Character planning tools?

Hello, I'm returning to nwn2. I remember your server from a brief stint a few months ago and was hoping to rejoin what I remember to be a lot of fun! I'm a bit spoiled for choice with character creation and I was wondering if there's a decent character planning tool for your mod? Or is there a wiki or somesuch with options in the mod are available at a glance?

I'm not so concerned about optimizing as I am about picking a direction and figuring out what feats/skills I need to get there :)

Thanks in advance!

edit: fixed bad writing

NWN2db.com holds through with most of Sigil's content. They don't have things like Mystic Theurge, but leave the setting to Storms of Zehir and you'll be fine.

EDIT: The site does have some unreliable hosting though... otherwise a lot of your information can from the nwn2wiki.

Our feats and skills are largely unmodified. Only feat currently modified is Fiendish Legacy and on that only fixed the duration issue and made the summon slightly more potent. As for skills, well any class can take cross class perform training (of course those with it as class skill can still train it as class skill)

So yeah, nwn2db down on my signature as "Character Builder" works fine and dandy for it.

Personally i would suggest downloading the Module "Vordan's Hero Creator" which is a standard Lvling and testing module for characters. If you want to have al Scod's classes then just add the hack'pack of Scod Through toolset. :)

Adress to download it here--> nwn.vordan.de/index.php/hero-creator

If you have any questions just ask :)

Edit: Ooh, also see to that you get the Version that does "Not" involve "Kaedrin's pack" :)
Characters:
*Narissa V'xtre (Tiefling Mage and Leader of "The S'jet Organisation)
*Bael'phegora(Sabel) (Seer of the Blooded Lotus)
*Kira (Fiendish Dark Elf / Astral traveler)
*Naomi Auroras(Human Holy Warrior)

Perhaps you were expecting some surprise, for me to reveal a secret that had eluded you, something that would change your perspective of events, shatter you to your core. There is no great revelation, no great secret. There is only you.

Protip: if you add our haks to a builder module, do not add the "nocheat" hak, as that will prevent you from doing export of your character... it holds nothing important other than preventing exploits, so you can safely run builder module without it

awesome, thanks for the help!

I'll have a look at the builder mod when I'm not at work.

A question about mystic theurge and warlocks.. Does MT level lock invocations (a la eldritch disciple/eldritch theurge) and if so, do they count as divine or arcane casters?

Does the nwn2 MT care about spell source in its requirements at all, for that matter? I remember it was actually not a bad class in nwn2, which was kind of interesting considering how awful it is in pencil and paper.

Regarding adding haks to module:
  • Toolset -> open the module you wish them in (Vordans or whatever) -> View -> Module Properties, then if the properties window isn't already open you can expand it from the right side of screen.

From properties window look for slot "Hak Packs" on the right of that there is small button with three dots in it. Click that, find and add all the haks you want (you'll want everything except scod2_nocheat.hak.

The haks are automatically stored in your "my documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/hak" folder.
Regarding Mystic Theurge:
  • Yes it works for any class combinations, so mystic theurge name is somewhat misleading as it could simply be called "Generic Dual Caster PrC" but it simulates whichever you prefer. And yes it also properly applies eldritch blast progression.

You may however be required to pick some of the casting classes after MT levels to "catch up" with spell selection, mostly the types that don't have to prepare spells. (Sorcerer/Spirit Shaman/Favored Soul)

@Kadim: Yes, warlock blast increases with our version of MT. I think Warlock suffers same issue as other casters whereby you still need to switch back to the other class sooner or later to pick your spells (this does not affect classes like Wizard whereby you can learn your spells via scrolls, or Clerics/Druids who get access to their full spell lists).

And Warlocks are not Arcane or Divine, they are separate, and it doesn't matter with our implementation of MT. You can have two arcane classes, two divine classes, two invocation based classes (if there was more than one) or any mix of them.

@Er_nano: We did make a post about that somewhen not too long ago. And found it:

cool. I knew warlocks are a weird breed on paper (I think they're considered arcane for the purposes of spell mechanics? I'd have to look it up) but in the context of nwn and the mod I wasn't sure.

hehe two invocation classes... dragonfire adept/warlock!

Best [re]planning tool I've come across so far is the River Styx fountain.
Thrym HammerClang - -Reluctant Dwarven Merchant
Jarlz Bergh -- Ogre WeaponMaster
Yew're Kiddunmeigh -- Elven Light Bow of Solonor
Sstrepekorr -- Yuan-Ti Halfbreed StormLord
Plitzsskin -- Yuan-Ti Halfbreed Ranger

Well the builder recommended looks great but the toolset crashes before I even see the launcher. I've reason to believe this is a common problem with nwn2 on win7, but if the mod is pretty much the standard nwn2 with the restrictions stripped away I think I can probably just do it on paper with the browser builder as a reference tool.

Thanks so much for all your help, I'm full on in performances this week but on the weekend I'm free and I'll get a character up in here :D

I think you need to install DirectX 9.0c and make sure you have the uptodate microsoft .NET framework thingymabob.

I think those should do the trick.

Or it could turn you into a unicorn.

Good stuff, either way!

And personally I like JEGs builder better than Vordan (for one thing it has sane opponents to test against, not super cheap pvp builds)

Yeah I did that thing getting the client to run. I might have a play around with it later but paper works and doesn't involve wrangling with my computer.
