@SRS, Manjii: but the relationship chart on the site only shows Kunoichi connected to Yukimura. She was probably sent ahead to find Katsuyori only to find him just before he died.
No, because the site literally says "The Takeda shinobi, Kunoichi."

All those DLC costumes and none of the guys get a little sex appeal. I'm out, screw this.
Japan isn't as progressive as some other places.

I'm never gonna understand why people expect places like Japan to be just as gender inclusive as other places like say the US.

It seems pretty progressive from outside.
Japan isn't the cultural Promised Land anime wants you to think it is. They're just as screwed up as everyone else; they're just more willing to bury their mistakes than most other cultures (culturally this doesn't fly in the West).

It's just like how everyone in the 80s thought all Anime was porn because of some tentacle rape hentai they saw and thought everyone in Japan was a sexual deviant (because OMG they show this smut to children!!)

The way gays are treated in Japan is already much better than here in Brazil. IIRC, Brazil is one of the countries with most cases of murder of homossexuals, and there are even people who get beaten or killed because they were thought to be gays, even if they weren't.

Rather than look at Japan, I think it's more instructive to look at KOEI as a company.

KOEI just seems to have a more conservative corporate culture, which is kind of weird since they started out making cheap eroge games. Their incorporation of Tecmo (boobies) and Gust (boobies+yuri) seems like it should have altered their culture. Somehow though, I still think that they are relatively conservative with their historically based products.

There are plenty of other Japanese companies, in either anime or gaming, which are a lot more "open," if that makes sense. I just think KOEI tries to avoid any kind of controversial topic in these games, whether it's homosexuality or religion. They're just really straight-laced.

Aren't that newest bunch of DLC costumes based on the Taiga drama outfits? So it's literally matching them like the Kanbei CAW outfit in 4.

I mean sure half naked men would be nice but they would have needed to look like that in the drama

KOEI should just go back to making eroge games, starting with a partnership with Alicesoft.

I know, I have the best ideas.

Dead or Alive 5 what? I don't see why a conservative company would sell games with so much sexuality on both female and male characters.

And your point is? SW4 and SW4II had sexy costumes, I fail to see why suddenly would everything be limited to a drama.

My point is that this is a spin off game taking inspiration from the taiga drama, as one member keeps pointing out with some of the story decisions that they're making. So the newest wave of dlc costumes are stated to be a tie in to the drama so they're literally wearing those outfits from it.

No need to be rude about it

If Samurai Warriors had an actual focus on story, maybe the claim that they "take inspiration from the drama" would be right. But they never had a good storytelling, the only thing similar to the drama is the fact that the Sanada are the main focus. And that still doesn't excuse the lack of sexy costumes.

They suddenly makes the DLC costumes female only for SW for unknown reason. DW didn't get this treatment(all characters gets dlc costume).

I can predict the reason are despite a good chunk of female(and gays) fanbase..the main majority is still male(straight).

The claim that the majority of gamers is male, straight and young, is an old preconception. And besides, pretty much anything on that matter can still be argued against with DoA5's DLC content. And, like you said, DW still has a lot of DLC for both genders, so there is very little explanation as to why SW would be so "unbalanced" on that matter.

I addressed this in my post.

KOEI absorbed Tecmo and Gust, both of which are a bit unconventional.

As far as I know though, KOEI has different gaming divisions and I suspect that these have different corporate cultures as well. What's halal in one might not be ok in another.

You know, instead of ignoring the fact that Sanada Maru is blatantly inspired by the drama you'd actually notice that adding in costumes inspired by the drama is appropriate.

Yet it's more convenient to ignore that to go on a "I need more sex appeal in my game" rant.

Actually, you know what... I already decided I had enough of your posts too.

Being accepting of sexual depictions of women is not an inherently progressive or even liberal stance. It just means you don't adhere to the Christian bits of conservatism. Many conservatives, particularly the alt right, view women as sexual objects and thus lack the whole "sex=bad" mindset. Just like many progressives or liberals seem prudish out of a desire to not accidentally or purposefully sexualize women in an objectifying way.

More on topic, Koei has told good stories before. Kessen 3 for instance. There were a few stories in past Samurai Warriors games that, while maybe not great, did leave a lasting impact on me. I have confidence that with a focus on a single clan (plus Chacha), they can tell a great story.

I feel like they had good stories in NA: SOI too. A problem, from my perspective, is that they have different divisions. Omega Force in my opinion doesn't really tell great stories most of the time. Every now and then they'll throw in something that hits me right in the feels, but most of the time they're just corny.

If they continue to make sexy female costume, there should be a sexy male costume too.. Capcom has beaten Koei senseless for this, with Ieyasu for example. Theres so many female and lgbt gamer now, its only fair, and you know they will buy them XD

...

Koei doesnt need to tell the best stories, but presenting cutscene well with dif camera angles, pauses, and emotional faces (basic cues) go a long way.... After that, i dont mind how they lay out the facts for the story.

So I have seen Episode 44 of Sanadamaru now. Wow time flies past quickly only a couple of episodes left.

Posted Image

Ono Otsu is now finally included more in Nobuyuki's storyline. It seems that he meets up with her more frequently now.

Posted Image

Ina is already immediately depicted as suspicious and she seems to immediately know that Nobuyuki spends time with another woman.

Not sure if they will make Otsu a concubine, they can if they want to despite the nature of the Nobuyuki-Otsu relationship not being entirely clear however even an ally would be ok. It does seem to lead into some kind of jealousy or potentially cheating plot (Ina is a tsundere. She does seem to have feelings for her husband however it is diffucult for her to show them).

Posted Image

Date Masamune has returned just like announced in summaries for the future episodes.

Posted Image

He will apparently be important in the storylines of Akihime, Yukimura's and Akihime's second son Daihachi and of daughter Umehime.

Next episode looks quite entertaining:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Yodo wearing Hideyoshi's clothes.

Posted Image

More Sanada Daisuke action.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Akihime returns. I always enjoy her scenes. It also helps that her actress is super cute.

If you are interested how the female characters looked like in Sanada Taiheiki:

Posted Image

This was Ina.

Posted Image

The woman on the right is Akihime. Next to her are Umehime and Aguri/Ageri.

Posted Image

This was Ono Otsu in Sanada Taiheiki.

It's kinda funny that Sanadamaru is considered kinda "racey" for a Taiga dorama.

Masayuki cheating on Yamanote-dono/Kaoru with a fake courtesan who turns out to be a kunoichi.

Yukimura does have a certain type of women he has the hots for. The headstrong but highly calculative type of woman. His first wife (Hotta's sister) and Akihime are exactly like this. I remember that I read that people said that this Taiga was kinda "crossing lines" in the scenes of Yukimura's and Akihime's wedding night since he asked her "Shall we go to bed?".

Nobuyuki getting two women (his first wife Sanada Nobutsuna's daughter and Ina) pregnant around the same time frame which however seems to be true in history. Now he has that ??? relationship with Otsu.

I hope they don't do the same **** as they did to helmetless Mitsunari and Toyohisa and make it an extremely expensive DLC. I'll be really pissed if they do that.

There are a few things I really like about the latest screenshots, I was going to post them but didn't get 'round to it.

First of all, are they Sanada men that Sasuke has seemingly killed in one of his screenshots, he is supposedly trained by Hanzo initially so I suppose that is a possibility right? Also I think he looks a lot better with his mask up, having his face hidden but having those dual blades at his side makes him seem a lot more intimidating.

I also really like the screenshot where Masayuki is smirking, I've no idea what reason he'd have for doing it obviously but it does hint towards him being a crafty schemer which I hope isn't too sugarcoated because he's Yukimura's father. He needs to come across quite ambiguous to be done correctly.

Does anybody else think that the title Sanadamaru is totally wrong for this game?

It hardly seems to include pivotal plotpoints in Yukimura's later life and from the second half of the drama and seems to focus just on his youth.
