Well, they can still leave DLC weapons ownerless. So the weapon will not have an EX attack, and can be used as a secondary weapon to those who purchased them. This can be carried forward to XL and Empires. So really, as long as it's still available as a weapon, then it won't be wasted.

:goodpost: Good point made indeed. Just as long as any character can actually use the DLC weapons and is available at the time, then I don't see what the problem is.

^_^ Along with weapons, there's also costumes (the modern day ones) but I don't wanna go into too much detail about em. I just hope they release the DW7 and below costumes as DLC. ^_^

Yeah I know they can be just left unassigned weapons, but I just dont think thats the route Koei would go. Only if it were an Empires game I think, I would like them to make them unassigned if that would be the only way they would be included.

I just think its safe to keep the DLC weapons for the newbies in Empires or the 9 era! Only time will tell friends.

Koei needs to make an anchor as a weapon, and give it its own moveset. i think its a good idea that some weapons are ownerless well until DW9 that is anyway.

It'd be cool for a Wu character to get a giant anchor as a weapon. Hell, even Cheng Pu. Pan Zhang, Jiang Qin, Sun Huan, Zhu Huan...one of 'em. It'd be neat and fit the theme of the kingdom's association with their naval forces.

i personally would like to see a combination of the Anchor and DW6's Wrecking ball. Man, that anchor looks way more badass than a boat (arm blade LOL)

It's not a boat! It's only a blame that is the length of an arm that LOOKS like a boat! D:

:XD

I am still amused by the way Koei attempts to cover that up by calling it an "arm blade", when we all know Huang Gai is straight up whacking people with a goddamn canoe.

Anchor to Jiang Qin please, and don't forget cover his head by bandana. Unfortunately he never makes it in. -_-

I've been wanting this to happen ever since I saw the club's anchor skin for Huang Gai.

Keeping with the nautical theme suggested, I wouldn't mind a legitimate three pronged trident being in the game with one of the Wu characters. I could see it for Jiang Qin or Pan Zhang particularly if they were ever added, maybe even Xu Sheng.

Funny but I also imagined this weapon on all these three characters. Sure I want to see Sheng with bow or crossbow, but trident is also good choice. Anyway I just want to see unique Xu Sheng, even if he won`t be playable. :/

Hey.

All I know is that when I was in the Navy, that's what we did. Hit people with a dinghy.

I honestly thought they got rid of the anchor because somewhere in the back of our minds, we know one of Zhou Yu's or Han Dang's ships is floating away because they are missing an anchor.

Yeah they used DW7's DLC weapons to declone the cast back then, but technically we dont have any clones any more. Yes we have characters who share weapons with the NPCs but, we cant play as NPCs. So either way I see it, DW8's DLC weapons will be used for either of these 3 things;

1/ Given to current characters who share weapons with NPCs
2/ Give them to newbies later on either in 8Empires or 9 era.
3/ Dont give them to anyone, therefore wasting the weapon to see everyone go down in tears.

Take your pick, what would you prefer? Im kind of a 1.5 really, bit of both 1 & 2.
I say 1 with the 2 weapons we currently have. Flame Blade being Sun Quan's future EX weapon, while the screw crossbow might be Ma Yunlu's Huang Zhong's, given that the weapon itself will be released alongside other Shu content.

I'd also say 1 & 2.
I also agree with Sun Quan and the Flame Blade, but....
Would Huang Zhong work with a 'crossbow' style weapon. Always think of him as a bow master.
Would actually like to see this screw crossbow in action. :)
While Im here, I'm hoping Ma Chao gets a unique Spear move set.

I like this idea of an anchor weapon one like a chain, like Dian Wei's weapon from DW6. I think that would work really well, would be suited to the bigger people of the cast, in terms of build obviously. I think it would work a lot better then just having an anchor on its own, a chain would be a lot more fun I think!

Does Huang Zhong share his weapon with NPCs? Or is it only him who has the weapon? This screw bow (whatever its called) would probably either suit a woman or a younger male, hopefully some one will claim the weapon in 8Empires or the 9era. I hope it is the bladebow because thats my favourite weapon still waiting to return.

It's impossible to say who the screw crossbow would fit best on, given we have no idea what it even looks like. It could be similar to Yueyings's DW6S weapon, in which case the idea for it being on a young agile, character fits; or it could be a ridiculously oversized, back-mounted, ballista type thing which suit a big brute of a character.

Yes that is true, I guess im just hoping it will be Yue Ying's bladebow from the 6era, isnt it supposed to be shown this week or something?

One thing I think will be interesting is which character they will use in a screenshot with the weapon, in most cases in the 7era the character who was shown in the screenshot was the later own of the weapon. Obviously it might not be the same this time around, but Sun Quan is still technically a clone (with NPCs) so it will be interesting nonetheless.

i'd say give the bow/crossbow to the generics, so that they can have ranged attack that can really hurt player. Take throwing daggers off from generics, so Yuanji is unique. Then give the screw crossbow to Huang Zhong or Lianshi

Crossbow really can go to the generics (give it to the throwing knives generics) and Lianshi can become the owner of the Screw Crossbow. Bow? I'd rather say no, since Huang Zhong without bow isn't Huang Zhong.

Depends on how they would approach it - for that at least i wouldnt mind a more manic magic based weapon... like Benkei where someone large would wield it but it could do crazy things with it like have it submerge itself under ground and come up and attack enemies.

The wrecking ball was awesome in its simplicity so why not perhaps have both... still i think the whole weapon on a chain angle will struggle given we have now got a couple of weapons with the same approach already in the cast now which is why i think it would be something unlike what we first imagined. Especially with DLC movesets - canoe boats which create waves or a giant ring you can ride in were not what anyone was guessing koei would craft but here we are and i think koei will again go mental when it comes to weapon designs in their DLC.

As long as they bring back the Cross Halberd, the elder sword and Ma Chao's Old spear move set, they can go as mental as they want lol

Curious to see what they come up with.........

a Chain and Anchor? i thought that up a while ago and posted about it a fair few pages back it should go to Dong Xi if anything since i picture Dong Xi as a huge burly Pirate.

The Bow needs to stay on Huang Zhong he was a master archer plus none of the NPCs use the Bow so no need to replace it on Huang Zhong.

Lian Shi is fine with the Crossbow they just need to fix the pose she stands in and the sort the speed out on the move set, the Screw Crossbow should go to a new character.

In regards to the fixing characters who share move sets with NPCs the way i see it is If It's Not Broke Don't Fix It, the Blaze Blade would go well on Zhu Ran, he can swing his sword around to set fire to Shu's camp at Yi Ling.

Guan Ping's sword is still the same thing from DW5 he just holds it differently and it has a different design that's it.

I really want to see the Wrecking Ball return with a revamped move set, it was a fun weapon and the best in DW6, if added they can throw it onto a big character like Hua Xiong, Gao Shun or Wang Ping

I still believe that Koei should use this forum topic to get their ideas, we have the best ideas around town!

I forgot about the cross halberd, there are so many weapons from past games which could be brought back isnt there.

If this bow turns out to be the blade bow, then we can assume Koei are going the route of 1x returning weapon & 1x new weapon? I hope that is the case, it makes everyone happy in a sense, especially for the people who are begging for returning weapons.

I agree with this, wholeheartedly. If the generics are going to have a ranged weapon it should be one of the actual generic ones, not the throwing knives. I'm all for lianshi losing that crossbow to get something better if that is indeed what the screw crossbow is.

@Zhen Da No, the sword Guan Ping has now is really nothing like the one he had back in DW5. In Dw5 he held the sword in a reverse grip and swung it about easily, stylishly in fact. That C3 going back and forth before slamming the ground, or how he jumped into the air with it for the C6 (The two moves given to him in WO3) It was a heckuva lot better than what we have now. :/ The sword Ping has now looks like it takes all of his effort just to even swing. It's slow, unwieldy, there's no style to it. He'd be much better off getting his old sword back, or at least fixing the moveset like WO3 tried to.
