I got a feeling XL will be centered around WU this time. Predicting... Cheng Pu Zhu Ran Xu Sheng/Wu Guotai/Sun Luban... I could be wrong though... If Ma Teng is the mystery other for 8 then... Ma Yunlu's chances increase I believe. Also if XL does become major DLC for 8 then I wouldn't mind 2 different packs. Me being a fan of Wu, and for the fact that Wu is the faction that needs adds yesterday... I would prefer they do Wu first. I believe Xun Yu may be for empires if they do another add for it. |

I'd also like maybe some gamer pictures and themes for my Xbox profile and dashboard, if it's ported to Xbox that is. The dw6:empires theme was horrific. I'd like maybe new or alternate costumes for the characters, not just past ones. Like Guo jias concept art from dw7... |

Agreed... I don't see how they past up the opportunity to use the concept art from the data books as dlc costumes. Would have been a major upgrade for Xiao Qiao. IMO... I saw some other cool ones as well. Sun Ce, Zhao Yun, among others come to mind. Even Lu Bu... The one where he had the long white hair wig thingy.. Whatever ya call it. |

Also I want them to bring brand new stages to the game. I wonder if they will ever bring out more what-if stages? Maybe to add to the storyline or alter it? I think it would be a good idea maybe add some more replayability. |

Agreed... The more that gets expanded upon the better. Adding to what-if's is no exceptions, at least to me. |

I'll just post the ideas I made from the main DW8 page: A good online mode for me would be something like the DW: Gundam online mode but also a bit like the moba games. Two teams of each Kingdom, (Others is clumped together as a faction for this mode). Five characters on each team. Both teams begin on each side of the map. Each character begin at level 1 with lv 1 weapons. Objective is to take the opposing teams main base (by killing the NPC commander of that team) Characters rank up and earn gold by killing peons and enemy warriors (player warriors give more gold and exp) When killed, players will respawn after a time. Use gold to either upgrade own troops, make commander stronger, making them harder to kill or to unlock remaining musous, EX moves etc The lesser bases on the map can be captured to earn more money and becomes a respawn point for the team that captured it. Been thinking about maybe the possibility of weapon DLCs. For something different I've been suggesting a sort of "2 in 1" weapon. This takes up both weapon slots and the weapon can switch into different forms. Example could be a weapon that can be a long sword used for short stabbing attacks but when switched, the hilt can extend and it will turn into a naginata type weapon for crowd clearing sweep attacks. Also for these weapons, the switch button will perform a different attack for combos depending on which mode it was at and where in the attack chain it was pressed to allow different attack combinations. |

Oh yeah that was you that mentioned the 2 in 1 idea. It's funny because I had been thinking it, and you just said it. Lol I was like wow, someone out there thinks similar. I'm all for that idea, and think many characters as well as the overall game would benefit from it's inclusion. Definitely an idea I think that needs to be pitched.

You have no idea how much I would love this! I have actually thought about things similar to this, and I've always wanted this to be included into this series. It would definitely bring on some replay value. However, I really don't see this ever happening because it's not Koei's style. But, maybe this new "mystery mode" could be something similar to this. Really, the possibilities are endless. |

Well I had a feeling that we would have to rebuy the dlc that we had bought in DW7 and it's expansions that were compatible. I hope koei makes them cheaper, especially the costume. Maybe they'll release them in bigger packs and make it so you're saving a bit of money? |

I look forward to any costume packages featuring a new theme. Hopefully we'll be able to get RoTK 12 costumes, seeing as Zhao Yun and SSX are going to get them for preorder. Hey, I wonder if we'll be able to have weapon skins from the PS2 era as DLC. Like SSX's Sol Chakrams, Lu Xun's Eagle sabers, and the Qiaos' fans, but single. It would be nice to use them along with the old costumes DLC. Nostalgia FTW. |

I hope they make quite a few alternate costume packs for the characters, maybe using their concept designs for the game, would be quite good to see what a character could have looked like. Especially Xu Shu who hasnt changed his clothes since the last game

Would definitely love if they did use some if not all of what they had in the databook. Some of them weren't that great, but there were some that were awesome. All in all, the more choices we have... The better. |

I think they'll release quite a lot of costumes, all the past games again maybe giving the other characters have gotten from other games. I hope they bring loads of weapons to this game, I'd love to see maybe 2/3 weapons in a pack and plenty of packs. But I doubt it. |

Lots of weapon DLC wouldn't be so bad, because it really adds uniqueness to each character. I, personally, always keep my characters' EX weapons on, but for a secondary weapon, it's always nice to have lots of choices. However, if Koei does indeed decide to release a bunch of weapon packs, I would like it if they lowered their prices. I don't like paying as much as they charge for a couple of weapons. I would also enjoy lots of stage DLC, especially any relatively important battles that were left out in the story for some reason. But, when I talk about stage DLC, I want completely NEW stages, not ones from past games. Those old stages are better left in the past, when they were fun on each of their respective games. Now, with the new "1 VS 1000" feel to the game, the old stages just don't feel right. |

Man its so many weapons I wanna see with this series. Introducing new ones are welcomed by me. Stages are always great to add... I wanna see some form of story dlc, even though I know its unlikely. I still stand with my horse mounts lol... Even though it was something I just blurted out to keep that post on topic. I know in the main thread they had got on the subject of special mounts that certain characters have. The more unique small things like this get... The better the presentation of them. For instance... Ma Chao's white horse... I would love it if they took Red hair and gave it a white palette swap. Could be cool... |

In Free Mode, there has to be some way to unlock horses, unless Koei decides to give us the slow brown "starter" ones that I really hate. I actually liked DW6's horse system where you had to pick up saddles in the battle and train them. The only thing bad about that system was the fact that it was in DW6, and training horses was a pain in the butt to train because they have no Renbu Gait at first... so it was torture. Good thing DW8 won't have Renbu... ![]() That was a little off-topic, though. To be quite honest, I wouldn't like to have to pay for more story content, especially since I like to have all the story content I can get. What-if stages and even other types of stages are fine by me for DLC, but no story ones. |

Understand where you're coming from. I can respect that and all... I'm going to use Mass Effect 3 as an example here though... Without purchasing any dlc you get a COMPLETE story. You or anyone else deciding not to buy is a personal choice. One that I wouldn't try to persuade in the slightest. But Aquiring Javik, or Leviathan dlc, now Omega and one other is supposed to be coming. I have Javik that adds to the story, even though he didn't have to. Ended up being a great character. Leviathan added like over 2 hours of gameplay, even came with "stages" and weapons just to add in a lil story. I highly enjoyed it as well. Now I have Omega, which I haven't played yet but plan on doing it after I finish up a few other games and the beat goes on. This story as vast as it is has a bunch of holes in it. Holes that would benefit from dlc even if it didn't even add a character, although it's possible that it could. Said it before and I'll say it again... Developers are given a project and a due date, some story elements never make it into the games due to time constraints. This is a story that may never be complete unless we make it to DW 20, and if sales stay the way they have been... We won't make it. This form of dlc would help them more than it would hurt them, because for every few that won't add to the story via dlc... There are many that would. I certainly would support it. As it would help the whole "milking" the franchise deal fade just a lil, cutting down all the unnecessary entries of an XL or an Empires so on and so forth. No disrespect to any of you guys that wouldn't support it. But I stand as a fan that would... No offense.

Personally I believe that if Koei were going to release stories as DLC, they would focus more on the Others and maybe what-if stories for them. Id be more then happy to buy DLC that focuses on them, probably that of Yuan Shao and Lu Bu. They could release what-if stages for the main storymode aswell, but I guess it would be a little bit harder to impliment them into the game. |

Not that hard... The way games like ME3 and its complete series as a whole works off of "what-ifs..." The game always changes based on player choice. Don't know if you played it or not, but the game was completely playable without Javik. Already had other variables set for other character interactions and everything. Adding him nets you a whole set of dialogue, you get to visit a place you wouldn't have without his inclusion... Bringing along his own weapon, and he has interactions with characters that were already poised to live on without him ever being there. It's all in how the game is programmed, and if that's outside Koei's expertise... Then I could understand how it would be hard for them. Not necessarily impossible with todays standards in the industry though. If they decided to go with the others side of things, then thats perfectly fine by me. Doesn't have to be limited to just them though.. Multiple companies have been proving this for a few years now. Just an area where Koei can improve by taking a chance to learn. Not saying this has to be done in 8, but they'd be wise to adapt going forward. In which, from what I've been following... This particular type of dlc, just may already be in play. It has already been said that Dw8 is coming in disc form and digital form in japan.. And that Koei are thinking about just doing XL as a major dlc. This in fact would become story dlc, no matter of anyone's perspective of it. We will see if they follow through. "replayability"

Now, Other story DLC I would definitely welcome. I really want Other to be included in the Story Mode, because half the point of adding a character to the game is to include him/her in it. I really hope that in DW9 there will be an Other story. I can imagine it would be easy, and it doesn't necessarily have to be as long as the other kingdoms' stories. For example, you would start out with the Yellow Turban Rebellion with Zhang Jiao. Next, you would move on to Hu Lao Gate with Dong Zhuo/Lu Bu/(maybe) Diao Chan. Next, to the battle of Guan Du with Yuan Shao, and then on to the Nanman Campaign with Meng Huo/Zhu Rong to end it. I think that would be pretty cool, to be honest. Each of them can have a couple stages maybe. Like, split the YTR into two parts, for Dong Zhuo there can be Si Shui Gate, Hu Lao Gate, and then Escape from Luo Yang. So on and so forth. |

Yeah I agree about the whole why add a character to the game if they aren't going to be portrayed and fleshed out in the main mode, but that's a story for another day. It wouldn't be difficult for koei to create and implement DLC stories for the others, they'd just base it off the stories they had in past games. Just the newbies they'd have to work on I think. Id also be happy if there was a tekken style arena fighting, maybe in a league? 16 players battle it out against each other one at a time to reach the top? I think it could work. |

I kind of like the idea of bonus What-if stages, though I'm not sure how that would completely tie in with the story. But maybe bonus side-missions for stages to lengthen stages and gameplay a bit. They can be ridiculous side missions as well. Like Sima Zhao has to hide Sima Shi's meat buns before charging on to defeat Jiang Wei. Edited by Lil'Richard, Sat Jan 19, 2013 3:40 am.
