Burst Mode; Shin GW's awakening rage mode

Burst Mode, a new mechanism added in Shin GW.

A new gauge for Burst Mode has been added left of the pilot's portrait (the latter of which is also added for the first time in GW). When the gauge is full, pressing R2 will activate Burst Mode. When this is active attack power & speed will be increased, and using SP attack will trigger a Combination Burst.

However the real discussion here would be...

1. The image above was excavated from one of the rare TGS gameplay videos. Apparently Burst modes will be categorized in types for pilots. For example here Amuro's Burst Type is Battle Newtype.

I wonder if this could be also used to re-enact other series pilot's 'hyper mode' as well, eg.
CE characters who have SEED (Kira, Athrun, Shinn, Lacus, and Cagalli if she's in) will have the SEED Break
G's Fighters could turn gold (If Allenby is getting in, it could be her Berserk Mode *shudder*)
00's Setsuna & the Innovades activating Innovator eyes

Maybe for characters with no special traits, their Burst Type could be named something like Super Ace..
But what I'm wondering about is the Druggies & Extendeds from SEED. Stella is already confirmed, and the Druggies are very possible since Dominion & Azrael are confirmed in. I wonder if their Burst Mode would have them in the berserk-like side effect... but wouldn't that be detrimental in actuality? lolol


2. Some MS in usage can transform into special forms when entering Burst Mode.
Confirmed: Strike Gundam -> Perfect Strike
Unconfirmed but highly possible: Gundam Mk-II -> Super Gundam

I wonder if the super forms & hyper modes from past games will be incorporated into this, and maybe we could see some surprise forms as well? So far what's on my mind are
ZZ Gundam -> Full Armor ZZ
Unicorn & Banshee -> Destroy Mode
Gundam F91 -> MEPE afterimages mode
V2 Gundam -> V2 Assault Buster
God & Master -> Hyper Mode, turning gold
(If by any chances the Shuffle Alliance are included, they might turn gold too. If Nobel is in... perhaps its Berserk Mode??)
Wing Zero & Epyon -> Zero / Epyon System.. perhaps with some in-game enhancements?
(If Duel Gundam is in -> Assault Shroud? Somehow I kinda doubt this though and they might instead have it equip the AS by default)
Impulse Gundam -> Destiny Impulse??
Knight Gundam -> Full Armor Knight

The last question would be on 00's Gundam Meisters, will they only activate Trans-Am, or get each own GNHW packs, or both?
00 Raiser -> Trans-Am and/or GN Sword III
Cherudim -> Trans-Am and/or GNHW/R
Arios -> Trans-Am and/or GNHW/M
Seravee -> Trans-Am and/or GNHW/B

Of course all of the things mentioned here are just speculations at this point, but I think it might be interesting to predict how they would turn out to be ^_^

I Imagine previous Super Modes are going to be incorporated with this. So like the MEPE, Hyper Mode, trans-AM. Destroy Mode, etc will become this.

They may have WZ and Epyon's be called 'Zero System' but I doubt it will have any real difference, prolly still just be 'Super Ace' effects. maybe more boost towards defense, and less to attack.

I can imagine Destiny and SF's burst modes being the Voiture Lumeire. and in Destiny's case it could get mirage effect.

Unicorn's Burst may end up being FA Unicorn instead of NTD (leaving NTD as a part of its special). Freedom, Justice, Strike Freedom, and Infinite Justice might get Meteors to -_-

There's actually a lot of weird stuff they could do with this system to. Imagine Zeong just kinda purging into its head form or Byalant becoming Byalant Custom. Unlikely, but still hilarious.

I wonder if we'll be getting some changed movesets for some of the Gundams we already have access to when they go into Burst Mode. Off the top of my head, I would like to see the Strike Freedom's C6 changed to something that isn't physical, it's more of a long range suit anyway.

If they decide to keep the Meisters, I would like to see Allelujah go into super soldier mode when he activates his burst mode. Setsuna and the other innovators can get their eye color change with their respective benefits (suit quantization for the 00 and misc. power ups for the rest).

If activating Trans-AM is indeed connected to the Meisters Burst Mode, then I'd like to see how fast that gauge fills up. The Seravee for example was useless outside of Trans-AM. I used to try to fill one musou gauge and fire it to maintain its powered up state. It'd be pretty cool if you could actively recharge it in battle, meaning that by destroying enemies in your powered up state, you can stay powered up.

I'm also interested in the characters' quotes while going into burst mode and if they'll have special quotes if they're fighting people from the same series. I'd also like to see a special effect while going into burst mode. Think of how the SEED breaks in GS and GSD. I don't think it'll happen but it'll be quite cool IMO.

I think Freedom and Justice will have METEOR systems for a burst mode, since they more recognizable for using them, and it help seperate them from the SF and IJ. I think SF will have Voiture Lumeire, maybe given an effect where it's funnels surround it, and cover fire as it attacks. IJ i just imagine having having SEED Mode. Supace Ace, normal burst power up.

With MA's been straight up playable... There might be a chance Freedom/Justice = METOR are just straight up there own Units ( would be awesome if you could start out as them then when you die you re-spawn as the normal MS)

I think this Burst Mode is a way for them to enable suits that have specific abilities (e.g. Destiny's WOL, Zeta bio-sensor, Freedom's Hi-MAT, Zero System, Super Mode etc.) to be able to use them, and everybody else would just have a glorified power up.

And for stuff like Meteor, they might just have that for a cp/overdrive sp attack.

Hmm actually it's been shown in the TGS talkshow event gameplay (or someone managed to upload it to Youtube here), while Dozle activating Burst Mode has nothing else of interest, in Kira's case there is a SEED breaking at above if you could notice it.

Though I kinda lol'd that they didn't have the usual eye closeups, but I wonder if this could change in the final version or not.

You're right! I see it! I THINK you get to see a bit of the matte-like irises towards the very end of the activation sequence, right after the seed drops. The effect itself feels kind of cheap though. Actually, it reminds me of old-school 8-bit games like Captain Tsubasa what with the zoom-in and what not. They could've done a much better job with this a la Gundam SEED Destiny style for the PS2 if you've ever come across it.

Burst Mode is intriguing. I'm thinking that the 00 suits will keep Trans-Am in their SP and Burst mode will be like Alle and Halle personalities working together, or Setsuna's Innovade coming out.

Thruster Gauge won't drain out, enabling endless usage of Boost


I saw this and thought it was useless as first. Then I recalled playing as the Infinite Justice and realized just how broken this could be in the right hands. Also, if these bonuses are character specific as opposed to being suit-specific then that means that you could go on an endless dash combo with a suit like the Big O if you use Kira, Athrun or Shinn.

Yep, this could be the correct case. :lol:

And now I'm wondering if Strike Rouge will have either the IWSP or Ootori for its burst mode..

So... Will Cagalli get SEED too? Would be very sad if she didn't as her mecha being in the game pretty much confirmed her being in.

Would Lacus get SEED too?

I think the pilot examples don't really imply that they will be the only ones that have that Burst type... unless the pilot burst types will be really that variative. :blink:

Though what makes me wondering is that Scirocco & Haman are getting "Pressure" type, not a Newtype. Could it be that they're finally abolishing the Newtype-only restriction thing here?

And since Amuro's type is "Battle Newtype", I wonder if there could be some other kinds of Newtype burst types out there.

Maybe the gauge is something similar to the new style gauge in One Piece Pirate Warriors 2.
What that did was make the characters stronger or faster (depending on character type), and to expand the movesets. For example, before activating the gauge a move is limited to STT, and after activating the gauge it expands to STTT.

I think the Pressure Burst Types are just gonna be for variety, since there is liekly to be many many other Newtypes.

I think its gonna be as simple as Character and unit Bursts together, which will make it funner to mix and match characters and units to find strong combinations.

I just hope they acknowledge the Newtypes in the CE. Even if they just go with Mwu, rau, and Rey since they are the main ones.

Yeah that was one disappointment in GM3 is that Reborns only really featured the cannons in one move.

What do you think about 00 Gundam? I'd like the 00 to be the normal form and then 00 Raiser the Burst Mode form (similar to the Gundam Mk.II becoming Super Gundam in Burst Mode). Trans-AM being temporary boost like in DWG3.

Why? Normal form wasn't really all that great.
