Some funny things... Fake or true...? I know my PC will never install Dragon Age Inq , regardless. Source: http://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comme...ith_denuvo_drm/ As a warning: Don't install games with Denuvo DRM on your SSDs (self.pcmasterrace) submitted 17 hours ago * by cardeck So this text is basically a 1:1 copy of a post by facepunch user Korova: "Resource monitors for RAM and CPU consumption numbers, memory viewer for trying to figure out what makes it tick and track address issues, SSD analysis tools for those delicious dead blocks and data tracking. Wanna know average number of times parts of LotF exe code are fcked around between RAM and HDD in the span of one hour? 150000 copy/write iterations. That's about 10000 times more than usual. DRM constantly decrypts the game code into the memory and encrypts it back. This is the most bull**** usage of encryption software I've ever stumbled upon. And even though code chunks are quite small (couple of kilobytes per go at worst), they are all stored in one memory block. And playing the game for 4-8 hours(depends on SSD quality) means that you can say goodbye to that block." Source: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index...5#post-3599880 So check your install folder for Origin games. You might want to switch over to your hard disk drive with spinning iron plates instead of sacrificing the life of your solid state drive too early. Denuvo is also used by "Lords of the Fallen" and FIFA 15 so far. I think a lot of games will follow. Actually, this would be a good time for crackers to circumvent this protection method since Denuvo will actively destroy hardware over time. I am waiting for the first complaints and lawsuits due to destroyed hardware caused by Denuvo. Sony should probably put some money on the side for those lawsuits. Source: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index...5#post-3599880 For anyone that isn't following this thing, Denuvo is a DRM that encrypts and decrypts itself while you play the game so it's extremely difficult to crack. If these numbers are true, SSD users are fucked and it isn't doing anyone any favors with their normal hard drives. New information has come out From a russian forum: "The game's read\write operations per 40 minutes resulted in 30 GB of data processed. The number of operations done is insane. SSD's wear level hasn't changed though, however, the load is EXTREMELY high, so after, say, 100 hours of gameplay memory blocks will definitely start to wear down." Screenshot before/after: i9.pixs.ru/storage/5/1/2/855315e479_7456270_14771512.png Games that use Denuvo Dragon Age Inquisition Lords of the Fallen FIFA 15 Let's hope the list doesn't grow any longer. |

Yeah, you see. They have to do such extreme things because we are all dirty filthy pirates and the game companies loose gazillions of dollars if they don't take such extreme measures. ![]() But good to know. None of those games were on my radar, but ill keep an eye out for this DRM in the future - any that have it will automatically be blacklisted, just like those that used SectureRom back in the day. |

Yeah, sad story that we don't like putting up with broken games on release and mobile game micro transactions in single-player games. ![]() Just another reason I won't get anywhere near Inquisition then. \o/ |

Eh, I'd take this with a grain of salt. In my experience, it's actually not an issue with Dragon Age: Inquisition. I've installed it on an SSD and looked at what my drive was writing. I don't have a screen shot (I can supply one later tonight, if you want), but others have reported the same thing. Examples: http://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comme...uvo_drm/cm6udlm ![]() ![]() I can't say if it's an issue with Lords of the Fallen or not, which is the game people are claiming writes 30 GB of data in 40 minutes or so. But, even Denuvo claims their DRM doesn't constantly read / write, as said on their FAQ.

I'm not saying I'm for DRM, but I don't think factless claims help the situation. Solid facts of it harming consumers is going to push publishers to remove it, like what they did with the DRM in Witcher 2 when it was causing performance issues. Wild claims is like saying DRM causes cancer, which really helps no one. EDIT: I keep looking into it (because I want to make sure a game won't harm my system), the developers claim this isn't DRM and it just makes it so people can't mess with the .EXE file. The DRM for Dragon Age is Origin. http://forum.bioware.com/topic/519257-denu...-dai/?bioware=1 |

If Witcher can make a game without protection and make a profit, and they are even making 3rd game, so can every other distributor. And indeed i will Not give a penny to DAI project precisely because of forcing such or any junk on PC. CD Projekt RED Atari And as for a game it self, it became like Call Of Duty , nothing like tactical rpg it was in DAOrigin. Same thing happened to Splinter Cell... I feel like we game buyers should have our say so in this and similar protections, and gain some rights with it.Everyone remembers what fiasco Ubisoft made with their drm..And ... what not.. I am sure there is massive amount of people feeling the same way,and i am voting for "filthy pirates" to crush and expose their junk of protection. ![]() -- EDIT nacist claimed and even made a video convincing rest of world how everything is in piece , there is no monstrosities and stuff..I have right to choose, and i choose against. |

Can't agree on the respect for Atari. It was their decision to make Mysteries of Westgate encrypted, thereby delaying release, adding unecessary overhead to the game, causing problems for modders, and thereby ensuring there would be no further official content. |
