I understand what your saying, but I would like to explain myself about it. Since I'm liking more on Yueying's get with Dagger-Axe, the screwed bow (is that right) kinda fits with Wang Yuanji in certain way. I mean, the dagger does fit her perfectly, but one of the reason is decloning with generic officers. @Late Response: Good to see you again, Averryy. Edited by Mark Robin, Thu Apr 18, 2013 7:51 pm.

So then take the things away from generics if it's such a problem. Give generics Lian Shi's dull crossbow, and give Lian Shi the new crossbow, that simple. Maybe i'm biased with not seeing why generics using character weapons is a problem, especially when any character can pick up a pike and be Lu Meng to begin with. There's little unique between playable characters, why care about what the people you can't even play as are using? -w- 'Sides, you can't say a weapon we literally know nothing about suits Wang Yuanji more than the weapons that fit her perfectly and she's always been known for, y'know? Maybe the bow'll be awesome, and it'll look great on Wang Yuanji, I dunno, and neither does anyone else until they show the thing. But either way I happen to love the throwing knives, ON Yuanji, so yeah i'm still against it. |

The reason the crossbow is dull and boring is because Lianshi is supposed to have no real martial abiliy so she was made to deliberately be simple. Giving her a likely high tech weapon and fancy moves would be stupid. She can keep her shoddy bow. |

How many of the female cast in this game are actually supposed to have real martial ability? I mean, I can see what you mean, but that sounds more like making excuses, in the worst way. Zhen Ji knows how to kick and not stand in one place when she fights, Cai Wenji, The Qiao's, Diao Chan as well. The crossbow is dull and boring, because Koei made it so, just like the Bow when DW6's was already quite a bit better. (Err, the one in strikeforce Huang Zhong/Xiahou Yuan used). So the reason to not give a character something fun and interesting, is because she's supposed to be dull and boring? Besides, if that crossbow IS Yue Yings DW6 bow, does that really change much? All Lianshi would need to know is how to swing her arm around and actually move. -w-

I honestly don't see much point in ditching the weapons that PC's share with NPC's, it would mean Xu Zhu loses the weapon he has had since DW1 plus nobody can play as the NPC's outside of Empires so why should it matter? it's basically saying "have all the NPC's stand there with no weapon" let's just keep everything the way it is and have the DLC as extra stuff for the 8 cycle. The DLC weapons can be issued in DW9 to new characters |

Xiahou Yuan is a sexy beast? Talk about a full time job, but he's got perfect attendance. That backwards cap fits him perfectly.I wonder what they're going to force Yuan Shao to be. He probably thinks he's too good to have a normal job. Guo Jia's already a pool shark. I could see him as a bartender. Taishi Ci owns a shack by the beach selling popsicle sticks and shishkebabs. Zuo Ci is already a professional broomstick. Sun Jian should totally be a pizza guy just so I can say that he works at Papa Jian's. And Lu Meng... won't have a job. He'll just be a hobo. In other words, he'll be wearing his DW6 outfit.

Suppose so, they could allow her to like, move a little bit. Maybe we're to assume she really, really has no martial ability. Like, devoid of warfare knowledge, like so completely inept she doesn't know how to alter the aim of her crossbow. I suppose the Qiao's have no martial ability but they still pull of interesting movesets so I will give it to you in that regard. However I cannot imagine Lianshi shooting explosive gunfire from her arms like, ever .A crossbow suits being SSX's bodyguard more than what Yueying used to have, that much is obvious. I kinda hope the Blaze Sword ends up becoming Sun Quan's weapon. I know we don't know what it is yet but if it's as good as the other DW8 new weapons, it's way better than the standard sword he got stuck with. |

I actually really like the 5th weapon for Sun Quan plus the sword suits him as it isn't overly flashy but the thing is the Blaze Blade might not even be a Sword so saying Sun Quan should have it is kinda premature at this time, plus if Sun Quan loses the Dao my OCD would kick in i don't like the thought of Weapons not having an owner hence why I'm against the de-decloning of those that share weapons with generics |

Okay... when I heard of the weapons, I began to research about the weapon, but I wasn't sure if it's exactly like this. Flame Blade http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flame-bladed_sword Sprial Crossbow: I couldn't find the pic, but I'm guessing it's somehow mini crossbow http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2011/04/mini_crossbow.jpeg Edited by Mark Robin, Thu Apr 18, 2013 10:19 pm.

It doesn't look like this, it could look like this. It's all about assumptions yet. To me, the crossbow will probably be Yueying's crossbow. Fans asked for it A LOT. And I don't see them creating a new crossbow again. I'm looking forward to the blade the most. I'd laugh so hard if it is not a sword ^^ Nobody expected the ring blade to be a ring blade first if I remember well. It could be every kind of blade : sword, spear, daggers, etc etc. Possibilities are infinite. |

Claymore/Zweihander isn't a horrible weapon idea. It's anachronistic, yes, but so are a good portion of the weapons we have now. Zweihander would be a nice middle between the dao/rapier and the great sword (Yu Jin for XL).

On the topic of Lianshi's crossbow. It is actually a testament to her strength. In DW7, there was a peon in Conquest mode that said something along the lines of him having to use his legs to reload the crossbow. Lianshi does it like it's nothing. And I personally love the crossbow moveset and hope Koei never changes it. Onto the new weapons..... Just be patient guys. We'll eventually find out what they look like. |

Me, i'mma hope the blazing blade is the serrated sword i've wanted back for a while, the blaze part coming from the serrations creating sparks when it strikes the ground/foes. -w- But yeah, i'm going to assume the crossbow is Yue Yings thing until it gets revealed. I have to agree about the Crossbow weapon. Thinking that it sucks just because it's stationary to me is ridiculous because you're overlooking the point of it. It's to be able to attack from far away (The bow is like this too). It's supposed to be a ranged weapon and you have to be a bit strategic about it. Plus personally for me, if giving it movement means that it would have to give up it's awesome piercing effect, then screw that! As for the idea that the characters who share weapons with the generic should keep the weapons and that the DLC weapons (And other future weapons) should just go to new characters. I strongly disagree with that, and the reason why is because there's just no damn excuse. When you see a UPC share a weapon with a NPC, that makes the UPC less special (Since let's face it, the only thing keeping them from being glorified reskins are the EX attacks). I know that the NPCs don't use EX/Musous (Empires aside), but that doesn't change the fact at the end of the day, the Generics are still using the same move set as the playable character. And hey, it's not like if it'd be for the generic characters only, there's still the weapons switch (I have only a few problems with it, that is all). There's some who are against the idea because people prefer those weapons on the characters, like Xu Zhu had the club since the beginning. Characters like Pang De, Huang Gai, and Daqiao had their iconic weapons since their first appearance yet their weapons changed (Whether if it's for the better is debatable), why should those characters be exempt (And no, historic/novel justifications won't cut it since Dian Wei still doesn't have his halberds)? Yeah, the weapons they're using may be favorites of some people, but it's not like you still can't use them. I mean hell, I still use the Bow with Shangxiang and the Broadsword with Ma Chao. I know, the throwing daggers were used as part of a promotion with Yuanji, but they did the same thing with Pang De's Twin Axes, yet he's now using the mace. And yeah, I'll be honest. I'm being a bit selfish here. I don't want Xiaoqiao to have the single fan. I know it's improved but still, leave the fan to the generics. I don't Ma Chao to keep the generic spear that was the same as the one used for Zhao Yun, Jiang Wei, and the generics in DW7 (Expansions/Spinoffs excluded). Ditto for Sun Quan. He's the freaking Ruler of Wu for Christ sake, he shouldn't have to share his weapon with the generics! I mean he gets the short end of the stick enough as it is (Though recent games are starting to reverse this). I want Xiaoqiao to have her iconic weapon(s) back (Since it's clear that Daqiao isn't getting them anytime soon). I want Ma Chao to get a spear move set that isn't generic. I want the actual ruler of Wu to actually have his own move set and not stuck sharing it, even if the others using it are generics. Basically, they should keep decloning characters until the only characters that share weapons are the generics. Because if they just stop right there, than that's the ultimate sign of laziness in my eyes as there's really no good excuse. And the fact that people are willing to accept, let alone want this just baffles me. |

Generics always shared move sets with the playables of their weapon types in DW2 up to now, why bother giving unique playable characters new weapons when they are one of a kind. Most generics dont even go through the full standard s-string of attacks, they usually only use C1-C3 and only the first 4 attacks in the S-string. And by the way, generics in DW8 retain the musou attacks they got on DW7E. And even if you consider the move sets 'bland', that doesnt mean your opinon is fact. there are alot of people, my self included, who enjoy the standard sword move set and its simplicity. And the Iron Fan fits xiaoqiao just fine, its tiny fast and uber adorable. I will agree its wierd seeing generic strategists use it, but its not something all that important. Another thing is thatthey put alot of effort into making sure that these characters all have a dicent EX, and 4 musou attacks with their weapon. changing the weapons of Quan, Ping, Xiaoqiao, Yuanji, Zhu and Chao would be pointless. why put in more work when its not needed? "Thinks Smart, not hard." as the saying goes, and reducing all their hard work they put into those characters just to make them different from the generics would be uneeded extra work. Really they are fine the way they are, there is no point in changing them when they are already the sole playable characters that use those move sets. Why should it matter if their weapons are used by Generics? You people take these small minute problems that can easily be over looked, and practly plaster them on billboard saying "I DON'T LIKE THIS! I DON'T! KOEI NEEDS TO CHANGE IT BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE IT! PAY ATTENTION TO ME! MY OPINION IS REALLY IMPORTANT! YOU SHOULD LISTEN TOO ME!". Just because you dont like something doesn't mean that is suddenly the thing Koei Has to fix right away just so You can be happy. Thats the thing about the gaming industry. They will some times make decisions that some fans will never agree with, but if you keep focusing on that one little thing, it'll ruin the series for you. Just learn to deal with it and move on and enjoy other parts of the game. |

@Dancingswan No, that's really more of a testament to the peons weakness I think. Just like they couldn't hold Zhang Fei's weapon, or Guan Yinpings, or, y'know do anything impressive. And even if she is supposed to be that strong, that just kinda disregards the whole part about her not being good a fighting. And makes her even more dull. @llsmoothJ You're making excuses for it. Especially when it could be better. DW6, the bow? SSX was hopping around, and doing just as good as the crossbow if not better. It makes things LIVELY. This isn't a first person shooter, where you aim and shoot, in a hack and slash having a character just standing in the same spot to, shoot, shoot, shoot over and over is dull, plain and simple. No one said the piercing effect had to go, but i'm sorry repetition like that is just a bore. As for Unpc weapons...why do they have to have their own movesets? every single playable character in this game can pick up any weapon and instantly master it, there is NO uniqueness to begin with. Suppose they do make some unique stuff for the unpcs, then what will it be? "Koei, why can't we play with that moveset, you're so lazy, that moveset is alot better than this or that." It isn't going to solve anything, and it doesn't need to happen to begin with. If anything the generics could use even more variety with them ![]() |
