On PC we would even be able to make new models, and essentially new MS put into the game (although they would be clones rigged to one of the frames already in the game, basically alternate costumes)

But this is getting pretty off topic, maybe someone should make a new thread?

Well, we're still discussing the worst aspects of SGM, so I guess it doesn't count as off topic if we're addressing concerns and potential solutions.

Maybe continuing the improvements discussion into the ideas topic.

How weird, I actually had a discussion with Wesker on player modded dialogue and stories.
Indeed. I was playing around with the idea on how interesting it would be to give us a scenario making mode for DWG. Allow us to create dialogue in scenes before and after missions (which is what this games Ultimate mode already has so that works). Then allow us to create the mission itself. Which events happen, what pilots appear when, what map it all takes place on, victory and defeat conditions, etc. Of course, we would need a way to send these missions to other players to try out as well. Such a system could really let players create some challenging and enjoyable missions.

Edit: Basically a system like this would help correct some of the issues we had with this game. Take the custom BGMS for example. If you don't like the music, change it. In a similar sense, if you don't like the missions the game offers, create your own.

Didn't they do something similar with WO3? I don't remember that turning out very well because Koei didn't give much leeway on the options

I actually thought about starting a project to make a mini DWG in GBA-style graphics with an original story and all. But then I thought; If I'm going to go that far, I'd rather just use my own fictional world and mechs instead.

But more on subject, giving us the option to do it ourselves would solve many of the game's problems and keep many people occupied for a very long time just writing new stories.

The one thing it wouldn't fix... is the roster. Which would limit what stories could be told if we couldn't put certain characters in it.

Not to this extent, they didn't offer in-depth editing like what Wesker is suggesting. Since much of DWG's characters interactions occur in still images, imagine having a library of these images for characters, and just being able to write the text boxes yourself on top of building battle scenarios without the ridiculous limits.

WO3 did just battlefield position editing, where you took an existing battle and reskinned it with new characters in place of old ones.

Reminds me of RPG Maker. So many hours spent placing floor tiles...

The Good

1. More suits
2. Improve movesets for certain MS

The bad

1. No cutscene in Ultimate mode
2. Repetitive mission in Ultimate Mode. Angelo/Full Frontal, Sochie/Loran are the most annoying one for me. Angelo with his Taisaaaaa Taissaaaa Taiisaaaa and Loran's Ojouuuu~Samaaaa
3. Upgrade system is not that great compared to 2 and 3
4. Extremely annoying named grunt that always spawn out of nowhere and target your main field :realangry: Seriously, named grunt is what kills this game.
5. Enemy aces keep spamming C1 shots

Didn't know this thread existed until I was linked here (noobie syndrome). I'll re post my impressions from the other thread here since its a more fitting thread.

good:

-there are more suits/characters +
-most suits have newer combos and/or skills +
-story mode (official mode) is back +
-pilots no longer appear in random suits as AI's +
-custom soundtrack feature is awesome +
-open space battle return +
-maps seems a little bigger and wider + (no more narrow corridors from what I've seen)
---------------------------------------------------------------

good or bad depending on your preferences:

-the return to 'realistic graphics' of DWG 1 and DWG 2 (I personally liked the cell shading of the 3rd game quite a lot so this style is a downgrade for me)
-SEED sponsored this game's development haha! In all seriousness though, there is a lot of SEED here
-paid DLC returns
-story mode tells us the story of gundam 0079, Zeta and Char's Counterattack again (getting a little tired of it)
---------------------------------------------------------------

bad (in my opinion at the very least):

-lack of a dedicated online mode (yes, Musou 3 had a pretty poor online, but I really enjoyed it and at least it was something)

-not too many characters got new art or at the very least new dialog (imo Domon still looks like **** in these games. He is such a likable character in G gundam but here they make him scream everything like he's going super saiyan)

-lack of new alternative costumes yet an abundance for some [EDIT]

-lack of special fields during missions. In DWG 3 we had fields that shot missiles, fields that had a cannon shoot at you and 'home-base' fields with the boss etc.

-environments are still boring and bland (poor textures)

-lack of certain characters (we still dont have Quatre and Wufei, like seriously?)

-we are still missing some 'essential suits' (my favorite SEED suit is the Savior, yet its the only one from seed they skipped lol...other examples are Sandrock and Nataku)

-mission mode (ultimate mode) still lacks voice acting

-the mobile suit lab became complicated to use again (at least that's my impression)

-post game is very very hard (unbalanced for higher difficultly) [EDIT]

-getting good plans is very very hard and rare [EDIT]
---------------------------------------------------------------

I have played this game for some time now. here's what I think.

things I like.
more pilots.
more ms.
charge shot is an interesting and good addition to the shot mechanic.
difficulty can be changed.
return of space maps.
more open maps compare to GM3.
now weapons/attacks can be upgraded as well.
up to 5 dash/air attacks can be executed.
MA can be piloted.
ships are more interactive, can be used as a partner attack and they can be shot down.
burst system.

Things I don't like.
thou im happy with more MS, but I feel some of them deserve to be in the class 1 tier.
some returning MS should be upgraded to class 1 by now.
official mode was short.
no engaging story in ultimate mode.
enemy ace shot is cheap. now the enemy aces plays more or less with the same mechanics as players but their shot is almost 3 times the distance from what I shot.
difficulty increment is unbalance. I can play 7 star on hard with a fair bit of challenge but 8 star is like twice of that.
skills are fixed to specific pilots and I really hate that and the worst part is some skills allocations are totally wrong.

that is more of less how I feel about SGM for now.
thou I have many complains, I still enjoy it.
