As i recall, the new creature weapons come in different sizes, and will be granted based on the creature size. So a small creature will get small creature weapons and a medium creature will get medium creature weapons.  So those who get medium CWs should be able to power attack.  Those with small perhaps might be finessable - depends if the finesse list is hardcoded or not (think not, but Rapier is in there.... so something is hardcoded).

I'm sure Cere can clarify.

golem fists are medium and the golem is large. power attack does not work. ^^"

Power Attack ~does~ work, it ~always~ works
regardless of weapon size. It just doesn't work
~correctly~, in that since a medium weapon to
a large creature = a small weapon to a medium
creature, you can never wield it in two hands,
much like a human can't wield a dagger in both
hands.

Power Attack's double effect is based on whether
you're wielding a weapon one-handed or two. So
you ~are~ gaining -3/+3, so it is ~working~, but
you ~should~ be gaining -3/+6.

For clarification.

it doesn't work cause if the weapon is smaller than you, you get +0 damage while power attacking. thats what we mean doesn't work. in fact you activate powerattack with a smaller weapon you lose the -3 to hit and gain 0 to damage.

Wraith Touch Doesn't work with Weapon Finesse, you can get an unlimited amount of them, and you can sell the Umber Hulk claws and bite for 300 a pop.

We have a post that says please send exploits via PM to staff, not publicly announce it on the forums.

Anyway, we hotfixed that yesterday. New creature weapons are now tagged as plot, and therefore cannot be sold.

Huh. That's weird. I distinctly remember in
tabletop 3.5 you could power attack with a
dagger all you like, you just wouldn't get
double the attack penalty in damage.

NWN2 ≠ D&D... or NWN2 ≈ D&D

I'm getting that sense more and more, that
I can't just take my assumptions from 3.5e
and assume Bugsidian made a faithful rules
representation.

i confirm what said above: you get the power attack to-hit penalty without the damage bonus.
tried and tested with an iron golem char.
nwn2wiki confirms this: you cannot powerattack with weapons of a size lesser than yours.

Yes, one really shouldn't assume that. Not only are there bugs, but a lot of things where changed knowingly to be better suited to the medium of a videogame or because they are just badly done in PnP (Ex: Rolling HP)

It's important to remember that Obsidian was not trying to create D&D3.5, it was making a D&D3.5 videogame that was as fun as possible, not as faithful to the source rules as possible.

They didn't screw up nearly as bad as Bioware did with NWN1, where just about everything in the game had some kind of bug, yet suprisingly enough it's more popular than NWN2.

If your a large creature fineasing a medium weapon such as a bite attack, does the swashbuckle class work with said weapons?

insightful strike works with every finesseable weapon + unarmed strike (which is finesseable).

It should but I had done a previous test with a werewolf on the same premise and it did not work, even though it should seem that a bite was fineasable for the creature .

and the new weapons may not fall into this category of being allowed

I'm not sure of how this was set up when this playable race was made, but in PnP all forms of the werewolf are medium.
We rode on the winds of the rising storm,
We ran to the sounds of the thunder.
We danced among the lightning bolts,
and tore the world asunder.

Hi Ceremorph!,

I've been testing the creature weapons on my winter wolf. They're a lot better than going with unarmed strike that's fore sure! While paying 1,000 coating them in silver was a bit pricey for my lvl 5, it helped loads with mauling wererats to death.

I'm on my 2nd upgrade to my set of denchers now, while i certainly welcome the added power to my bite, I have to wonder if I'll ever see any +1-5 enhancement mods. More damage is always great, but I'd much rather use a +5 dagger than a +0 great axe.

Will it ever have a +5 mod? Am I better off leveling him to 30 as an enchanter, get the final teeth set, enchant it, then relevel as a fighter? Is there some way to pay Fang a blue diamond and some jink to enchant it for me?

Missing out on +5 is huge. At best its a -25% chance to hit. At worse I'd only hit some mobs on a 20 that I'd otherwise be hitting on 15-20. I'd really like to avoid taking druid levels just for magic fang and jagged tooth.
