Does it seem like the Morale system hardly means anything anymore?

I've been watching SW4-II gameplay, and I heard that they made changes to the systems so that godspeed attacks only work well when allied morale is high...that's cool and all, but it seems like morale rises way too easy in these games. The same goes for Dynasty Warriors. All it asks you to is follow objectives and bam, morale shoots up. I guess it goes back to the battles in these games being too scripted (less so in SW but mission objectives gives it such a feel)

There is a lot more that can be done in terms of unit's own morale for instance. Why is it just that Troops only get hard to kill when a standard bearer is near? And why is there a standard bearer as if there should be more than one type of flag bearer? Shouldn't troops get bonus for nearby officers? Or hell, even being in a base?

Yeah I actually agree on this, morale should have a significantly larger impact on the game

If you play SW4 and SW4 II obviously morale mean nothing because all you have to do is kill the banner guy and then boom spam C1 to your delight. Now try to do that in SW Chronicle 3 and then you feel how useful the morale system is.

Even in chronicles 3 you can easily sweep a stage with a single character even if you fail every mission XD

The question right now is about the morale system and obviously you can complete any of the SW4 with just 1 character, heck I can complete Sekigahara(Mitsunari Forces) with Mitsunari only and keep my all of ally alive and Osaka Castle(Hideyoshi Forces) with Original Character only in SW3 Chronicles.

Yes I've also done that Mitsunari BEASTS XD I'm saying the Morale system hardly affects combat at all that's noticeable, they need to tweak the morale system or just remove it altogether because it's rather useless

I agree SWC3 handles it pretty well, but it could still use some improvement. At times when it goes up and down seems totally arbitrary.

No they shouldn't just get rid of it as it's the series main mechanic. They need better its function so that it has significant effects again.

Well, at least in recent DW they somewhat replaced it with a different concept. Now when a message says "character x is in high spirits" or something like that it's supposed to mean their morale is high. Usually happens when you help out someone or achieve a certain K.O. count.

i'm not sure about morale system . does it make your soldier stronger or no ? i think they should change the system from morale to presence . so if TADAKATSU or LU BU entering X area , all the soldier morale is uproar because of the hero's presence . but if DIAO CHAN have different effect , maybe weakened enemy's male hero .
