I am sorry for bringing this up again ,but there needs to be English voice acting .I am tired of missing some dialogues because I am focusing on fighting .

There is a battle log so you can always read up on what you missed.

I like all the little things to do in town. I'm enjoying reading all the character bios to find out their favourite items :hehe:

That wouldn't solve the whole problem .Imagine the dialogues are in Japanese and if you want to know what they are saying you have to go to the battle log to know what they are saying .

I would pay extra 20$ for English voice acting .

Eh i doubt we will ever have english dub again when it comes to Samurai Warriors. the closest we got to it is with Naotora in DOA5LR and funimation getting english voices for the anime of SW4. not only that it makes sense why the characters speak in japanese as it is thier language.

Not saying its better but i just kinda doubt we will see english dub again because since Warriors orochi 3, english dub has become a rarity in the Warriors genre. Arslan, Berserk, Samurai Warriors, Warriors-All Stars, and i think One Piece Warriors as well. Even DW8: Empires went with japanese dub. only warriors game i remember getting the english dub treatment is Dw8 and DW8: XL (and most had serious issues with Zhang Liao's voice).

and honestly i think the voices in 3 were the worst case of the english voices for the SW cast. 2 had some good voices but there were still bad ones such as Keiji and Nene. 1 had reasonably good voices but still had bad ones such as with Oichi, Ranmaru, and i think Ieyasu. so personally i rather they go with japanese dub with english subs as it makes the game feel more like its in japan, and frankly DW has a better track record of having good voices for its characters. and i think english voices is a minor thing compared to well gameplay and story elements.

The dialogue is in Japanese though?

It takes like 2 seconds to hit the touchpad and bring up the battle log which updates all the time so it's not like it's hard to do

I meant if the subtitles were in Japanese ,and if you wanted English sub then you have to go to the battle log , will you be ok with that ?

That would only happen if you were impatient enough to import the Japanese game :hehe:

It's not like it's a new thing Koei games being Sub only. And it's not like the massive text box on the screen is hard to miss either

Imo, opening up the battle log to review dialogue is a pacebreaker. I'd also be willing to pay extra money for an English dub. But DW9 is probably the next Warriors game that has any real chance of being dubbed.

Anyway, this game is actually making me like the Takeda a lot more. In the past I only perceived them as a setpiece to help introduce the Sanada clan, but now I think I'd be more open to what-ifs where the Takeda take the land.

Any what-if where the Tokugawa don't win is fine by me, though. That faction teeters the line between being merely bland to just plain not having any likable characters to me. Barring Ina and maybe Nobuyuki, the latter I still typically think of as a Sanada character rather then a Tokugawa character.

Honestly i think a clan-based story should definitely not be for the toyotomi, tokugawa, or oda. only because you can pretty much tell those stories within the main games. but if we do get more clan based stories like this i definitely think some of the other clans would benefit from it

i think a Clan Based Story around the Kyushu Region with the Tachibana, Shimazu, Otomo, and Ryuzoji.

and a clan based story on the Date, Hojo, Uesugi, or Mori would also be cool.

but i really think this is by far the best Game in the Samurai Warriors Series. as it adds more of a open world feel to it, has a age system, and is more of a RPG. the only real disappointments for me is the fact they did not make Muramatsu playable or give Katsuyori/Hidetada Unique weapons. and didnt make Matabei Goto playable.

I do hope that if SW5 does clan based stories like SW4 did, then they adopt SoS' story-telling model. In particular, I'd enjoy seeing the Uesugi presented like this.

Kagetora and Kagekatsu's relationship in SW4 had potential, but I think it suffered from a lack of time to really develop their relationship as adopted siblings.

Yeah i dont really think the Takeda need a clan based story anymore since it was partially told in Spirit of Sanada but i definitely wouldnt mind if the Uesugi got one, though i would prefer if the Kyushu region or the Mori got more focus.

They did a good job covering the peak of the Takeda's power and their eventual downfall. However, I wouldn't mind if a future game covered Shingen's rise to power and how he ousted his father from power. I think that'd be a very interesting time period to explore in regards to story telling.

Here's a question now a lot of you've played a decent amount of this game.

So I've not played SW4 yet (or 4-II/Empires), which I do plan to get to at some point, however this game seems to do some interesting things, plus the more directed story interests me (and also my brother who wants to split the cost, so they are about the same cost as well).

Essentially I'm wondering if it's worth getting this game if I've yet to play any of the SW4 games. The more directed narrative does intrigue me more than the clan based system of 4, and the multi-phase battles sounds like it has some good potential, plus all the wee RPG elements seem like an interesting change.

I would hands down get this game first even so you havent played the others.

SW4 + SW4-2/SW4 are also great but SoS beats them all 3 easily.

IMO. :hiss:

I think dynasty warriors can definately make spirit of the shu kingdom. Basically the same rpg elements and have the life story of liu bei, liu chan zhuge liang and the fall of shu.

That would be like watching the tv series only we get to play it.Lol

I highly recommend it, was worth the $40 for sure for me. I've played SW4 and this is better imo. In the top 5 warriors game of all time for me.

The open world is a bit underdeveloped but there's enough variety to keep things from getting tedious. Battles are what drew me into the game because there are a lot of approaches you can take with the strategem system.

Framerate is jarring and horrendous but I think everyone here has gotten numb to it. These games would be so much better if they ran smoother. Also, you get a chance to play as non-Sanada chars in more challenging bonus battles in other places. It's a great game for me because it has some elements of some of the best games in both series. Challenges, collectibles, and a story with a lot of heart which has rarely been as present in both DW and SW compared to this game. Though the story only picks up by the end of the first half probably.

So yeah, skip SW4. If anything that would've added to my enjoyment for not needing to put up with all the generic new faces and focus on the chars I actually like.

I would easily suggest getting Spirit of Sanada. not only because it has a larger story focused then 4, 4-2, and Empires. but it gives you a massive story on the Sanada and the Takeda's downfall and even has some interesting plot twists and there is a occasional historical reference here and there

it also has alot more of a open world elements to it which i suspect we can expect in Dynasty Warriors 9. got side quest, larger castle towns, even some minor mini-games for spawning materials such as farming, fishing, and a jizo statue. there is also the strategm system and there is enough stuff to do to keep things from being tedious. and they even increased the max level to 99 instead of just 50 unlike SW4 and 4-2.

but this game also has the entire roster up to date. which includes the 5 new playable characters with a exception of Muramatsu who should of been playable in my opinion

I have all 4 sw titles. I say buy all four IF you want to collect them just so u have them . But, if u just want a few, then i say, get sw4empires and sw spirit of the sanada.

Sos has rpg writen all over it and the characters really play their parts well. The story is rich and the sanada brothers remind me of suikoden 2 joey and ryuo.
The exploration maps are fun to farm and level up in. I spend lots of time in those. Thats why i'm only on ch9, lmao.

Sw4empires is clearly the best empires game for sw series, with over 200 create officer possibilities, fun facter good dlc and very good senerios.
