It probably isn't said enough, but I'd like to say a big thank you too all our players, EMs, DMs, admins, and regular joes.

I'd like to make special shout outs to:

cryptc: For hosting the server for all these years, having to deal with updates submitted by builders, and while generally being a cynlical s-o-a-b is underneath it all, a pretty decent guy (or girl... we never figured it out).

Mr_O: Despite apparently stepping back a bit recently due to RL. has been a rock of stability when it comes to rationality around here especially DM/Builder side when people get crazy ideas (*guilty look*), and of course for being a lore guru. I say he has stepped back... but i have my suspicions that he is still around. After a while, you kind of get a feel for the names he chooses for his alts... i won't say more. ;)

EMs: Ah, the EMs. There was quite a bit of unease and uncertainty surrounding this idea. But cryptc on more than one occasion has said publicly he was glad his worries were unfounded. You guys are great. Its not been perfect sailing. We've had one or two hiccups along the way, but generally you guys have really done wonders for the server. You have allowed us old lazy bastards to sit back, while you yung 'uns do the hard work of entertaining the playerbase.

A few of you have now got access to the permanent "DM" password, I hope more of you will follow in the future, and that if one day, all us DMs and admins were to resign, I would believe that the server was in good hands.

And of course, last, but not least, the regular players. Sure, you don't contribute your time to make areas, or scripts, or (DM client) events, or deal with the day to day shit of running the server, but without players, the server would be dead. And of course, this shout out to the players actually covers just about everyone reading this, DMs/EMs/etc included.

So, bottom line, group hug, and everyone gets a kiss from Auntie :D

PS: before anyone asks, yes, i have been drinking, but it doesn't make this post any less sincere. ;)

What happened? Are you retiring? Is the server going down for good? Oh no!

Jeez! What's with all the cynicism?

I'm just been catching up on birthday presents and downed a bit of cognac and whiskey and wanted to say thank you to everyone.

Now if you will all excuse me, there is whiskey in the jar. ;)

Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar

And no, server is not going down.... there is a greater chance of my wife going down than that!

Hahaha... I love modern world. You can't be genuinely grateful without everyone thinking the worst. I think this is one of the reasons why people don't show their appreciation ;)

I'll make my own appreciative post later on, just occupied at the moment.

So unlike Agony Aunt, I have not been drinking :P because I can do the stuff without liquid encouragement.

So since I'm a regular nay-sayer, part of the regular can't category and the fellow you often hear the unrealistic criticism from... it's probably natural that I fail to show my appreciation in a healthy amount, some of it is calculated to be so even, because it makes my job that much easier if I'm not a friend of anyone.

However, of course I appreciate the work put by the builders, the EMs/DMs and obviously the players also. The same rule applies that I use to judge levels of acceptance: If I didn't like it here, I'd have moved on a long time ago. Sometimes are more bumpy than the other, where you can often see the rising themes of attempts to change certain aspects. Sometimes they're changed, sometimes you change your own opinion.

Special thanks really goes to Agony_Aunt, not because of this thread. You're drunk dude! :P But because I think your sole dedication has kept the server more active in the past year. Sure there are great many other names I could mention whom have also contributed, but I think it's more than fair to acknowledge your effort. So I salute you, Agony Aunt. Seriously, thanks for your hard work and patience.

Honorary mentions:
- Selebius & Midnight: You two have made quite a bit difference in the forum RPside.
- DarkRob: We don't see eye to eye most of the time, but I think it's fair to at least admit that you've been active member and inciter of conflict within the ICside. Which is a good thing, I think we can all agree.
- Ravel: Definitely one of the longest standing member whom is still active, though irregular due to work, still very willing to participate into greater role and involve plenty people into the erratic and miscellaneous plots.

And the other folks! Some of you are great, others are okay, and the others I don't like. Sorry :P but thanks for populating the server so that there comes more people I like anyway! And that ladies and gentlemen, is probably the worst way to thank your players ever. It's life, not everyone are meant to like each other ;) besides, like Charlie Brooker defines love... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQqCmvLLcGQ

Well, like a few others my first thought was "Crap, A DM is resigning or the Server's kaput."

My second thought was "Balls, I'll never find out how Deliria's Dragon-War storyline ends."

Good to hear neither case is true.

Before yesterday I thought I was super cynical, I'm going to have to readjust that thought since I actually thought "Oh nice, a show of gratitude. That's not frequent."

Well, like a few others my first thought was "Crap, A DM is resigning or the Server's kaput."

That reminds me of O's April fool's joke this year. Nearly made me hyperventilate until I remembered what day it was...and then all I could think about it was, "Okay, he got me."

Seriously though, a thank you to all who run this madhouse is far too infrequently said for how frequently it is earned. Thanks bunches to all and sundry ^_^
Player of:
Auric Tenebrason - Yuan-Ti finding himself
Cael O'Malley - A warrior who's heard many myths...and now finds himself in one.
Donovan SeYara - A man in pink.
Kadosh Purifico - Grinning Sinker.
Szuryu - Seeker of Marobashi.
Verdant Waves - A Godsman man of faith.
And a few more that won't fit...yeah I'm an altoholic.

I so agree with this and have to add my bit... thank you all very much, players, devs, DMs.
This place is a great virtual playground, and to me represents much of what NWN and NWN2 could be but never reached elsewhere, a real online DnD game environment.

Years ago when my own pnp DnD game group was splintering, due to players in the military, players moving away to be with spouses in other states and my own globe hopping, my friends got me turned on to NWN1. They believed it would let me keep my game world alive or at least, keep my storytelling alive, in someone else's setting. That appealed to me, because while my own world for pnp was elaborate, I never could see solo scripting and building it and hosting it, even in NWN1. Still, being able to step into a real DnD game, with the potential for real interaction with real people in party and ongoing stories... that was wonderful and something we could see was not really the case with the World of Warcrafts and Asheron's Calls of the virtual landscape. A good number of my old game group still plays NWN2 from time to time, or has gotten back into playing PnP directly when we can, but Sigil/SCoD actually impacts how I enjoy that hobby as well now, having given me good ideas for plots, inter dimensional and otherwise, as well as a better understanding of the rather horrid 3.5 rule set we still play with.

Here in Sigil/SCoD we have something created admittedly from an already extant setting, but made uniquely ours by the players, DMs and devs who continue to contribute to it. Changes may happen because the dev team sees needs for them, but we are not at the mercy of a gaggle of investors and developers who are looking to spur micro transactions and shut down stories or adventures in the main game, to spur our buying the new expansion. Not only do we have SCOD to enjoy, we still have a goodly number of other NWN2 servers out there as well, saving us from the monotony of MMORPG hell. Thank you Sigil, thank you all who play here. Love ya all.
