Sorry for the double post. Wanted to bump this for a new question. Whats the deal with Creature Weapon feats? Which work, which dont? I'm reading the wiki page for Creature Weapon Specialization and despite being a golem, after getting weapon focus (creature) I now have access to the specializiation. Am I wasting feats, or will these apply? Thanks. |

Yes, all of the creature weapon feats were unlocked and do work, including the possibility to qualify for Weapon Master and have creature weapon as your Weapon of Choice. |

Sorry for the double post. I've got another question. Is the Assassin class viable on this server? I guess that basically means were there any changes to poisons? Are they more effective, last longer, etc.? Thanks. |

Poisons are practically worthless against many enemies. Fiends tend to laugh at poison and most proper foes have absurd fortitude saves. They might help on occasion (and in pvp, although that is rare). That said, Assassin is a very viable PrC. I usually take 9 levels of Assassin with my builds to get access to Greater Invisibility and 5d6 death attacks (which actually work on the rare occasion as well). I have played a Sun Elf with 16 Rogue, 9 Assassin and 5 Invisible Blade. She was very stellar, relying on Epic Dodge, Mirror Image and HiPS to survive. A lot of reliable single target damage. Bleeds suffer from hard DR here, though, so it is very reasonable to pick something else (like 5 Mage Slayer if you want to try surviving without wands while getting nifty SR and other benefits). Better yet, Assassin costs virtually nothing. The requirements for the class are skills you would take in any case. If you don't mind playing a good character, Slayer of Domiel does everything Assassin does, but better. They get Improved Evasion at level 10, making Epic Dodge easier to pick. This is good if you are a dual-wielder and short on feats. Death Ward is a superb spell for a rogue and Bless Weapon helps to overcome fiend DR. Also Greater Invisibility. I would build something like 13 Rogue/2 Fighter/10 SoD/5 Whatever You Want. Domiel is better with Mage Slayer because Bless Weapon compensates a little for not getting to use Holy Sword. Just one blade, though. Moreover, if you are playing a sneaky character, you might be tempted to pick Crippling Strike and Epic Precision. However, the Erinyes at the Great Bazaar (Jezebel) sells Ruin weapons, which allow you to Sneak Attack Nasty Things. Better yet, the ruin property is a feat. So you can have a more powerful main hand with a ruin off-hand weapon while dual-wielding. I recommend having access to wands of Holy Sword so that you can have the ruin weapon enchanted with +3 hisspiric regen and Blind (weak CC that works almost everywhere) in addition to the Ruin quality. Those are cheap to buy and make, so you can have several ruin weapons for your needs. Should save you even more feats! Which is good because there are some mandatory ones, like blind-fight. And all the dual-wielding. And potential class requirements. (Holy Sword gives you +5 enchantment bonus vs. all enemies and 2d6 vs. evil, which bypasses Fiend damage reduction. It also sticks to your blade as long as you don't switch it out. Handy. You need a lot of UMD to activate it, esp. if the weapon is expensive. Fortunately, the ruin weapons are not.) |

Wow, thanks for all the information. But the thing is I like to play unorthodox classes and weapons. I was thinking of running some kind of crossbow-wielding rogue assassin. I really love crossbows in games. Whats your opinion on crossbows in this server? |

Added some more things. I think you can make crossbows to work, especially if you hit and run with HiPS. You will do considerably less damage, though, so it might be more of a niche RP build. Maybe not something to bring to Gatecrasher Carceri, but fortunately there are difficulties other than GC. Crossbows will definitely be weaker than regular bows, though. Partially because you'll be limited to four attacks/round. |

Bah, bows it is then. I wish this server had the crossbow sniper feat that Kaedrin puts in his mod. |

Alas! I recall Mr. Vyse has also been pining for crossbow snipers. It sounds like a very good character concept. And potentially a fun build. If you want to do an assassin with a regular bow, I would recommend 21 Ranger, 8 Assassin and Tiefling. Or maybe 9 Assassin if you want to play an ECL+0 race. Free archery feats and Bane of Enemies are delicious. Especially since you will be fighting Outsiders and Undead most of the time. Favored Enemy is a powerful thing indeed. And tracking. (Also be sure to align 21 ranger with an epic feat level to make sure you can pick Bane.) |

My pleasure o/ I suggest investing some ranks in craft weapon so that you can make your own DC 30 arrows. They are very handy. Moreover, try to get a Gnarlthorn Bow for leveling/grinding in Limbo/Abyss. It's reasonably good and doesn't waste any precious arrows. |

Oh, one last question. Are traps ever any good? I actually already made a Kobold ranger just now, but I'm thinking of redoing him to get the Craft Weapons feat you mentioned instead of traps. |

I'd get craft weapon instead of traps if you are short on skill points. Being able to set traps might allow you to utilize traps sold by player merchants, though. I have not used traps much, alas! I suspect they will be a nice touch, at least. A trap + sneak attack multishot barrage might do wonders. Also consider investing in Iron Heart 1. It works wonders with Multishot. You will not miss the AC. *nod* In other words, I recommend investing in set trap instead of crafting traps, if you want to try them out in game. Can't promise they'll be especially good, but I think the epic traps should do something, at least. |

Krystelle manages nice things with a chu-ko-nu crossbow. She has no range feats, but the fact that it grants manyshot means she can apply her death attack dice twice, because Obsidian. :> Granted, a flame volley could also do that and makes its own arrows. So, your mileage may vary. |

So I just got assassin on my kobold ranger, but.. Do death attacks work without rogue levels? I can't seem to initiate them. |
