My brother tried to login using my wife's computer, and the server is booting him. I assume this is part of the server's scripts that prevent account stealing. Is it possible to unrestrict this on his account? If a DM is able to help with this, please PM me and I will send account names. |

Do the two computers have the same Product Keys on their installation of NWN2? If this is the case, unfortunately the inability for two machines with the same product key to log onto the same server simultaneously has remained even with the demise of gamespy, and as far as I know no workaround has been found for this. |

His computer, her computer and my computer all have unique keys. He is on his way home to see if he can login back on his own computer. It would be nice though if he could access his account from my wifes computer, so he didnt have to pack up his computer every time he wanted to come over to play at my house. |

Our protections use both IP address and CD-key to protect. If you go switching between machines with different CD-keys and IP addresses at the same time, it could block you. ie: Travelling to someone else's house would definitely change your IP-address. What he should do is just take a copy of his nwncdkey.ini Then when he comes to your wife's computer, rename her's out of the way, copy his over, and play. When finished, remove his copy and restore your wife's version. Always keep backups! Don't want to lose those CD-keys! |

One other thing to consider: did you follow the instructions HERE? There is a known issue about having multiple machines using the same router. |

If their characters are trying to use a different IP address and CDkey than they were before, it will be considered mechanically as someone "trying to abduct your account", as such boot you. That's mostly because there's no more account password protection in NWN2 so instead servers have to protect the characters. It's a fairly easy fix as long as the names of the other two accounts are known since it is a manual database work still. (so yes, more or less what Agony said) |

Changing CD-Key, sounds good. I will setup shortcuts that manage this for them. (keep named copies of the cd key files, create batch script that copies named version onto main version for certain player, then kicks off NWN2, for one click simplicity) Yeah, the first time he played with us he did it from his own home on his own computer. Then a later date he brought his computer to our house and played with us. That worked, but makes sense... if it checks for Either original IP and original CD-Key. That also explains why I can log into my wife's computer on my own account, because although I am using a different CD-Key, I am using the same IP address. Thanks for clearing this up guys. By the way, I did not have to configure anything weird with the router. Just left it with out of the box config, works for us both connecting to the same game in League of Legends and NWN2, so I am thinking maybe router technology (or more specifically, default configurations) have improved. I remember trying to connect two systems to the same server in CS 1.0 back in the day...:oldlecture: it was a freakin nightmare! So glad we live in the age of technology. |

Please follow the advice and do as the instructions say here: http://z13.invisionfree.com/nwn2planescape...dpost&p=2515033 It really is important you do this. If you don't strange things can happen.. very strange things. You can just do it once and leave it like that, it doesn't need changing all the time. So leave yours on default and change your wife's to 5121 or something. |

Yeah the router thing is less of a log in problem and more of a "OMG WTF is that? Why does it do that? Why is there a red dwarf? Gah! Why doesn't that PC say anything? WTF?! Why is there three of me in the player chat list? OMG Why am I looking from the vantage point of some other player character, why can't I move???" so all kinds of fun stuff! It's not so important otherwise, but it does a lot of that to the other players too. |

Thanks for the info, didn't realize that could be an issue. I assumed everything was resolved by the built in NAT that most routers do. I will set both of our systems to use different ports, and leave the default NWN2 port open for any guest, so they don't have to change anything. |
