So do anyone here bought the full game? Any impressions?

I probably won't buy it because the game modes are lacking. Story mode focuses only on Marineford (why???), Bounty Hunter mode looks reptitive and I don't play much online (just like Lion_Of_Sagami and Fuuma).

Things are changing but what killed my interest in fighting game is the online competitive gaming. It's generally not fun and it was for a long time just an excuse for devellopers not to create real any new good story modes and extra modes. Fighting games could have become much more than what they are now (look at Soul Calibur III or Guilty Gear Judgement story modes).

J-Star had a training mode...

just do 2P vs mode and leave the other controller alone as you wail on the dummy character. :D
:(

what's ironic is i heard that the old JP version(the non-plus one) has training mode but they removed it in J Stars Plus

I'm gonna buy it. Should be out in the stores in June 3th here.

GGJ is a beat em up, not a fighting game, and the story is terrible, especially when compared to SCIII

Well, it's a fighting series which tried to do things different and to expand on the existing gameplay, just like SC3. I didn't say it was good, but at least, they inovated.

And if I remember well, the game had the last entry of Guilty Gear as a bonus (or is it just the PSP version?).

A friend of mine has the game, played it for some hours, and I stand with what I said; too slow and clunky. Some attacks have a hitbox problem, too.

At least they gave Koala a good moveset. She's basically a more agile and acrobatic version of Jinbe. Wouldn't mind seeing her in PW4.

I agree with your previous statement about fighting games could be much more than they are now. Sadly however, most fighting games get shafted by big name companies that are just looking to make a quick buck, so they rush the development and spit out a half finished game. It's the industry that's corrupt now, really. That's why we rarely see any originality or innovation in games nowadays, because the companies developing them simply don't care about quality in their products anymore. It's all about quantity and making a lot of money now.

Rarely, we might get something a little interesting and innovative, but it's very VERY rare when that happens. I loved SCIII too and think III is the best one out of all of them really. That RTS and RPG game mode was amazing, more fighting games need stuff like that. I never played GGJ and didn't even know it existed, tbh...I would have to look that one up. Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax is a really good one too and is one of those rare newer fighting games that has some innovation in it. Tekken 4 had a beat em up adventure mode. DBZ Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi 2 had the best story modes, Tenkaichi 3 was okay too and included way more characters than the others. DBZ Xenoverse is technically a fighting game/MMO hybrid, which works and it's tons of fun. Ehrgeiz for the PS1 is a good classic with a full on Dungeon mode and RPG mechanics, Tobal No. 1 and 2 had the same things. Street Fighter Alpha 3's world tour mode was awesome. Rival Schools has tons of mini games and variety.

Man....they seriously don't make fighting games like they used to anymore..

Judgment is what SC Wii(forgot the title, the one that had Tales characters in it too) is to the SC series, its a completely different spinoff instead of a fighting game with alternative contents in it

you might be confused with Guilty Gear ISUKA, a PS2 GG game that has both fighting(new style, you can do 2 vs 2 and lane switch a la Fatal Fury IIRC,) and beat em up mode in ONE GAME(it's also the only game allows you to customize Robo Ky a la Combot in TTT2)

Judgment came with a free XX#Reload, an outdated version of the GG game it was based on, the last GG game before XRD SIGN is called Accent Core+ which was around 4 titles/expansions further than Reload and also available for PSP as a separate game.

i dunno about the latest one, but Netherrealm fighters like MK9 and Injustice had crapton of single player contents that should keep you company for like, over 50++ hours of not fighting normally.

Yeah, Deception was amazing on the PS2/X Box. That Konquest mode really immersed the player into the MK world. I hate how they never expanded on it in later MK games. Never played Injustice, though I've seen nothing but vs mode on the internet via Evo tournament vids and such...what single player modes are in that one? If it's interesting enough I may have to pick it up.

SCIII was the way to go. Tactical and fighting games mixed so well, they could do the same with RPG...

Arcade(different story from story mode, just like MKDC, MK9, and MKX), various ladders, and S.T.A.R labs, which is like the Tower from MK9, but with even more minigames, and an actual story to boot for each character, where sometimes you play as characters not playable in the regular game, like The Atom, there's also the Red Sons expansion where everyone is Russian and the BGM is the Russian national anthem non-stop.

Oh, look. Another One Piece has been announced. One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum, for 3DS.

Bandai Namco is developing a new One Piece Game 2D battle action game for 3DS called One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum, the latest issue of Jump reveals.

The magazine doesn’t reveal much in the way of details. There will be a mode where you sail around the world and build a team of your favorite pirates. Defeating rivals will steadily increase your prize money. There are also combos and simple controls.

A release date and price were not announced.

2D battle action game? Sounds interesting, too bad it's only for 3DS.

Now THAT looks fun and worth buying and that game mode makes it even more enticing.

Sigh....but again...the best games always come out exclusively for handhelds only. First the PSP and DS, then the PSP Vita and 3DS...it's like all the originality and innovation is strictly geared towards handhelds while all the mainstream crap gets shoved down our throats through consoles.

So damn annoying....at first, I boycotted all these awesome handheld games, but I'm starting to really buckle...and even considering playing ONLY handhelds from now on.

They made a patch version 1.04 that will make some gameplay balances and adjustments. Some moves have been re-examined and they changed some of the points for supports. And I think it fixed some glitches/bugs as well.

Game will be out tomorrow, but I don't have time to play it on Friday so I'm just gonna grab it early next week instead.

Got the game today, here are some first impressions and thoughts:

- The package comes with a neat poster that's basically same as the game's cover art. It looks pretty cool, already hanged it on the wall in my room :D too bad there was no physical manual, but I guess they're a thing of the past now

- The game got installed really fast and the patch doesn't take too long as well so I got to play the game fairly quickly.

- I'm surprised that there was no sort of actual opening, but I guess that's not really a big deal.

- I love the menus! They look so stylish, pirate-ish and One Piece-ish :hehe: I just liked spending a lot of the time in the menus alone because they look so cool

- Combat is pretty difficult! I find myself often finishing the battle with very little HP or occasionally dying too  could be because I'm not very good at fighting games or the game is actually difficult. However, I certainly am having lots of fun in the battles already ^_^ especially when you can swap between 3 characters at any time

- The story doesn't really have any sort of intro, it basically starts right off where Summit War Saga apparently begins (or so I think, I haven't reached that in the anime yet). The cutscenes look a bit more comic-style than the ones in PW3

- Unlike in PW3, the voice gallery sound samples are actually translated to text this time so you get to see what the characters are saying

- There are 2 Smokers, I have no idea why. I haven't tried either one yet, but some people at GameFAQ say the other one is simply worse version of the other and that there's really not much difference in their movesets

One Piece: Burning Blood to add three new DLC characters chosen by user vote

Quote:

Bandai Namco will add three new playable characters to One Piece: Burning Blood via paid downloadable content in the coming months. Those characters, however, have yet to be decided and will be determined by user vote.

The publisher launched a new website today where users can vote from the following characters:

Arlong
Caesar Clown
Cavendish
Coby
Diamante
Don Krieg
Kaku
Kuro
Megllan
Monkey D. Garp
Nefeltari Vivi
Rebecca
Rob Lucci
Señor Pink
Tashigi
Trebol
Vergo

The top three most voted characters will be added to One Piece: Burning Blood as downloadable content.

I voted Vivi of course, and everyone should do the same! :beard:

I'm also very surprised Monet isn't on that list.

I voted for Arlong! :P and Vivi & Caesar Clown too (with two more separate e-mails).

About the game, I've really enjoyed it so far even though I hardly play online. The single player content is plenty to me and I've liked the story though it's fairly short. Will write a review here some time soon.

The game is selling pretty well (not surprising, it's One Piece lol), so I guess we'll definitely see a sequel someday. Hopefully with a lot of new characters to play, and less clunky gameplay.

I've enjoyed the game, but I've seen a lot of people complain about it, especially at GameFaq: mainly about the story mode being bad and combat being unbalanced or something.

Second point is debatable (they do have patched the game a few times in a short period of time to make some fixes), but first point is something I'd like to address too. The story is simply Marineford extracted from the manga with no real changes. There's no any sort of smooth introduction to the story for non-OP fans, it just... begins. It's also very short, you could clear it in 4-5 hours. So I hope next time they will:
1) make the story more accessible to non-OP fans
2) make it a lot longer
3) change even some events to freshen things up, this seems to be Marineford with absolutely no changes

One could argue the background for story and characters is simply found in Collection (the gallery), but I feel there's still room for improvement when it comes to the story.

I voted for Señor Pink, would have a very unique style. I'd expect a bigger story mode, otherwise many people wouldn't buy this.

The story mode (Paramount War) was indeed way too short, even though it was filled with cutscenes. It's really just 3 and a half times of the same story, because while Luffy's, Whitebeard's and Akainu's stories felt like a full story, Ace's was just like a bonus on top of those three: only 3 mandatory battles + 2 tough extra battles.

Voting has ended and top-3 most popular ones, who will be added as DLC chaaracters, are Lucci, Caesar and Garp.

http://www.siliconera.com/2016/07/08/one-piece-burning-bloods-fan-vote-adds-caesar-clown-monkey-d-garp-rob-lucci-game/

Caesar alone makes this worth buying to me, but I'm happy that Lucci and Garp will be added too because they were in PW3.
