Hello everyone, I'm new to the server and the overall nwn2 persisten worlds (I've just played with a friend nwn/nwn2 on local), its probably a thing that I've should have tried earlier but never got into it until now, so hopefully this will be my first and last server I try. I write this while I download the so the expectations are high! heh. Some might know me already cause I was ranting like a madman in the chat asking things (I tend to rant a lot...). I hope to don't screw it up much with my english, so if you see running around looking like he is mad or has no idea what he is doing, that would probably be me, hehe. Anyways, nice to meet you and see you ingame or around here. |

I am also one of those silly people who just played local co-op through the campaigns with friends forever for years and nothing else. I had like 500+ hours played just doing that before I ever joined a PW. My advice? Take UMD. Cross-Class it if you have to. Don't repeat my mistakes. ((Also: shouldn't there be an Introduction Thread somewhere? Is there even one? O.o)) |

Welcome welcome! We did already exchange a few words, but I figured to reply here as well. New player experience in SCoD can be somewhat bitter sweet, that is players are generally nice and helpful. But also there's quite the learning curve difficulty to really get started. I've made a couple of different guides that can be helpful to get started. http://z13.invisionfree.com/nwn2planescape...post&p=22760525 But without forcing you to read a long guide, here's a quick rule of thumbs: 1) Exception of starting equipment, initially don't buy anything from NPCs unless it's:
3) regarding 1f; get a hired thug in the Hive Ward. Doing starting quests should earn you enough gold from the get go to get it, though you might need some help finding them. 4) Ask player merchants (people in bazaar with bunch of chests infront them in Bazaar) for prices of their items, you'll probably be positively surprised. |

Couldn't find a post about that, maybe there is one but i gave up to look for it in the 1000+ topics that exist after a few pages xD. Also thanks for the info (both of you) I have the feeling that I'm gonna need to read a lot before I start playing because I just got inside created a char and I was like "humm this is very different". |

Welcome to the server! So the one recommendation I'd make is do not make your first character one of the high-ECL races, as it can be very challenging to level them. Also, and I'm sure this is somewhere in Otyugh's guide, explore the city and find the starter quests before you go diving into an adventuring area. You'll have the chance to earn 2nd level and over 1000 gold at very little risk to yourself just from these quests, making your character a little less squishy when you do find yourself in Undersigil or the Slags. And talk to people! Even at the lowest levels, falling in with a group of other lowbies (or even rebuilds) can make the difference between gaining one level and six levels in an evening's play. Hope you enjoy yourself! |

Heya, and welcome o/ I also recommend talking to people. If you have questions about the setting, it may be wise to play a character who is not familiar with the answers. Like what are the Factions? Why is that lady called a Sinker? Maybe one of your character goals could be asking several people about the Factions (or something else that's got you thinking). It's a good way of learning about the setting and getting involved. You might even get to hear some conflicting perspectives. Few things have clear, well-defined answers in the Multiverse. Of course, we're here to help with lore questions as well, but learning things in character can be very rewarding (and a nifty excuse to go meet people). If you're the type to think about your build in detail, it's good to familiarize yourself with what's available to you (in terms of gear, classes and abilities) and what you are up against (areas, monster abilities and so forth) before expecting things to work smoothly. We also have a section for build questions on the forums, should you need a hand there. Like Ceremorph mentioned, high Effective Character Level adjustment races can be difficult to play at first because ordinary builds to not always work well with them. Moreover, there are some races that are especially good at some things, while being abysmal at others. Some of these are not even obvious. Like the Inkubus/Sukkubus (heh) looks like a wonderful Charisma-based caster, but their low total level makes enemy Spell Resistance very difficult to pierce. And almost everything has SR here. Moreover, their low Character Level (only 22 and then the +8 adjustment) means they will be vulnerable to Greater Dispel Magic, making them less reliable as buffers. Similarly, all giants probably look pretty tough, but their high ECL adjustment reduces their available Base Attack Bonus (and thus the number of attacks they get) drastically. That is a thing we're trying to fix presently, but it's something to be aware of! We also have a wiki that's a fairly good resource on how races and abilities work here. Something to look into, if you have time. When I'm being lazy, I usually just google "nwn sigil wiki + the thing I want to search". Eheh. Like "nwn sigil wiki Gatecrasher". Here's a link, though: Hello, I am a link. |

Feel free to prod me with questions and other things! Yes, hello. I also play Abigail Weir. | |

Hi! Welcome welcome. I don't know if this has been linked, so here: New Player Guide/FAQs. Is your account name the same as your forum name? |
| Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run, but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant. | |

My char name is the same one as in here yeah, but I was too sleepy yesterday to read anything so I just got ingame after it downloaded and now the char its utterly lost, so I might create a new one unless I find a map with a "you are here" lol. EDIT: I found my way back to the bazaar thanks to Miraie. Now I just need to make my game in english or I'll go crazy playing with things in one language and another. |
