Nioh as a part of the Warriors?!

Hello everybody,

in the last weeks I have been playing a lot Nioh and of course I did notice that a lot of the cool Samurai Warriors Characters e.g. Hattori Hanzo or Oda Nobunaga make their appearance.
So my question is not if Nioh really is a part of Samurai Warriors and it's whole story. Cause I know Yokai and so on are not part of Koeis Games.
But I am curious as to why I have not found a thread about Nioh relating to Samurai Warriors. I mean some parts of the story the games share with each other.
So to maybe start a discussion or something like that.

What is YOUR opinion about Nioh in general and furthermore do YOU think it relates to Samurai Warriors and deserves a place in the heart of a Samurai Warriors Fan?!

Hey there,

Nioh is a different series from Samurai Warriors, it's just part of the same historical setting. Kinda like how Samurai Warriors vs Sengoku BASARA.

Most of the characters look quite different (usually more realistic and grounded) in Nioh.

As for my general opinion for Nioh, it's awesome. I find the gameplay more enjoyable and challenging than the Warriors format.

Nioh is as unrelated to Samurai Warriors as much Nobunaga's Ambition and Kessen is not related to each other, despite all taking place in the Sengoku era and all is made by KOEI

Not related to each other. Only similarities really is thier both set in Japan, both are in a historical setting, both have sekigahara. but the real major difference is the designs of the characters. Samurai Warriors has a More Anime-Style in thier designs while Nioh has a more realistic-grounded designs. Nioh also has Yokai unlike Samurai Warriors.

and as Wodash pointed out. Nobunaga's Ambition and Kessen are similar but have nothing to do with each other. so same thing applies to Nioh and Samurai Warriors.

tho its possible we could get different versions of Nagamasa Kuroda, Yasuke, William Adams, Hideaki Kobayakawa in Samurai Warriors in the future. but totally different characters from the Nioh versions. Personality wise, weapon wise, and design wise. and moveset wise too

Both games are based on a history.

They're not related in any way.

I don't really see William having any chance of making an appearance in SW series.

Personally i dont either. Because History Wise, William does not show up until around Sekigahara which doesnt really lave much for him to do in Samurai Warriors.

Yasuke has a bigger chance as he was a Page to Nobunaga, and Nagamasa Kuroda and Hideaki Kobayakawa are both very important figures for the battle of Sekigahara.

So i dont really think William will get a SW depiction.

I would not be surprised if they added Samurai Warriors counterparts to the Nioh characters. Like anime versions of William, Okatsu, Yasuke and other characters, because they got more popular due to Nioh and they are an excellent opportunity for a Nioh costume pack for the next SW game. But I don't think they'll end up a crossover.

just getting confirmation here but i assume by Nioh getting Samurai Warriors Counterparts you mean, like Nioh getting its own versions of Mitsuhide, Nene, Hideyoshi, Hanbei, and so on correct? and SW getting counterparts of Nioh such as Yasuke and William?

Apologies in advance just trying to make sure i understand you correctly.

But i wouldnt mind if they did make a costume pack for the next SW game based on the Nioh Costumes. Lu Bu pretty much got William's Outfit in Musou Stars, so i dont see a problem for them doing the same for SW.

No, not adding to Nioh, but having characters that appeared on Nioh appear in SW. Obviously not with the same looks, using original looks made for SW.

Okay i just had to be sure. but i wouldnt mind if SW had its own versions of Nioh characters. Yasuke and William definitely would be nice additions to SW

William already added in musou stars, actually he can be treated as SW character.

Not really. in Musou Stars is a crossover game between different IPS. while William's moveset has been reduced to being that similiar to either a DW or SW character. he cant be treated as a SW character for multiple reasons. Nioh has more supernatural stuff to it such as Ki, spirits, and Yokai. while Samurai Warriors does not.

and By adding a Version of William in SW. His personality, design, weapon choice would be totally different from Nioh's version. remember William from Nioh was made by Team Ninja while the warriors games are made by Omega Force.

another key difference is Nioh has a more realistic design to its characters while still having fantasy elements. Samurai Warriors has a more anime style with its designs. so a SW William would look and act completely different from the Nioh/Musou Stars Version
