DISTURBIA Knockoff Tutorial By Ren Made In: PS CS4 Made for: PS Images: Drew 1 Drew 2 Drew 3 Fiyahh GRUNGE Flower Alrighty so our first Aim and Claim piece is requested by Super.Nova. I always liked this piece but never thought to recreate it so making it was fun. Now I couldn't figure out exactly how the original artist did it but hopefully this tut will give you a basic idea on how to get a look like this. ![]() Create a New Canvas 700 x 500 White background Create a New Layer and with your rectangular marquee tool draw a rectangle on the right side of the canvas and fill with grey #ededed. Just choose a size you like, I used [280 x 500] Get Drew 1 and drag it to your canvas 1. With the elliptical marquee tool draw a circle around her similar to the one seen below. 2. When the marching ants appear SHIFT CTRL I To make it an inverse selection 3. Then hit delete twice you should have something like step 3 in the pic below Lower Drew's opacity to 63% ![]() Time to clean up Get a soft eraser size 56 Opacity: 46% and Flow 52% Slowly go around drew and erase the grey as best as you can. Be careful- a small grey glow can work but you don't want to erase Drew. Drag Layer Drew so that her torso kisses the grey line. See if you're with me ![]() If you are let's get Drew 2 we're going to treat her in a similar way that we treated Drew 1 Drag and position her so that her chest/dress is kissing where the grey and white line meet also she should be slightly above Drew 1 Use the elliptical tool to draw a circle around her SHIFT CTRL I Inverse select Hit delete Get a brush size 83 Opacity 84% Flow 52% And gently erase as you did Drew 1 in this case though gently erase the front of her dress not too much but to give the effect that she's erupting from the grey space= if that makes sense. Check if you're with me ![]() If you are lets continue to Drew 3 Drag Drew 3 to your canvas, downsize her just a bit pull her to sit on the grey part of the canvas right under Drew 2. Then treat her like the others Soft eraser size 80 Same flow and opacity Erase until she also seems to be floating from out of the grey canvas- take your time. Lower the Layer's fill to 88% You should have something like this. ![]() ADDITIVES Now that we have the basic outline lets get the flames going and add a few textures. Seeing that this isn't my piece it's not going to look the same and I don't think I should do it exactly the same way ...now that I've got that off my chest let's continue. Get Fire 1 and drag it to your canvas OK based on how fiery you want her hair to be you can get other fire pictures. Desaturate the Fire 1 layer SHIFT CTRL U Position it over her hair and set the layer style to lighten. With the same size brush or smaller erase the fire from her face clean up. Check yourself ![]() You can simply ctrl J duplicate the fire layer and drag it to the other parts of the blend that you want to have that fiery look. Drag the grunge texture to your canvas Set Layer style to Darken Lower Opacity to 49 Now in the original the grey is a sharp cut so lets get our rectangular marquee tool and cut out the excess grunge in the texture that's on the grey side. With a soft eraser get rid of the excess on the white side. ![]() You should have something like this ![]() Now lets get the line flower and drop it in there- or any better looking texture really... Set it to darken and lower the opacity to 60% Position it in the midst of the grunge ADD TEXT I used font Courier- figured most computers should have that font. Size 36 Place it above all and try and get DIST on the white side of the canvas and URBIA on the left. URBIA should be white and DIST should be grey [Use the eyedropper tool to get the color grey #ededed from the right side of the canvas.] ![]() OPTIONAL [make a merged copy of the blend] CTRL A SHIFT CTRL C CTRL V Set to screen, get the rectangular marquee and draw a box over the entire white side of the canvas and hit delete. Now with a soft brush erase all around Drew 3. So she has a slight glow. Fin. ![]() Hope that helped. kinda frustrated that i did this from last night and woke up to maintenance smh, any problems yell at me. |
