Hey, just curious if this happened to anyone else and their thoughts on the matter. I tried to learn my lesson last time I played the latest DW game through gamefly that you'd need both games out at the same time to play DW(insert #) XL with all available modes an such. So this time around I held off on DW8 till XL came out, and got both out on my Gamefly 2 out deal. I imported the data it needed from the original DW8 game disc and was having fun playing the game with the additional features XL offered while still getting access to what wouldn't be available without DW8. To the point of this thread...today, ironically AFTER returning the first DW8 disc(sense it's been a few days and I really don't have any need of it now...) that I boot up the PS3 DW 8 XL only to find out that the game somehow defaulted to, or rather, forgot I had already imported the DW8 disc data onto it. I had played 3-4 days already, so why it chose today of all days to occur is beyond me. My only guess, theory as it were...is that last night I played a co-op match with my brother...OFFLINE mode...and yet that was the first time I had messed with said feature till now. So perhaps even if you don't access online play, merely clicking offline play messed things up. As it stands, all the original story-plot lines are grayed out, so I'm curious of what else I've now lost access to. I'm also curious to know if you guys can help me avoid such a problem in the future, such as what to avoid due to supposed glitches out there. And if I had the spare cash to toss out, I'd buy these games, but without waiting, that can get upwards of 60-80 bucks, that's a bit much when you are watching how to spend entertainment cash. If you have XL on the PS3, you need to mixjoy, or remix, every time you want to access the DW8 content. The reason it did not immediately go away after the first time you remixed was because as of DW7, as long as you were connected to PSN, you only had to remix once every three days. After the third day, you'd have to remix again. So, unfortunately, it sounds like the three days happened to be up the same day you decided to send it back, or when you disconnected from PSN that might have done it too. It would've happened either way, you would usually just remix again...but since you no longer have the disc, obviously you can't. |

Well, that clarifies it, though it is disheartening they feel such a feature is still required. Though I'm still unsure of exactly what I miss out on outside of the original DW8 story line. They have some routes and conditions within the missions that I hadn't yet unlocked. Are they merely there to let players shoot for a different scene/event in later missions or do they play another role outside of that fact? |

Depends on which route and conditions you're talking about If you mean in story mode, those stars sometimes affect future stages (such as a certain character appearing or the battle playing out a different way) sometimes simply unlock access to other stages. And in some cases, extended or alternate cutscenes. The star objectives that appear in Free Mode, which is an XL specific thing, are...well, I don't actually know what they do. Gems or Leadership, probably. But they don't affect any stages in any way. |

I have not gone into the part of the game where gems have value, though I assume it's tied to ambition mode. Just found out all the stages I had access to with import data are gone... which is a bit of a set back as I was expecting to use the Yellow turbans stage to aid in 1500KOs into leveling up Fortune Hunter. Doubt I can get access to those with out import I wager...turns out it really can affect the entirety of the game with out it...not much of a standalone, more like a half the game type deal. Bums me out a bit... Seems the complete edition isn't too pricey, but I still have the big fat originally priced $600 PS3 beast. (backwards compatible at least xD) So the rules out getting that deal
