I think Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru as a title is good as it describes well the game and its theme. It also doesn't have the "4" in the title, which makes it a bit more detached from the previous SW4-saga games, something that they probably intended anyway. But, as Mushin said, it says nothing to even a semi-fan and they may even wonder if it has anything to do with the previous three SW4 games.

Unlike DW Godseekers, which has very different gameplay mechanics compared to DW8, SW Sanada Maru is more or less continues SW4's combat system. I highlight that comparison because both games are the most recent ones in their series and both likely end up being digital-only. This is why I think they should just name it Samurai Warriors 4-III even if it sounds a bit arbitrary, because at least it gives unaware players the idea that it'll be similar to SW4 & SW4-II in terms of gameplay (SW4 Empires at least sounds different enough and I'm glad they've always used that subtitle in those games).

Mew does have a good point that people who are interested in the series & history are mainly the ones who're gonna buy the games. SW Sanada Maru really won't be the one casual gamers should start with anyway, only the fans really understand the meaning and point of the name.

Honestly, if I were to recommend a casual gamer to pick up a new SW game, I'd recommend SW4 because it provides a good overview of the era and includes all of the most important battles. It also has the most plain title of the four SW4 games (seriously, I still find SW4-II bad name because it implies the game being a direct sequel of some sort, which is not... even most reviewers made completely incorrect conclusions of the content because of that).

I personally would have hoped for a game with more heart and content in it.
However Koei's Yukimura is a lost cause. They just add contrieved fictional friendships for him or family members that were not even around during the Siege.
Sis Muramatsu for example is totally forgotten at this point. Even Nobuyuki is forgotten at this point. Daisuke and Akihime at least were historically around Yukimura during the Siege until Yukimura sent Akihime away and kid Daisuke left to stick with Yodo and Hideyori and decided to kill himself when Yodo and Hideyori died.

The Siege is always lackluster and other defenders never get any focus.

Speaking of Hideyori: Kids singing a song about Hideyori who does not even exist in this game? Rather do not mention him at all the Toyotomi situation is already ridiculous.
Also if they want to keep Chacha they have to change her drastically.

I personally don't get why it is such a problem: Nene and Hideyoshi do not have children and he has been portrayed to be willing to cheat on her many times.

Game's title is Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada
Date of release: May, 26. And seems like Western release is PS4 only.

Looks like I was wrong, it did get Sanada in its title :yukimura: :nobuyuki:

Is it going to have a physical copy release?

And how is this backstabbing PS3 players... it's 2017 already. I recommend buying PS4, as most developers have stopped caring about PS3.

Wow, that's a bit later than I thought, Koei are definitely trying to push the release dates between Eastern and Western further and further apart. I guess we definitely won't be seeing DW9 in the West for another year at least. Thank you for the information, suppose I'll have Mass Effect Andromeda to keep me entertained until then.

If they didn't care about the PS3, they wouldn't have relased a PS3 version of this game in Japan. BACKSTABBING.

Not really backstabbing, just going with where they're most likely to profit from in the west. PS3 market is like dead here

Did 4-2 even get a ps3 release?

PS4's are expensive even in the west, and I wish we'd get this on Nintendo Switch.

PS4 might still cost quite a lot, but it's just silly to expect a PS3 release and get upset when it's not happening. PS3 is a last-gen console and as Bubble said, PS3 market is less profitable in the west. If it's not happening then it's not happening, simple as that.

There is no excuse to not release a PS3 version when they have one available. Specially when it could have been made digital-only. Also, saying that the PS3 market is dead is stupid, there is no proof of that, in fact, there can't, because its not true.

This is no different than what they did in the PS2-PS3 gen ... Japan got some PS2 versions of games they only released on PS3 in the west.

As their primary market is in Japan, that's the way it's going to be.

the fact is the PS3 might as well be dying in the West. Sure plenty of people still have it in the west but with the PS4 and its PS4 Slim and what not, really the PS3's days are numbered. and the only reason Japan still gets any game on the PS3 is because their the primary market for the Japanese developers not just Koei.

the PS4 is the current generation of console players in the west. So Spirit of the Sanada being only on the PS4 makes sense. and honestly don't even see how it can be labeled as backstabbing the PS3 users, when as stated PS3 is not a primary market anymore.

When was the last time a PS3 exclusive game came out? The market has been slowly dwindling down over the years like what happened with the PS2-3 era. Still waiting on that EU DW6 Special :hehe:

Makore is expecting Musou Stars to have secret playable characters already in game so hardly surprising that he expected this game to come to PS3, which is dying off especially in the West :XD . In a way I'm glad it's just for PS4, the more effort Koei puts into current generation the better.

So how exactly you not being able to understand how something common can easily happen in Musou Stars fits in all of this? I don't care about any excuses you give. If the game exists for PS3, it should be released for PS3 here as well, not having a PS3 version at all is one thing, stupid limitations for no reason are other completely different. They're making games for PSVita, do you actually think that crappy forgotten runner-up to 3DS sells more than PS3 games?

I agree, it'll be for the best when they can finally leave last gen behind. I mean it's been a long time the PS4 has been out for now, it's only natural to start focusing on the current gen.

I am really excited to get my hands on this though

so it's not SW5? honest i was kind of disappointed, i was hoping that KT gave it a dumber, more blunder-y name to cheer me up....
oh and about the whole English PS3 version rant thingie, here's a different take on it:

what about asian countries/places that still has relevant PS3 followers like Japan, but does not really fond of playing in in Japanese? thos are the ones that got hit the hardest, the Murikans could care less about the PS3, and i can understand that much, but it's the Asians that usually complains

different mindset of when to move on to a newer console applies, there's no one sane enough in my neighborhood to buy a PS3/VITA/3DS/PS4/XBONE day one of launch/preorders them, they usually wait at least 3~4 years after that, or more....while still holding on to they perfectly working last gen stuffs

That's a pretty good name for it and descriptive of what it's about, especially since nobody else has to conform to the drama tie-in.

Refurbished PS4s cost like 100 bucks from Gamestop now that PS4Pro is coming out. If you can, it's time to upgrade from PS3.

Anyway, Nanar, as stated earlier, yep, it's coming out. Sometime in May.

Apparently the western release of the game gets a special unique pre-order bonus costume for chacha thats not in the japanese version of the game.
