Yep, You can see some of the asura footage here, presumably using the same build that'll show up in BWE#3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk9mocIgC4s...player_embedded There is also a fairly solid RP community for the Tarnished Coast and Petrified Forest servers. You might be able to find a guild here: http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/ Even if those two places are not your home server, You're still capable of using the Guest system to play there when the mood strikes. |

Not sure how much I'd be willing to roleplay on Guild Wars 2...but we'll see. Derror has been a big fan of the Guild Wars setting and has followed it for many years...to the point he'd talk about it while we were playing other MMO's. (And we've played a lot of them...kind of a hobby of ours.) We'll see. I did some role-play on WoW and left a horrible taste in my mouth...but that is to be expected...it was WoW. Heh. |

I've done the same - or attempted the same on multiple games myself. EQ1 and EQ2 were the only two that didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth, and to a lesser degree, Rift. I hear GW1 had a fairly solid community of RPers hosting events, though it met with some difficulty being an entirely instanced game, but I don't know, I didn't play that one. If the RP in GW2 actually decent, I'd consider it an added bonus. It has the potential to be decent with dynamic events thrown in to spice things up, and I'm hoping there will be less people to just sit around when dynamic stuff happens like there seemed to be in Rift. (Example in Rift: A bunch of people sitting around RPing in a neutral down in Rift, warnings cry out, the city is being attacked by a Rift Invasion. The players continue on their merry RP like nothing happened.) To --- their credit, that happened rarely, but when the indifference did happen, it irked me. |

I've been playing MMO's since the Big 3 (Asheron's Call, Ultima Online, and Everquest) I did some roleplaying back during my AC days..and I did some roleplaying in Everquest 2 very briefly. WoW I did the most in but...gotta say WoW is just...interesting. I can't say bad things about it because I played it for so long but...I really wanted to move on from it. Been Eyeballing Final Fantasy 14 since they're slowly repairing the mess it was when it came out...I beta tested Secret World and didn't care for it....so right now for my MMO fix I'm waiting for GW2. |

Well...me and the old Warhammer online clan I used to play with gathered up to form a guild (Sorry, Dutch guild we're Nazi like that) , not sure which server we are going to hit on Europe servers but most likely no RP server. Didn't think I'd be interested in this game but it got me rather enthusiastic

Yeah, I wasn't watching this one very hard, I had heard it was in the works, but it was in production long enough for me to just forget about it until the sign-up closed beta had long passed. Then it was "pre-purchase and receive beta access! But no release date yet!" and, after (Rift/DCUO/EQ2/All-Points-Bulletin/Vanguard Online just before SOE took it free-to-play (Like Neelis said, it's kind of our hobby, when we can catch them cheap)), I didn't buy until they finally figured out when they were going to launch, but I had been watching gameplay and listening to how they were trying to build it. I'm excited, to say the least. Game is PURDY (as evidenced by Silver's char screenies), and they did away with a LOT of the things I didn't like about GW1. Going to be interesting to see first-hand how it plays. (interesting = SUPER EXCITING HOLY CRAP etc) |

As long as PVP remains just as well balanced as it was in GW1. I do honestly believe GW1 had the funnest and most balanced PvP out there. It is not like WoW where you had idiots who wouldn't even do a damn thing with people unless they had such and such gear and build. EQ1 I liked as well simply for RP purposes. I used to play and actually still play MUDs to a degree so yeah. |

GW 2 is giving me the vibe that skills are more important than gear...hope it stays that way... |

Definatley, skill is absoleutley vital to playing GW2, because if you dont have the hand-eye-coordination then AOE attacks and slow moving melee will bugger-screw you. The game takes away most abilities for a good reason, it narrows down your utilities making you less overpowered against everything. You have to actually "think" about what you want your playstyle to be, not what tallent trees are the most optimised or what gear is most optimal. There is no mercy for <<pretty little baby seal :D>> up in Gw2, you can have the best gear in the game and still be torn a new one if your downright stupid. |

Gear is still very important, a lvl 80 with the best gear ingame will trash a lvl 2 bumped up to 80 in WvW without even trying, there's no wow 1 shotting though and more importantly "the best gear ingame" is very easy to get and even more importantly you do not have to regrind it up every couple of months to stay competitive. Once you hit 80 and aquire the best gear that's it your power progression ends you will not be "more powerful" beyond that point, you can still gain gear that is better suited for your specific build IE say the easy lvl 80 base armor you get has 40 vitality and 40 power but your build relies around precision you'd rather have 40 vit 20 power and 20 precision for example and that's the kind of gear "progression" you can expect. |
