Dah, Im saying if its left out in the next era of DW games, ala DW9...Im not talking about Empires or XL, please read the post. It would be a waste if the weapon was brought out as DLC, then not included in the next era. The only way it would be included is if we had a repeat of the Short Ji, (being given to Hang Dang, after being unassigned after the other DLC weapons were). |

Not exactly what I said. I was meaning it would remain like thw short pike would have if it hasn't been given to Han Dang. A spare weapon that would stay in the series, but get a added purpose in Empires games in general. A weapon doesn't need an owner to stay in the series. My main worry is they'll start releasing weapons before their characters, making playing as a new character less of a new experience with only 4 new moves to use. I'm praying that these weapon stay as either unassigned or are given to the characters who's movesets are also used by generics, making the generic weapons unassigned. Again, with unassigned weapons being used for CAW's EXs. |

At that point, all the dlc sets would be revamped with everyone else eventually and placed on new characters. |

Yes they could do that, but we were on about WO movesets, so if a character in DW9 was given a DW8 DLC Weapon (taken from WO series). What would happen in WO4? Would the DW9Newbie share the exact same weapon with a WO character who already had that weapon before? No, I doubt Koei would even consider giving new character a weapon from a different series, it would make them clones... By all means any DLC weapon from the 8 era could become a characters Ex when they're added in the future, but I doubt they would use another character's weapon from another series as DLC. It would be nice because some of the weapons are really good, I just dont see it happening because of the above reason. |

Nemea, Han Dang, and it was given to the Hua Xiong CAW in DW7E, it had its own EX move and two musous, all of which differ from the Nemea's and Han Dang's, so I count it. All three variations of the moveset shared the same S-string, but their EX and musous are all different. |

So, your problem is, that when koei releases a weapon as DLC, people expect now for that weapon to be used for a future character, but when the supposed reboot comes around, all the movesets will be re-done, and it the inevitable crossover will run on a similar engine, with those weapons being used as DLC, which belong to Crossover characters, will be re-done, because they will more than likely show up in the cross over, and Orochi will be a secret character. |

Yet you loot at issues like the Xbox 360 now only really getting the vanilla sequels... it would be gone from a chunk of the fanbase for good, having it just as an Empires weapon WOULD be a waste for many. Im against just making great weapons as DLC and then moving on from them - if they insist of this method then they should retain them for XL additions instead because as you said and ive said before it stunts the excitement and motivation for buying XL when your getting a new character skin and voice but same moveset youve played to death (albeith with three new musuos and an Ex attack). The only reason they are still releasing these as DLC first and foremost is because fans want them... they will pay good money for them even if they know they are coming on future characters as was the case with DW7DLC second wave of weapons. No one minded - this situation is more unique in that weve now no clones but yeah point remains... Koei know the effect of fresh movesets for characters though - they actually retained the Wang Yi moveset instead of releasing it as DLC even though they initially announced it was meant to be one for that specific reason i believe. |

I never said for it to be an Empires only weapon. Just gaining an extra bit of worth there of being able to use it to make CAWs "unique" from regular cast members. It stays as an unassigned weapon in the vanilla titles to be used as the player sees fit. Obviously it would drop out for any WO-style spinoffs, but as long as the weapon switch system stays, so can unassigned weapons. |

Yep you pretty much nailed it on the head, if the weapon isnt assigned to anyone in the next era ala Short Ji, then it will probably be unincluded in the game. Therefore making it a waste, since it can only be used in the 8 era, which is why I think the weapons which they bring out throughout 8 & XL will be given to characters in 8Empires and DW9... |

Well obviously, but WO3 movesets would just be DLC extras, they don't have to carry on to the next game as moves for new characters, they'll go back to their old characters, there isn't any need for them to carry on, since they are just reused assets from WO3. |

Yes its all fine and dandy for them to be DLC weapons or 'extras' but, its just a shame to see these weapons which we love be simply 'teased' at us. We can only play them through the 8era, even though we paid for them. They wont be included at a later date or anything is what Im saying, because of the conflict between them already being in the WO world. |

well its not like this would be the first time they put a WO character weapon into a DW game. DWOnline is getting an update in which Da Jis orbs are available for use, called Marbles of Corruption. It technically isnt my idea, it was Koeis idea. I was just thinking why only do it for DWO and with only one weapon, when they could do the same for all the DW-style weapons from WO3 in DW8. |

Well in regards to wasted weapons you have to look at Buckler Blade, Double Trident, Twin Wands and Boomerang etc... all weapons which were lost from previous DW games which fans DEMANDED return for their characters and all have, dont get me wrong it helped there primary characters were clones at the time but the point stands was people were willing to pay real money to have these weapons back and on their favoured characters. With that in mind - given these weapons were not direct links to the characters themselves (excluding Zhu Rong) the reason people adored these weapons was from past experiences in the games... as such if it fair to repeat the same treatment if people like me will come along and really enjoy the screw crossbow after investing in it will see it more or less vanish when the next generation of DW games comes calling? These weapons SHOULD get allocated to new characters in my view, even if it means stopping releasing so many via DLC and instead retaining them for later titles in the series |

To be honest they did the whole DLC thing with DW7 (given they're doing it for DW8 too and possibly future titles). Take Zhu Rong (as an example), they changed her weapon to throwing knives but brought her boomerang back as DLC. She had the boomerang in the earlier DW games (not counting 6, she wasn't in that one). Im glad they've brought the old weapons back, its just a shame to have to pay for them to get these old movesets back (unless they're free for the newer game aka DW8, which they probably won't) |

That's not the problem here though. If the play system gets redone, all of the current movesets, including DLC ones, will be scrapped and everyone will be reanimated, so it's a given. That doesn't mean the weapons will be completely scrapped however, as they will probably return with new animations. Knowing how developers work, I wouldn't be surprised if Omega Force kept the old movesets to use them as a base for the new ones, either adding on to the old ones, or using the old ones as reference to reanimate new ones. |

Everyone's unique so several have old movesets but some are not on the same person. Zhu Rong now has her boomerang, but in the case of Sima Yi's wire claws they went to a new character. So they are slowly implementing old movesets to keep everyone unique. Also..Welcome You'll quickly learn that this place will be your hell..

I completely agree with you. In such cases when Sima Yi (quote) has had weapons ranging from a sword (dw2) to his feather fan (dw3, dw4, dw5, dw7) to wired gloves (dw6) to the new horsehair whip...gee confusing or what? Yeah the wired claws went his wife ![]() Im glad that everyones getting unique weaponry and movesets, it be cool ![]() Also thank you for your welcoming |

Not necessarily. Many of the old movesets have very similar movesets to their old incarnations. Especially the DLC weapons. Compare the Buckler Blade from DW5 to DW7. It's pratcially identical with maybe two different charge attacks. The Boomerang S-string is far more fluid in DW7, but still very similar. Not to mention Daqiao's canes borrow a lot of moves from DWSF2 So using the same/similar moveset isn't impossible. It's been done before. |

Yeah they used DW7's DLC weapons to declone the cast back then, but technically we dont have any clones any more. Yes we have characters who share weapons with the NPCs but, we cant play as NPCs. So either way I see it, DW8's DLC weapons will be used for either of these 3 things; 1/ Given to current characters who share weapons with NPCs 2/ Give them to newbies later on either in 8Empires or 9 era. 3/ Dont give them to anyone, therefore wasting the weapon to see everyone go down in tears. Take your pick, what would you prefer? Im kind of a 1.5 really, bit of both 1 & 2. |
