Thanks for the info Mr_O, but yeah a bit late. And besides, the rules on each card will be a pain to implement and make some logic for.

Triple Triad, while is going to be tricky to handle the rules, i think I can do.

Yeah, I figured. At best you could make it be dealing random card and let players remove or draw cards on their own than even try to work out rules into mechanics... that way they'd be in charge rather than automated mechanics. Kinda like normal table top card game, except you'd also need to have the rules visible.

as far as I know, if you want to go the super easy route in card games, there are KEMO card tables, which deal regular cards - and can be used to play any card game under the sun, really. Play "Texas Hold 'em" but call it "Cager's Hold 'Em" instead or whatnot.

I've seen them on other servers, but if you want to create your own thing, that's cool too!

Thanks for the tip Kari. I had a look, but can't find anything via google of the vault.

Perhaps i can contact one of the PWs that have it then. I presume Haven has?

I am going to go with my own system though, mainly because of it allows some different options that are not available with regular card games - basically the ability to add new cards and not require a fixed deck size, thus allowing player to collect cards (gotta catch 'em all!).

However, assuming kemo's system is graphical, looking at their XML may save me a lot of time figuring out how to do certain things.

Ah, we found it today. Didn't say it was kemo's though, unless its a different system.

Anyway, it looks ok, but doesn't support rules. Looking how its implemented i don't think the XML is much help for me either as it is using buttons to make the actions, while i'm hoping to actually enable players to click on the cards themselves... hoping anyway, the thoery i think is sound.

Got to keep you lot anticipating, so here is a little update on the card game.

In addition to players and observers (up to 10 observers) watching the game progress through GUIs, even those not near the table will be able to watch the progress of the game as cards magically (tm) :P move and appear on the table as they are played.

The yellowish cards represent backs of cards in players hands. The red and blue are cards in play (they will only be there in the grid when used), and their colour relates to Player 1 and Player 2, although unless you are "observing" you won't know who is Red or Blue.

Haha, you got me. Yeah, there are some card placeables, but they are either multiple scattered ones or a full deck, and none of them are tintable so can't make them the colours i need.

Sometimes with the toolset you've just go to roll with what you've got.

Been a while since i did an update about the card game, so here is a little one.

I have the framework designed for cards and the deck and can now display a single card through the UI (yeah, not exactly mind blowing, but hey).

The appearance is rather beta, just using some filler graphics for the moment. Central icon designed by Kiuna (and yes, i know its not Mt Celestia but a faction symbol).

The main thing that this means is my idea of being able to overlay images with transparancies works (as long as you order things right in the XML), so it makes things a lot simpler than they would be otherwise.

Managed to take a step further today. Had to dig into the weird and wonderful world of the UIListBox feature to get this working, and lo!!!

This is a display of the deck that you can use to review what cards you have available in your deck. Just knocked together a few. The monster images are stretched because i didn't scale them properly. Besides, i stole them from around the web so they are unlikely to be final versions anyway.
