it's finally revealed though.

I think you should share your ideas man, you're entitled to your own opinion and no one can take that away from you.

I don't mind what it is aslong as it includes co op!

I can basically see everything from the past, even weapons. Just like the Short Pike in DW7, it doesn't necessarily have to be made for a specific character, it could just be added as DLC just to have an extra weapon to use.

I definitely see stages being added, basically any that were left out in the Story Mode that are predominantly important and has a bit of significance in the story. Even if Koei decides to leave out Tong Gate in the Story, I can see it being added as DLC.

Also, the overpriced costumes, which I never buy because of the price. Although they might be cool, (especially the "school" ones) I would never pay for what they cost...

I doubt there will be anything else, or at least I, personally, can't think of anything else that Koei could sell.

See I'm not gunna buy costumes this time, really unfair that we are expected to buy the same thing twice...

Weapons I totally agree, I want them to continue to bring new weapons as dlc. Hopefully if the decloning continues as it does and there are no more clones. Koei will not have to create weapons with a certain character in mind, I think that is better, then a more suited character can obtain that weapon at a later date.

I have only one DLC idea: the need to have one thing in common with Tekken Tag Tournament 2...

Everything for FREE!!

If I remember well, the game is gonna be released as both disc and downloadable version.
Which means XL will obviously be available as DLC as well.
XL will add characters.

So I think that character DLC is becoming an option there.
However, I'm not sure if I want it to happen or not.

I think it's better that way... No more mixjoy, which was cool at one point, now it's outdated. Getting a couple modes, characters, songs, maps, weapons, etc.. What's not to like? Idk.. I guess we shall wait and see on the pros and cons of this change in general. I see it as a bold step in the right direction though. As always of course... Some will hate... Some will love.

Yeah I still think character additions could still be done, if they were an NPC previously then they just get the Guo Jia treatment in 7Xl...replaced.

Character DLC would indeed be interesting and would also be a nice way to add new characters to the game instead of waiting for a whole new DW game to come out. I can imagine they would be somewhat overpriced, but at least by buying them we'll be supporting Koei at the same time. I wonder what other kinds of DLC Koei has in store this time around. There could definitely be more new that we're not thinking of right now.

Well I guess they'll do pretty much the same as DW7, costumes, BGMs, weapons, stages etc.

It really depends what this new mode is and how they will continue to support it further, therefore giving it more replayability. Depending on what it is, will make what DLC they will release.

I hope going forward they keep using the UNPCs as a testing ground. I like the way empires was handled with the pseudo caw's filling the roles of certain characters. At least that way they get some form of feedback, and possible inspiration to draw from when they finally include them in the unique roster, if they include them at all.

@Jared
Thats a great way to look at it, and I share that same thought process. I definitely look to support them, whatever they end up doing. Both from pocket and by word of mouth.

That's a good point. Technically, by seeing how the fans like the UNPCs, Koei can determine if that specific character should be added in the next installment. Also, UNPCs just add more uniqueness to each game so that at least some NPCs don't look like the boring regular ones. I like how Cao Mao looked in DW7, since he was the Emperor of Wei. It would definitely be good if Koei decided to keep using UNPCs, though.

Exactly seeing how dw6e contributed to Cai Wenji, as 7 contributed to Zhang Chunhua more recently. I'm sure certain reactions were taken to heart, and we ended up with decent characters out of the deal. Certainly helps more than it hurts to keep going in this direction. I even look at how they handled FOTNS... In the first games you had those UNPCs, that have now found there way into the 2nd game. As long as they keep using the knowledge they have at their disposal this course of action could only be a win/win for them in the long run.

That'd be a well cool idea to have DLC characters like there was in DW7:Empires, I think it would be great and coul work really well.

I hope they release some really decent weapons, not based on things we already have; swords, spear etc.

Most of them were pretty unique, I'd like them to continue that way, makes things a bit more replayable.

I want to see;
Dagger & Sword
Cane
Twin Daggers
Rope Dart
etc

My DLC ideas for 8:

1.Stages- Now the stages in DW7 DLC were nice an all, but the lack of unique dialogue was kind of appalling. Now if we get English dubs, I honestly don't expect KOEI to re hire their team of English voice actors just for the stages, so for the love of god I hope if we get any DLC stages + English voice acting, maybe the actors will do a few unique lines in the studio for future DLC. Like maybe record a few lines from the DW2 yellow turbans scenario, so it's all done in advance and don't need to pay them anymore later.

2. Weapons- I can imagine this will happen anyway, once people start requesting for Xiao Qiaos double fans. KOEI will also most likely release new weapons now so in the future when it comes to making a new playable character, they can just give them a previous DLC weapon.

3. Weapon skins- Now I don't mind joke weapons, that's fine, but only if we have joke weapons alongside serious ones aswell. It made me so angry that my most powerful weapon for Diao Chan in DW7 was a damn ribbon, just stupid and tacky. I'd also like to see some old weapon skins from previous games, like giving Zhang Chunhua Sima Yi's weapon skin from DW6 :innocent:

4. Costumes- At the moment, I have seen no reason to download any of the previous DW game constumes as I believe everyones current outfits are better (take a few actually, but those characters I don't care enough for to spend money on to make them look better *cough*GUANYU*cough*) but any fantasy outfits and new outfits I will happily buy and I'm sure KOEI will be making some

Thats pretty much it, anything else would be a nice surprise.

I personally hated the joke weapons, didnt think they were funny or interesting in any way shape or form, I just fond them a waste of time and DLC space.

Yeah DLC stages were quite disappointing for me, I found them unimaginative, short and like you said Strikerdes, lacking in dialogue.

Weapons like I said above I am all for, I dont know why but I want like a Whip and a round shield combo as well as the weapons above.

Im sure Koei will surprise us with DLC and of course the price.

I didn't buy any of the joke weapons just because of how much of a waste of money that would be. It was a little bit too silly, and I would've rather had Koei use their time and money on something other than such an odd form of DLC.

As for the stages, they were hardly unique in any way except that it was from a past game. There really wasn't anything special about them, and they were pretty boring. The one that I liked the best was probably Sanjiang Castle probably because Koei made an entire new map for it and that it was a Nanman stage.

My first choice as DLC: Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends. I think the days of disc swapping is over and since the XL expansions depends on the base game to make it more fun, why not make it DLC and not only we won't have to switch the disc again, but by making them requiring the base game to play it, it wouldn't hurt the sales either.

I don't want to see the old costumes as paid DLC because I already paid for them in DW7 and WO3 (can't be helped since there are some costumes that I really like in each batch). The DW3-7 costumes should either be on the disc, free or at most 0.99$ per sets from a game, like all the DW3 costumes=0.99$, rather than individually or by kingdoms. I'd rather see new original costumes as paid DLC than the old ones. Also it would be best to sell everyone's DLC costumes in one pack than by factions, which will make us pay 4 or 5X more to get them all. I also want to get the ROTK costumes for the playable characters just for fun.

As for stages, I want to get fun what-if stages like the ones in WO3 containing unique dialogues (except this time, it only involves DW characters), eg. the drunken brawl, speed is essence, etc. Old stages would be welcomed too, not only could they be more fun than the base game (for being non-linear), but we would also get to see the playable characters replacing their old generic selves. Even including a Musou Battlefield as a returning mode, whether as DLC or in XL, would make me happy, since I had fun making wacky dialogues among characters.

My main issue with DW7 DLC stages is that even though many of them feature every playable characters from each factions, they still use the same lines and they always appear in battle the same way (the same ones appear as reinforcement, performing the same strategies, etc), the only difference being the location. One stage pack DLC that will be a must buy is a battle similar to DW7's Battle of Supremacy, except all the factions actually fight each other (and not standing still until the player shows up) and the first player's choice of the playable character determine which side s/he'll fight for. If this is too much of an issue, make 4 variations of the same stage to play on a kingdom's perspective.

I'm okay with adding past weapons that didn't make it (twin daggers, pillar, bow blade) and new weapons as DLCs, but not at the expense of the playable characters moveset. It may not be a problem anymore since there aren't any clones now, though I can see what others said about Xiao Qiao and the twin fans.

Like the others said, I don't want to see characters as DLCs and it would be better to add them in DW8XL and DW9 so they could more fleshed out and have their own voice, weapon (in case a DLC character share an existing moveset), cutscenes, interactions, a battle dedicated to them and probably more.

Music should just be included from the start or as free DLC, because it's not fair to pay so much money just for soundtracks.

I don't care about wallpapers for my PS3, unless they're free, since I prefer to have the wallpapers on my PC instead and they can be obtained for free through Google.

Just had a thought :
We know that XL will feature some characters we expected for a long time.
The only characters left from the Famitsu Poll are :
Lu Lingqi
Gao Shun
Chen Gong
Ma Yunlu
Lu Kang
Yu Jin
Xun Yu

We don't know yet about the 3 Others in DW8.
Ma Yunlu chances in XL are quite low I think, since Shu just got a new girl.
And Lu Kang is unlikely as he his a Wu from late era.

So Yu Jin and Xun Yu has got high chances for XL I think.
As well as a brand new woman.
Thus, following the same sheme as DW7XL : 3 Wei characters, 1 warrior, 1 strategist, 1 girl.

This could allow Wei to have the same amount of characters as Shu.
But Wu would still be late to the party.

So...since XL will probably be a DLC,
what about making 2 huge DLCs packs :
DW8XL : which would focus on three Wei newcomers
DW8XXL : which would focus on three Wu newcomers

I think it would be nice this way if they want to balance all the kingdoms.
If they do not do so, then I'm sure Cheng Pu will still be absent in DW9 :(
