I meant Phase II of the summons project. Phase I is working on balancing the standard summons. Phase II is Gate and Epic Gate, while Phase III (which someone else might be handling) is the Planar Binding spells and Phase IV is class-specific summons.

The rest of what you wrote made me think of an elemental-based class PrC somewhere down the road.. but for now I'm working on this and don't want to get ahead of myself. Once the entirety of summons is taken care of, THEN I'll worry about my next project.

We ran to the sounds of the thunder.
We danced among the lightning bolts,

Fair enough!

Is there any estimate on when this class would be ready to roll out? Even just a ballpark of into which Quarter it would be released would be appreciated, but I also understand if you do not want to not say anything that would be considered a promise rather than an estimate.

Yes please! Elemental Savant would be amazing and thematic. I would remake Mareth
to use it, guaranteed -- especially if it gains the ability to pierce resistance to your
element like it does in tabletop <3

From This Thread: "New PrC, the Demonologist - Ceremorph"

Does that mean this PRC is live?

Demonologist pet is ridiculously strong at the moment, i do not agree with this at all. Especially at lower level. jeez

Sure it takes up a henchman slot. But for a non-demonologist henchmen arent worth the money and risk at higher levels imo.

Ide say if the pets will be kept this way, at least penalize Demonologist heavily with the spells they can use.

Jambi, can you please verify that you're getting the correct low-tier summons, and which alignment you are? It should either be:

Phlegethian Erinyes
9 HD (4 Outsider, 5 Ranger)

or

Incubus
9 HD (4 Outsider, 5 Frezerker)

Also please provide what it is you feel is "ridiculously strong" about these summons.

Also please provide what it is you feel is "ridiculously strong" about these summons.

A level 12 running around with a 180 HP Canian Erinyes, wich also even can be buffed to topping over 30 AC, i think is a bit rediculous. I seen one clean a 5 man party frost salamander GC spawn out all by itself without even coming close to being hurt. while the whole party lay dead on the floor.

Where a normal level 12 character will be desperate too get enough Jink together too pay for a piece of equipment.... or safe up for a level 15 henchman, that doesnt even come close too a Demonologist pet.
A demonologist could just go out unequipped, and make piles of corpses staying back and let the summon handle it, and laugh on the way too the bank.

Level 15~ demonologist unlock the new pet.
Nessian Erinyes.
This time 30 ac, and able too buff it up more.
Whopping 225 Hitpoint.
Crit dmg  , and an AB and dmg output that just cuts thru most stuff like butter. No problem cutting thru Silver / Cold iron DR's.

Overall, you put a normally leveled PC of level 15 - any class against one of these... they will get demolished by the Nessian Erinyes. Ive seen it happen, when they bugged out and gone wild...

So in my experience, not only the Pet is way too powerfull to be equal too a PC of that level. But also the fact that the pet master him/herself can also spam spells and be a functioning spellslinger. aka supporting you pet with spamming buffs on it, and spam Isaac's.

But too be fair, i am not sure how Demonologists scale at higher levels. 20+

TL:DR
On low level 0-~18
Demonologist can level without having too spend a penny.
Demonologist gets a free pet, that is more powerfull then other henchman affordable/available at that level.
Demonologist itself is a functioning damage output source. ie isaac's.
Demonologist inherit base class allows them too protect their henchman from harm. ie Mind-Affecting buffs.

Other classes will most likely have to resort to re-visiting lower areas over and over too grind loot, too get a full set of equipment too allow them too hunt at their level range. Wich is in my own example.
Having too spend 3000 Jink for a half-decent henchman, wich has 2 uses. Is simply not worth it, with crashes or server downs, transition bugs.

Ofcourse, some classes are stronger then other classes at a given level. But i do feel that demonologist is just way too much up there.

Maybe summon duration needs dropping instead?

Please, do not get me wrong. I am not trying too rant or anything, or throw a tantrum.
But how it is at the moment, its not much fun.
A Party's hunting ground should be picked on what the PC's can handle, and not the pet's strenght. ;)

Sounds like Jambi has a point, and the erinyes summons need to be toned down a bit, particularly the low- and middle-tier ones. I would like to hear some feedback from someone with a Incubus summon (NE or CE) as well.

What could be done, as said is tune the pets a little more.
Or perhaps restrict the class too sorc/bard only, so the demonologist has too pick their spells more carefully, either more spells to buff the pet up and less offensive spells or vise versa.

Needing too pick school of conjuration, also makes a bit of sense. Since demonologists i guess need to have good training in conjuring stuff up. And in effect limiting the amount of buffs they can give their pets, wich results into a slightly weaker pet. But that could be worked around with, using wands instead i suppose. But that would rule out bards.

Anyways its way past bedtime for me. Ill take a good night sleep, and perhaps tomorrow ill come up with some others ideas too help out :)

I just have a quick question about the Demonologist.... Is a Warlock with The Dead Walk able to become one? Just curious, as it could be thematically cool to make a Hellfire Warlock who is also a Demonologist....
Probably most known of my characters:
Mira'shuul Aenslande - Half-celestial near-mute Eldritch Theurge
Shera Derlian - WIELDER OF FAE MIGHT!
Tiffany 'Tiny' Titanic - A little girl who happens to be a BIG Iron Golem
And a few more....
