Thought i would keep players appraised of progress on the winning entries. So ill use this thread like a kind of developers blog.

The first one i'm tackling is the in game SIGIS thingy. (Although if i get frustrated with an aspect of it, i may switch over to something else for a break).

This is my first foray into the scary world of XML and GUI manipulation, and i was absolutely gobsmacked that this little test worked as intended first time. It bodes well for future GUI work (the in-game game is going to be a real complicated piece of GUI work).

Anyway, here are the results.

The first part is a parchment... official SIGIS paper, only the best for SIGIS journalists! You activate this item.

It then opens a new GUI, where you can write your story. You can also use standard formatting marks.

When finished you click accept, and here is the script showing that the text has been successfully passed from the GUI back to the script.

The parchment can be activated again, and the stored text will be transferred back onto the reopened screen, meaning you can keep opening and closing, adding more text, until you are finished.

The screen of course needs more work, giving it a paper like background and of course the close button needs to be changed.

Further work will come where i will make an NPC (the editor) who you will go to to submit news articles so everyone can read your writings by purchasing a copy of SIGIS. You will also be able to purchase parchments and copies of SIGIS from him.

The newspaper GUI itself still needs creating, but now i've done one screen i think i've got an understanding of how things work.

SIGIS news stories will be stored on a rotation or date basis (so either they will expire, or old stories will get pushed out as new stories come in.) Not quite decided on this. - advantages and disadvantages to both.

Anyway, hope this whets your appetite for some of the new things coming.

For those who haven't seen SIGIS as made by mimir.net way back, here is an example:

What i'd like to try and do is see if it is possible to include a custom font in game without requiring people to modify their custom UI folders (not acceptable).

Will see whether it is doable... would be nice for headlines.

How did Roguedao do it? since they had own fonts in Purgatorio (although that thing did mod quite a bit more than a normal module did, might be hacking that doesn't translate to PW use)

Ill check it out but i suspect the fonts go into UI\custom which is where the game expects to find them.
