Creature weapons are not on the weapon finesse list, or are bugged according to nwn2wiki, this has been tested to be true on SCOD. In nwn 1 it was possible to weapon finesse creature weapons, though few servers had creatures, and the way it reads on SRD20 makes it highly likely that creature weapons should be finesse-able, considering that many creatures are naturally dextrous. Getting creature weapons on the finesse list would go a long way towards helping some of the ECL races have better chances in the harder levels. |

Semi unrelated but nice to know, power attack works fine with creature weapons and I believe they count as two handed for that purpose. But agree they should be allowed to be finessable. |

In NWN2 creature weapons are size category 3. This automatically makes them non-finessable. The code is hardcoded for it. My guess is it goes something like this:
Knowing Obsidian though, it could be a hardcoded list. Anyway, it might be possible to change creature weapons to be of size 2 or 1... but then Power Attack will not work with them. What might be doable, would be creating new creature weapon types that are light in size. So, for smaller creatures you can give them light creature weapons, and bigger stronger creatures get bigger creature weapons. All depends on whether the hardcoded bits will support such things. Not something i'm willing to look into at the moment, but if someone wants to experiment and let me know what works and what doesn't would be interested to know. |

I understand, and at least you are already working on making creature weapons viable, so I'm grateful for that (I'm a big monster-race player) and it's not like I can do anything about myself as I have no knowledge of that stuff. |

Actually that information is all stored in baseitems.2da. Only problem is that any changes here would affect all items of this type, so while a wererat's claws should be finessable, a dragon's shouldn't. Hrm... discovering some interesting things here that I'll be posting about in the builders forum... |

According to the SRD, natural weapons are always considered to be light weapons. |

Doesn't matter what the SRD says in this case. If we change them to be light weapons, it will impact on every single monster we have on the server that has creature weapons, so its not something we can consider changing directly - although there may be alternate solutions. Changes would also affect any PCs with creature weapons. |

I do understand that changing all creature weapons to light would mess up some current creature-player's builds. But I don't think there is anything wrong with a dragon using finesse for his claws, because the player would still be investing in Dexterity, which would ICly mean that particular dragon is quite agile. But again, I wouldn't want to see players getting upset because their current builds would be made obsolete or slightly broken by a chance to all creature weapons. Is there a way to create -new- creature weapons of a 4th type perhaps? Sorry, I don't know anything about the toolset except making areas. |

Because any creatures that have feats like power attack that rely on larger weapons would no longer be able to power attack. But Ceremorph has made an interesting suggestion about creature weapons on the builders forums that may just give us some options for making creature weapons a lot more interesting and useful. We will have to see what comes of that discussion and if we can find a good way to implement it. |
