Wow, a particularly DFC Sanzo? I must say this is a very appealing design. Still have a strooooong suspicion this is a trap, though. Mr. K is avoiding using female pronouns when describing this Sanzo as a "beautiful person." Using "bijin" instead of say, "bijo"/"bishoujo." Even though bijin is typically used for females(just like in English you don't normally call a man "beautiful"), it still can be used to refer to someone who just happens to look female... Also considering how immensely popular in anime/games nowadays in Japan the notion of boys who, for all accounts, are girls with male bits underneath... We already had Ranmaru afterall. Also see: Bridget from Guilty Gear, Jun from Happiness!, Haku from Naruto, and Mariya from Maria+Holic. Edited by SRS, Wed Feb 25, 2009 1:01 pm.

Guan Yin and Guan Yu don't have the same "Guan" in their names. Besides, people don't think that Sun Wukong and Sun Jian are related or anything. Just out of curiosity, have any of the Japanese sources actually said that Sanzang's a woman? I know, I know, she LOOKS like one, but KOEI usually gives their women a little bit of, well, bosom. Even Xiao Qiao and Oichi. But Sanzang's as flat as a board. Plus, it's not like KOEI's never made intentionally androgynous characters before. |

So the last character is... Sanzang.. unbelievable. Anw, she is a good character with her costume design! I like this style. And I don't think Himiko, Wukong & Sanzang are a Dream Mode Team... Because in the scan, their cutscene isn't in a same stage. I think the new Dream Team is Himiko, Sanzang, Nu Wa :')! Edited by GuanPing, Wed Feb 25, 2009 1:02 pm.

The scan specifically says the team for that dream stage is Sanzo, Goku and Himiko. |

In the scan, it seems Female Sanzang trying to do something with Taigong Wang and Da Ji. Is she trying to make the two rival genius become friends? That will be a very interesting thing.

Xuanzang makes 96. Quite a hefty amount of playable characters (not counting Empires games). Wonder how her personality will be here. |

Nooooo traps please, Koei! lolI wonder what "her" name will be in the English version? my vote--> Tripitaka (Maybe I like it more because I'm used to "Tripitaka" more than Xuanzang / Sanzang-fashi / Tang-seng) |

Even though I prefer the sound of "Sanzo" as a name, I'm pretty certain they'll use "San Zang" as they've used the Chinese name for all Chinese characters up to now. |

Well, I always thought that the reason the PS2 didn't have it is because of everything going on throughout the levels, with constant switching of characters, the hardware of the PS2 couldn't handle it. 360, though technically superior, I guess didn't have it because Koei was lazy and didn't want to improve on it other than graphics. |

Doh! You're totally right - My mind blanked on the fact that their actually a Chinese character. ![]() So, does this mean that the new characters (Benkei and San Zang) get 5 palette swaps, or will they recieve new models as well? Hm. |

Well, even though I was certain that Sanzang was a girl in the comment box, after reading Seraphil's comments and looking closer at the picture, I'd say it very well could be a trap. Not that it'd bother me much anyway- except I'd want to slap the designers. STOP TRYING TO DECEIVE ME. Also, didn't the clue say "SHE" put the circlet on Wukong's head? Once again, could be a trap. Either way, it's not Shizuka, and for that I'm pleased. Just... if that stage with Da Ji, Sanzang and Taigong Wang is true, I'll be sad. Nah, I just won't just that arrogant pompous jerk to begin with. No big deal. |

Lovely design. I wonder if she'll go in my favorite female list, headed by Ginchiyo and perhaps Yue Ying, always liked her old weapon. I'm looking forward to her moves in action, as Benkei from that video hasn't really impressed me much. Great news about 2 player as well, cheers BlackKite. |

I'm relatively sure (I'm remembering the scan mind you, though) that the kana said 'The person who placed the circlet on Sun Wukong's head in Journey to the West'. The fact that the shillouette had long elegant sleeves and contro-posto hips, combined with the fact that in many cases San Zang has been protrayed as a male, was probably what directed people towards believing it was Guan Yin herself. San Zang, Da Ji and Taigong Wang all have different dramatic mode stages. The groups are; A) Nu Wa, Fu Xi, Taigong Wang B) Da Ji, Gyuki, Dodomeki C) San Zang, Sun Wukong, Himiko |

Well, we'll have to see. A dramatic mode stage with Taigong Wang & Da Ji isn't too far-fetched, with them being rivals an all - the odd man out would be San Zang, who may not have anything specifically to do with them as for we know. We'll need to see how San Zang interacts with people to see if that grouping could make sense. |
