I'm using a wildshaper at the moment (Kobold, 5 druid, 1 rogue, 1 monk currently), and so far I've been running into problems levelling. I'm aware of the multiclassing XP penalty, but even still, I don't think I should be getting only 16 XP for a wererat when, say, my fighter is getting 60-120 XP for lower level monsters. I've been trying to use the beastlands for something that is within my level range, but all the fey creatures and treants have damage reduction that I'm unable to bypass in wildshape. Is there something I'm missing in terms of wildshape and DR bypass? Is there another spot that'd be better for grinding? Did my wee kobold somehow severely break his XP counter? Any help or insight would be appreciated. (Edit: I've only been on the server for approximately three or four days, so I have no real idea of what there is around on this module.) |

As someone who has often played a wildshaper, i can say that DR on this server is a real killer for them. You really need to party. You should have good AC, so at least you can play tank and suport.. but you will rarely be the damage dealer. Your only satisfaction can come from being the last one standing when all else are dead. Just as an aside.. did you take Druid at level 1 to get the background feats? If so, which did you take? Do you like the new options? As for XP, the level (and therefore XP for kills) of the monsters depends in most areas on your levels. What this means is you can be killing things for really crappy XP, gain a lvel, and suddenly the XP is awesome... or vice versa. At level 7 (you didn't mention ECL which could be a factor), wererats should give damn good XP, so presume you are getting the lowest level spawns. Gain other level or two, or team up with someone a bit higher level than you, and you should trigger the next level of spawns, and the XP should be good. Otherwise, try a different area. Many say ice plane is good for XP, although that may be nasty for you. |

Kind of a shame. I wanted to play a pseudo-feral druid, hence the rogue level (Was going to end up with 13 and one ShD for HiPS) I did take druid at level 1 for the Druid of the Jungle background. I figured it was more fitting for a kobold having a couple of reptile forms. Kinda wish beetle was something else, but not a real complaint. And 3.5 / Pathfinder doesn't have Level Adjustment on kobolds. Would really hope there isn't one here on Sigil, that'd be rather obnoxious, since their only real bonus is trapmaking and a +1 natural AC (which gets overridden by lots of buffs and items later anyway). So if there's no level adjustment, my ECL should be 7. Is that within the range for ice plane? Never been there (or know how to get there, for that matter). (Edit: Also, I forgot you mentioned bringing someone higher level than you. Does it not count if they're too high? Because I had an ECL ~15 or so Svirf with me at one point, and at a seperate time a gray orc monk/cleric (or something. Unsure on ECL, but it was lower than the Svirf's I'm pretty sure), but it was all still the silly low 16's. |

Like, everything and its mum has DR around here. I just wouldn't go for a meleeing shifter at all. If I were to make a shifting character, I'd still focus on spells using natural spell. |

Well, sneak damage is one way to get wildhapes to do some damage. Never done it myself, but get Druid 12 for the greater wildshapes, 1 SD for the HIPS, and the rest Rogue, you should be able to at least be ok. Actually... make Druid 13 for level 7 spells, its probably worth it. You can at least then persist Vigour. As for the grinding, wasn't suggesting someone too much higher level that you, just a few levels, it may trigger the level level of spawns making it worth it. As for getting to Ice Plane... ask around IC. |

The kobold favored class is sorcerer, so with druid 5/rogue 1/monk 1 you have 40% xp penalty. |

Yet another reason someone should figure out why and how Kaedrin's Silverclaw and by extension Ironclaw, would work as spells. |

In the interim, I wonder if a self-target "bless-weapon" could be made to let wildshaper's get past DR without UMD... |

Thats fine for some devils and demons, but i'm not sure about Wererats. I definitely want to revist the silver/iron claw at some point. You know me, i love my wildshape druids. Just got bigger fish to fry at the moment.... but if i get too annoyed with areas maybe ill take a break and take another stab at it. |
