Okay, so the Rhethys build definitely qualifies here as broke-ass. Had to make sure I had as potent a conjurer as could possibly be made with a sorceress base rather than a wizard, and came up with something along the lines of:

Sorcerer 10/Arcane Trickster 10/Rogue 5/Blackguard 5

This managed to get me as close to the powers and abilities of the PnP build I had envisioned for the character (can't find the paper right now, but it's something along the lines of this):

Sorcerer 7/Nar Demonbinder 6/Truename Fiendbinder 7/XXXXX 10

(that XXXXX is a class from the Book of Vile Darkness that I'm not going to reveal here at risk of damaging the character OOC, aside from mentioning that it gives full spell progression)
We rode on the winds of the rising storm,
We ran to the sounds of the thunder.
We danced among the lightning bolts,
and tore the world asunder.

Unfortunately, at the time of creating Dom, I could not, for the life of me , translate him from his PnP counterpart of:

5 Spellthief, 10 Ur-Priest, 8 Chameleon.

He wasn't 'evil', because Ur-Priest so thematically fit with spellthief, he allowed me to substitute the "Spell Focus:Evil" requirement with "Spell Focus:Chaotic", I think he regreted the decision around 15th, when the character could cast level 9 Cleric spells 2 levels earlier than an actual cleric.

He also became Divine Rank 0. Which was -- risky -- to have in a Planescape setting. The DM started keeping a keeping a seperate EXP tab for the character, in "Worshipers". If he went past a certain point, He'd "level" to rank 1, and thus gain Domains. Qualifying as an actual deity, and if that occurred in Sigil itself. Well, The Lady might take issue. No matter the outcome if that occurred the character would have had to leave the campaign. - He didn't want people using Saliant abilities in the campaign. Understandably.

That is reminded me of a campaign around 10 years ago. I don't remember the specifics on character builds or anything. Custom campaign with a Black pantheon, Grey Pantheon and a White Pantheon. Well... the party decided to pull "a god am I" and slayed all three pantheons... which would have resulted in the complete end of the existence of everything... but... we wound up before it all having a religion started up due to the resident mage and cleric brainwashing the largest city in the realm... so we all ended up becoming gods.... which wound up with everyone killing eachother anyways...

Don't ask. We oftentimes has very convoluted sessions back in the day where we tried for a completely open universe feel to things.
Characters
-Moriarcis: Lvl 20 Necromancer
-Ordethus: Lvl 20 (21) Telepath Warlock/Alienist
-Orionis: Lvl 8 Dirge of Tiamat
-Zaed Nahalis: Lvl 28 Hextorite Blademaster
-Skor Addamar: Lvl 22 Ex-Collector
-Ven: Lvl 9 (10) Old School Assassin
-Vai'aian: Lvl 18 (20) Zerth Monk

In the campaign we never actually killed deities or anything, to the dismay of a couple powerbuilt players in the group. PnP Dom wasn't. Despite what it 'seems'. He was a Jack of All Trades. Powerful -at- 15 though, because the way Ur-Priest works, but most of the spells and skills used were to supplement RP rather than combat. We had combat maybe once every three sessions.

Divine Rank 0, caused a slight stir within the group as no one else had something like it, but the benefits of it at the level he attained that were so small, it was pointless to fuss about. The biggest advantage being the SR which helped him, once, and all the other effects were already handled via items/daily buffs.

and the disadvantages I described with 'ascending' to rank 1 in Sigil would have perma'd him, but he wasn't after worshipers thankfully, and I don't really think any particular Pantheon would welcome him with open arms. Ur-Priests <I> steal </i> the spells granted to clerics from deities before it reaches them. Not the best way to get represented.

Even his personality made it difficult to befriend the group at low levels, but he proved his worth when the Bard of the group got dropped in combat, started to bleed out, and he used his Spellthief ability to steal a heal from her unconscious body, and use it. I love the class. Borrowing abilities from others in the group. Feel like blasting? Hug the Warlock.

Reminds me of the chinese god Sung Chiang, a god of thievery, featured in one of the planescape books (I think it was the bloodwar trilogy)

Yeah, it is a fun class, but can piss off the DM at times. Well, ever since that open sandbox of a campaign, we basically handle deity crap different. Much more in the way of involving rituals to trap them and such, depower them and temporarily send them away. Granted rarely we get that far, since now much of the material is completely relegated to storyline use. In the current campaign, be basically have a scrolls of mnemur scenario going on.

tee hee the ur-priest always comes up in dual caster builds 'cause it's progression is so insane.

I've never tempted the DM by building one though. My brothers and I have a mean streak when it comes to flagrant optimization. Sure we'll let you do it but there's nothing a player can bring to the table that the DM can't bring three back at them, so our optimization arms race ended with the DM laying down a dragonwrought kobold with epic feats (selected from clvl 3) that proceeded to kill us all.

Back on my old nwn1 server we had DMs that would swarm us over with killer badgers.

Oh hey I noticed a comment and I was curious why - divine might is useless? How?

I actually like Ur-priest for it's rp premise alot more than it's power itself... I'd love to try a Factotum/Ur-priest some time (not the planescape rank, but a base class from 3.5)

oh yeah it's got bags of flavour. Compared to a real divine caster they're definitely behind apart from the fast progression 'cause their casts/day are terrible

The thing I like to do with the factotum is the iaijutsu master. Mix it with a 3 level dip into swashbuckler and go house. Grab a level of marshal for even more insanity (Cha and 2x Int to initiative? yes please!) and dual wield gnomish quickblades so you can draw your weapons on every attack.

Find a way to reduce yourself tiny and grab Confound the Big People (races of the wild feat) and everyone size M or larger are considered flat footed so you can get a full attack action of iaijutsu focus.

It's a party in every bite!

out of interest, has anyone managed to get the wizard/swashbuckler combo to work for them here? I was toying with swash 3/wiz 7/eldritch knight 10/duelist 10 and using the wizard stuff for buffs. I could shift a level from duelist to wizard for 9th level spells, but I'd lose 1 ac from my int and 1d6 precision damage per strike.

hehe, I know that PrC. Of course, I am the master of all things BoVD and Fiendish Codex. :P ::troll::

And on that note I give you the Pen and Paper version of Rith Fiddir:

Rogue 5/Cabinet Trickster 5/Warshaper 5/Dread Commando 5.

Yes, Rith is based off of a PnP character I had built. A Changeling from Eberron who went into the Cabinet Trickster prestige class (to gain the full Doppelganger Change shape ability), and then went into Warshaper, a PrC from the Complete Warrior.

He could change his form, was immune to stunning and critical hits, got +4 strength and Constitution as long as he was shapeshifted, gained Fast Healing 2, and had nasty little abilities like being able to shapeshift into a Merfolk to breathe underwater or into an Avariel to gain the ability to fly.

Add to that the ability to read minds, the ability to use his own mind-reading to stun and debilitate foes (which allowed him to sneak attack), as well as full ranks in hide/ms and the ability to camouflage himself via Dread Commando (which was like Hide in Plain Sight).

With Warshaper he could also form natural weapons, enablign him to grow a natural bite and claw attack. Add the Multi-attack and Greater Multi-attack feat and suddenly Rith was able to pull off about 8-10 different natural weapon attacks, complete with fun things like Rend and a pair of boots that gave him the Pounce ability (Can full attack after a charge.)

One of my fave PCs. :P
