Hundun is a new character announced for WO3U. Weapon is hatchet in each arm.

please note Hundun was the japanese name for the Dodokemi general that accompanies Yuan Shao in Warriors Orochi 3. His english translated name is Hammerjaw. Though in the event of WO3U coming to the west, his name will likely be changed to Hundun and no longer be Hammerjaw.

i wonder what "control chaos itself" means? Are they just take that sentence because of actual mythology of Hundun, not by information given about the character?

i mean, as a generic, all he did was just acompanying Yuan Shao (who already become joke character for most of time) in not so many stages. I don't really see that "chaotic".

Glad that Orochi/demon's side got more officer. Now if only they can make Diamondback playable too.

according to the Koei wiki article

Short Paragraph of Info

Hundun (rōmaji: Konton) is a mythological Chinese figure long considered the source of all chaos. His beast counterpart has a canine-like body with long hair with eyes that could see, but with ears that could not hear. It bites on its tail in a fetal position, repeatedly turning in a circle, seeming to smile as its face rolls toward the sky. A fickle and sometimes described as idiotic beast, it despises siding with good people, loves to be with those of evil. Either version of Hundun is considered one of the Four Fiends of Chinese mythology.

Chinese Mythology

Myths and legends involving Hundun vary greatly in terms of describing its origins, form, and purpose. Several Daoist texts refer to it more in abstract terms as a state of inner unrest rather than an actual being itself.

A famous parable from the Zhuangzi tells the story of Hundun who lived a content life at the center of the world until many rulers from the outside sought to give it facial features out of gratitude for its hospitality. They used chisels and drills to dig seven holes into its body (one for each day), which also correlated to the amount of orifices found on the human face. Unfortunately, it resulted in Hundun's death and the birth of order in the world. This tale is also a cautionary tale to prevent those from associating their true identity with their public appearance.

The Shenyijing depicts Hundun as a dog of divine origins that can't see, hear, walk, or digest food. It was said to have lived within Mt. Kunlun. The creature possessed a human intellect yet it preferred being in the company of corrupt men over those with virtue. On the other hand, the Shanhaijing describes it as a deity of song and dance with a yellow sack-like body. While it lacked eyes and a face, it had six feet and four wings instead.

Scans!

Now he's officially the first character to have FOUR arms. I wonder how his moveset will be handled...

His profile says something about him coming from a "Strange World", possibly a realm that is not the Mystic Realm or Orochi's Realm. In the screenshots he's fighting snake soldiers. I wonder if that means he'll be an ally.

You might wanna remove the Hammerjaw name. He's definitely no mook. Chaos would suit it more, quite frankly.

Very excited to see how he plays!

Hot damn!! This guy's face is just DOWNRIGHT TERRIFYING. Aside from Gyuki we've never seen another beast-faced character in KOEI's games, and even Gyuki looks like a dumb hog compared to what we have here.

I really can't tell--it seems to be a mix of monkey, dog, and a bit of goat. When you see it for the first time it's truly unsettling.

I like how they implemented the original description of Hundun's appearance into his design. Six limbs and four wings, as well as the canine head sometimes attributed to him. He's a perfect embodiment of the bronze-era Chinese demon, a chaotic being that looks bestially horrifying and relishes in causing destruction wherever it goes.

His 4 arms remind me of a Hindu god, I like how they are going down other culture themes with some of the recent WO adds :)

The axes look strong and Zhang Liao-ish, but maybe with 4 arms he will be VERY fast, I hope so. Scary character, I like :hehe:

He looks really scary, I only looked at his face shot about twice and never looked again lmao. And I agree with Phoen, he does remind me of a Hindu god as well.

Really good design, even better than Kiyomori's or Shin/Orochi's, both of them looks like a noob lmao.

He's so scary... and it seems to be the first time KOEI tries to make a monstrous male version of Spiral (she has 6 arms though) O.o

This is amazing. His design is really interesting... moreso than all the characters introduced in the series so far, in fact. Here's hoping that his wings and additional arms does offer a new type of move style, and not just there for decorations. It's also great that Koei is introducing more non-humanoid characters. Gyuki and Dodomeki didn't quite did it (the former's gameplay is super lame, while the latter's moveset is pretty much a clone to Kotaro Fuma's)

^ Well, Gyuki and Dodomekki are supposed to be generics. Whereas Hundun is most likely going to be the new ultimate boss.

Part of me is wondering if he will the the source of the mysterious voice that Daji is following in the new storyline.

I suppose you're right... although more than a "generic character", I see them foremost as a PC. They could do better, and it still bothers me that Dodomeki's moveset is almost the same as Kotaro's. Even the distinction between Orochi and Orochi-X's movesets were more obvious, but I digress.

Here's hoping that Hundun will be able to fly with those wings. But I'm not sure Koei would bother doing that.

I really like Hundun's design, it is something very "non-Koei" like hahah. Can't wait to play as him :) a pity that he didn't appear in any cutscene...

Gyuki's gameplay, or rather his moveset, ain't lame. It's just very different from rest of the cast. Yes it might be super slow but you can at least partially fix that with the weapon skill that increases attack speed. And he's one of the most powerful characters and has arguably the best jump charge attack in the game.

But I'm not surprised that most fans on this forum find poor Gyuki's design & moveset off-putting. -_- He's one of my favorite characters in WO3.

Anyway about Hundun, I can't really say much about him as I still have to wait a few more weeks for WO3U. His design is fairly unique and I'm looking forward seeing what's his moveset like.

Well, now that I've seen this guy in actual battle, I gotta say his moveset is one of the best ones in the entire game. And that's definitely something, considering WO3U has 145 characters in total.

I love how he flirts with Kyubi in the camp. Here's hoping there's a WO4 and he has a stage with Gracia dedicated to her trying to be his friend :kosho:

The only thing i'm disappointed about with him was the fact that he ogt no role in story mode even though Hammerjaw is his english name. Kyubi's army was devoid of any playable characters so he could've turned up in the past leading the Monster Army to cause some havoc until he senses that Orochi can be his scapegoat of sorts, and leaves the rest up to him until he reutrns in the future and allys himself with Kyubi for the sake of chaos. Or he could've just served the Demon army but athough his moveset is cool, i'm kinda disappointed that we really din't get to see a lot of his personality. Which is why i hope there is WO4 where he'll play a big part in the story, not just an extremely annoying side mode where he feels generically boring to beat.

Yeah, he's pretty much a Gauntlet mode-exclusive character with no impact on Story mode. I hope that, if they make WO4, he gets a more prominent role.

This guy kinda reminds me of Kotaro with the way he talks about Chaos and pandemonium, i do hope he makes a bigger impact on WO4 (though whether he shares his Japanese name with Hammerjaw again is another question, could be like Ding Feng and Ding Feng for them ).
