Heya folks. Just got back from just under 6 weeks in Europe, mostly in Germany doing an excavation. I'm (finally back) and able to be around and, you know, do stuff.

Sooo... did I miss anything?

Welcome back!

The Lady of Pain lost the Sigil Elections to a bran muffin. The Bran muffin ruled Sigil but was assassinated. It's running mate pancake was convicted of murder, so they put the Lady of Pain back in charge.

:P Oh and some other stuff here and there too. Demons blowing stuff up, Angels being angely, and other random stuff. Just another day across the planes!

Assuming lithic artifacts and faunal remains from the Magdelenian to Middle Paleolithic count as interesting, then yes :D It was rather successful overall. I managed to excavate about half a dozen worked scrapers and burins from the Middle Paleolithic element - that'd mean most likely Neandertals for the less archaeologically inclined.

And a ridiculous amount of cave bear. Dear lord, the bears...

That sounds about as boring as something that's really fun. :D Congrats!

I wanted to be an archelogist when I was a child - an egyptologist, precisely. I envy you.

And then when you used your whip to swing over the cravasse and escape the nazis, you were just barely able to hold onto your fedora!
We rode on the winds of the rising storm,
We ran to the sounds of the thunder.
We danced among the lightning bolts,
and tore the world asunder.

Ooooh! Neat!

I don't know how anyone is able to sort out the hand tools from the broken rocks...

The breakage pattern. Most lithic artifacts are made of rocks that spiral-fracture like glass does, so for starters you know you're looking for chert, siltstone, or obsidian. After someone strikes it, you usually end up with a platform that was the spot that was struck (Either by another rock or something softer like an antler), followed by a bulb and scarring along the broken surface from the force of impact. Sometimes on the other surface you'll see 'negatives' with scars from other flakes taken off of it, or you'll see obvious retouch or wear along an edge.

It's actually surprisingly easy, once you know what you're looking for.

And Cere - no German national socialists or Soviets were harmed in the filming of this excavation.
