Need Some Help With A Good Bard Build; Building

Thought to start on a bard. What's the mandatory spells and feats? Planning on a pure bard, though multiclassing with a cleric to get the divine might and/or divine shield seem as a good idea. Curse song, extend spell and lingering song seems given. Should I go for AC primary on the other feats? As for spells the defensive appeals the most, but wouldn't that make the build useless due to lacking damage?

Bards are pretty versatile in how you want to play them. If you're interested in going the evil route, 27 bard, 3 blackguard is a popular one if you're looking for maximum cheese. The blackguard lets you use your high cha (which you will have as a bard) to get a ridiculous saving throw bonus to everything, and gives you access to heavier armors and shields as well if you ever get lucky enough to find some that reduce arcane spell failure chance. In addition to this, blackguard lets you get access to divine and epic divine might.

Of course you could mix it up further and go 26 bard, 3 BG, and 1 cleric to grab a few of the gimmie domains like earth or luck.

As for mandatory feats, you'll want:

Lingering song
Curse song
extend spell
chorus of heroism (one of my favorites)
song of requiem
hymn of requiem

The rest depends on your build, things like battle caster are good if you splash blackguard or cleric in there so you can take advantage of that heavier armor, a skill focus perform isn't bad either to up the damage of your song of requiem later either.

I'm not sure Battle Caster is worth it. You can get ahold of a couple chain shirts that provide better overall AC, provided you have the dex. Medium armor is pretty terrible overall.

What I've done for Lucia is to make her an EDM bard. That does require you to throw in RDD levels, which will reduce your bard power, but having EDM boosted by very high charisma, plus boosted by a weapon that has good critical values (divine might damage is multiplied in crits) will make short work of a lot of things on this server.

I very rarely play evil characters (in fact, my newest character is probably the first evil character of any game that I've played in the last 5 years), and I kind of wish you can be a blackguard and not have to be evil.

Meh, stop listening to the munchkins! :P

If you're going to be a bard, be a bard! Bards are support characters, not evil killing machines. Play a character that supports others. Possibly a level of Rogue at level 1 to get some extra skills and Able Learner to get plenty of cross-skill goodness. Maybe a level or three of Warlock so you can throw around blasts while supporting everyone. Otherwise pure bard.

Get the Requiem feats as soon as possible that way, which are pretty awesome.

And summons! Take summon spells. The revised bard summons are pretty solid and can nicely support you.

^ This.

Best bard build is Bard Lvl 30 with summons, highest cha possible and maybe spell foci in enchantment!, so much rp potential!.

I play:
Miranda Ildesserin-"You have no idea what fear is, the greatest fear a mother can have is that of her child growing up...alone"
Eisinar Mindblade: Illithid Soul Knife: "As long as I have my mind, i am never with out a weapon".
Xil'ar'ran'oss-Beholder Psion:What do you mean "IF" looks could kill?

i'll believe in summons once i see them :P

Maewind:''That's still plant-hating! That makes you a plant racist!''

Lucelle Vand'hovar: ''Miss Maewind, i assure you, the plants started this conflict.''

Nienna: ''Razorvine is hardly a plant, in her defense.''

Then make a bard and see them in action ;) The level 6 summon in particular is nifty, but they are all good.

Don't forget Augment Summon feat as soon as possible. It really helps out.

may as well, though usually i tend to keep only the summons of higher lvls, as with shaman (6-9th lvl, the sneaker, the berserker, the archer and the mage. the 1st lvl fighter too cause imo there's not much any other spell worth taking in that circle and can serve as cheap agent for rp)

speaking of which...those spirit undeads are bit not so spiritual and undeadish in their positive traits for those race types *coughs coughs*

You mean the spirit shaman summon don't have the right spirit type setting?

Not looked myself, but if not an oversight, it could be deliberate. I think the Spirit Shaman abilities are indiscriminate in which spirits they affect (friend or foe alike), so if they were set to spirits you would hurt your own.

As for the lower level bard summons, they are still good to keep at higher levels as can be used for RP flavour, the Band member and the fan especially. And its always funny when the fan appears.

If you haven't seen it yet. Have two bards summon their fans at the same time. ;)

Bard 21/Assassin 9. Feel free to break the game.
"From the realms below we ride,
And in terror they run and hide,
From the shadows of old we rise,
Awakened, from the dark!

Over the ancient ruins we fly,
Where the old kings go to die,
And the new kingdoms rising high,
Awakened, from the dark, dark slumber!"

Anything equivalent for a good character?

they are undead type , for clarity (because what is not elemental or fey but is a spirit is often an undead). they have the weaknesses of undead but lack ALL the benefit from beind undeads. and lack also those of spirit, such as concealment or dr

Hmm... depends on what you want to achieve besides passively supporting people and flinging spells? Could try Arcane Archer. Bard 21/AA9 with lots of CHA and like 17+ DEX.

Hmm much to consider here. Guess EDM will rule out Requiem and vice versa. Is Requiem really that useful with the 2min cd? And is the buff really that effective to a party? if I got the maths right that would at brd30 end up at 7ac, 5dmg or 5 hp regen every 12sec. Also lacking some vital buffs like Death Ward. Does a bard really cut it as a buffer?
