Dark Gundam won't be a problem as all they have to do is use its final form.

Psycho gundam prolly be in. maybe not Psycho mk II since they are kind of skipping over ZZ. I imagine we will just be getting Judau with ZZ and Puru 2 with Quebeley mk 2 for thats eries sicne they aint doing a story mode for it, and Puru's VA died apparently. maybe we still get beecha, Elle, and Roux since they just used hand me downs from Zeta anyways.
I'm sure all those characters will be returning, they just won't have significant roles.

Yeah I guess Final Form Dark Gundam could work

idk, I think ZZ is taking the biggest hit here. I think we like, might lose Glemy and Puru.

But one of the early screenshots had Puru Two's red Qubeley Mk-II in it. So I doubt they're gonna be removed.

Why would the remove Puru, but not Puru 2? That doesn't make any sense.

If you aren't doing an official mode for ZZ, then its not necessary to have her. And if they were too shaken up over the VA's death, and didn't wanna show disrespect or something, then yeah, maybe there's a possibility.

They aren't doing a story mode for Wing or G, but they have pilots for those series.

Plus Puru 2 was in ZZ, so again why would the remove Puru but not Puru 2. Your logic makes no sense.

Also, Puru and Puru 2 have the same VA.

I don't think they are going to remove characters from the game since this is meant to be a compilation of the previous games

Is there any confirmation about Freedom and Impulsive ? Or is just a speculation about the Story mode ?

I saw BK post about Mu, but none for Freedom or Impulse

And giving the new engine think they will give us the option to attach and detach the O raiser?

There's no way the 0 Raiser will be detachable. That would require a new moveset, and the Raiser Gundam is the most iconic suit in 00

I wouldn't mind a new move with GN Sword though.

I was very disappointed they went with the two flyswatters instead of that bitchin GN Sword III.

Maybe they're saving the "giant sword" moveset for Astray Blue Frame

^Or a small sword for Exia Gundam :sly:

00 Raiser from EXVS is way more fun to play with that GN III sword

Whoa, so in a strange turn of events, I'm finally able to get hold of the Famitsu issue with Shin GW's first batch, so that I could read the interview by myself to check out if there are any details the leakers didn't bother to post. :woot:

Posted Image

Apparently from the start it has been mentioned (especially by Koinuma-P) that what they meant as 'compilation' is a compilation of Gundam Musou series released in current-gen consoles, and to make the best Gundam Musou in the current-gen before people start migrating to next-gen consoles.

Famitsu interview

Famitsu: First, please tell us about the details on how the title becomes "Shin Gundam Musou".

Gotou: After we've released the first game in 2007, we've made GM2 & GM3 in a total of 3 games. Quite some time has passed since GM3 was out in 2010, so we have a thought that for developing the next game, we'd like to "make it a compilation work".
With a meaning of expanding Gundam Musou, once again with a fresh feeling, we decided the title to be "Shin Gundam Musou".

Komino: There is also the revival of Official Mode, which enables vicarious experience of official stories, but since we'd also like to entice people who haven't played this series yet to enjoy this game, we didn't add the numbering but rather changed it to Shin.

Koinuma: In the past there were some parts that we wanted to add but couldn't, and some parts that we left out. This time for real we'll be adding various Gundam series & units, so we'd like to make this a Gundam gala game that deserves the Shin (True) title, as well as the best game in the current-gen consoles.

Famitsu: Could you tell us about things that changed with [the game] becoming Shin GM?

Gotou: One of them is the graphic becoming realistic CG. In GM3 we used cel toon shading, which hasn't been done much in other Gundam games so it got a good reception, however because this is a series compilation, it could also mean a return to the roots as a Gundam gala game, so we returned to realistic CG.

Koinuma: With toon shading, we had to sacrifice some things including limiting the amount of MS that can be displayed on screen. With using realistic CG, in the Gundam Musou series we're able to display the most numerous amount of units on screen, as well as making explosions more flashy among others, so the merit is big.

Komino: If you look at how it moves, I think you can understand on how it has evolved. The game will be playable at TGS 2013, so please come to play it.

Famitsu: For the other point, there's the revival of Official Mode, but could you please tell us about the details and aims of its revival?

Gotou: In GM3 we made Original Mode the main mode. As a result the game had a lot of volume, but there were many voices that would like to play Official Mode as well. In the end it seems to be better to have both a mode for re-enacting official story and a mode for original story.
Furthermore, after GM3's release, we've seen Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny getting HD Remasters, and also Mobile Suit Gundam UC expanding, so we'd like to pursue these stories.
(lol seems like a certain 3-generational series gets ignored as expected...)

Famitsu: Please tell us about the other mode, Ultimate Mode.

Koinuma: The number of usable MS here will be the highest in the series. For series that are featured in Official Mode, the units can be touched there, but we've prepared Ultimate Mode as a place to play as units from the other series. [The mode will consist of] short scenarios taking place in various airspaces, and they can be done with personal favorite pilots & MS. There are also scenarios that act as homages of official stories which could make some fans grinning.

Famitsu: By the way, around how many units are there that will be included?

Komino: Including the units that have appeared in past series, there will be over 100 (now 120) units in total. Of course there will be newly added MS like Banshee as well.

Koinuma: And this time finally Mobile Armors will become playable too (laughs). MA's attacks will have tremendous power like everyone are expecting, so there will be a different taste of excitement.

Famitsu: There are not many games that let you use MAs, so this is nice indeed. Speaking about units, [stat] growth is also part of this series' sales point, but are there any new features added there?

Koinuma: We have added a weapon upgrade system where Beam Sabers' attack range can be lengthened, and Beam Rifles' ammunition can be increased. The method of obtaining blueprints that enhance them is also changed, so please enjoy this replayability.

Komino: Regarding weapon upgrade, there will be also a big difference in the looks. Like sabers becoming longer or beams becoming bigger. It's really major to be able to get a real feeling of becoming stronger. There will be also more new features not seen in other Gundam games, so please anticipate this.

Koinuma: Other than that the method to improve blueprints has also been changed to allow more detailed customization. Please keep playing the game to aim for the strongest pattern according to each own players.

Famitsu: On the way of battle in actual missions, are there any major changes?

Koinuma: The basic way of battle doesn't change, however there will be new features such as when enemy aces appear, their units will be treated like movable bases. When aces appear, the battle condition will also greatly move around.

Famitsu: Could you please tell us if there are other new features of interest?

Koinuma: The prequel's Partner Strike has been powered up into Combination Burst, and here you'll be able to also call Warships other than MS. Giant warships can appear on the battlefield and trample enemies with overwhelming firepower. The detailed contents will be published later, so please look forward to it. (already out by now)

Famitsu: Please give a message to the fans.

Gotou: Gundam started as an anime, but since then had various [media] expansions. It's also expanding to consumer games, which is what we're trying to appeal with this game. Being a compilation, we are confident about the contents volume & quality, so please check out the contents with everyone's own eyes.

Komino: There are so many features that can be thoroughly enjoyed such as the Official Mode which re-enacts official stories. Starting from the playable demo at TGS 2013, we will continuously provide new information, so please support us!

Koinuma: 3 years have elapsed indeed from the prequel. We're currently eagerly developing it to become the best Gundam Musou game in the current-gen consoles. Furthermore, there is also a release for a portable console, the PlayStation Vita, for the first time for Gundam Musou series. Hopefully both experienced players and newcomers alike can play the game on their preferred consoles.

Had a feeling this wouldn't be the last GM, just the last one for this generation obviously.

AGE is the new official black-sheep of Gundam; its been blackballed.

Edit: Did I see 120 (total?) I thought it was 129 confirmed?

I'm thinking this could actually be because of what Level 5 has contracted with Gundam over AGE.

Yeah, but unfortunately, I got a feeling that, if there was a franchise they'd squeeze out to make more room, they'd go with ZZ.

I really don't understand why, other than the possible reason that it violated one of the supposed rules of Gundam by being humorous during the first couple of episodes, especially since a lot of ZZ's elements play a bigger role in the Universal Century than Zeta did. I mean, without Puru, we could not have had Marida Cruz, to name one example.

The proper phrase post-TGS is Over 120. Knowing Koei, usually this means the final number of playable units will be 12x, or somewhere between 121 to 129. There are some rare exceptions though with a recent certain Koei-Tecmo internal crossover Warriors game.

But anyway, 129 is pretty much the most optimistic, while still realistic, speculation on the final playable roster. The actual final number could be anything lower than that though, but not any lower than 120. :hehe:
