I logged in and got the message that my character had gained a level. I had not died or used Styx.
I took the level given and gained two feats.
I took Improved combat expertise and one that can lower the oppents AC with their CON bonus (at least 3 points of AC). I do not remember the name of the last feat.

However the feats does not show when I inspect my character.

You might have hit the level cap. For Vampires Level 24. If you reach level 25 you get the level up screen but afterwards nothing applies to your character.

Oh! Oh. So you got a level via login exp? In that case, it may have been level 25 you took - and level 14 fighter. That would indeed give you two feats. But because you are ECL+6, your max level is in fact 24 and you were reverted right back to your original level.

Edit: 'tis definitely as Alersia said it. 24 as 13 fighter doesn't give you any feats, but 25 as 14Ftr sure does! Alas, 'it is a level that will be forever out of reach as a vampire.

Well something is weird. I was maxed out. Level 24 and all.
If it does not give anything then why was I given it?
Well after leveling I am 24 again...
*shrugs* Perhaps it is just fine then, but still WEIRD.

I have this problem with christopher, my half celestial doomguide cleric/doomguide/paladin harmonium lol. He is capped at level 26 but every time i log in with him i get to take a level that just doesnt stock haha, but i still take it every time.

I play:
Miranda Ildesserin-"You have no idea what fear is, the greatest fear a mother can have is that of her child growing up...alone"
Eisinar Mindblade: Illithid Soul Knife: "As long as I have my mind, i am never with out a weapon".
Xil'ar'ran'oss-Beholder Psion:What do you mean "IF" looks could kill?

It's probably a workaround. In other words, it was not possible to limit your max level to 24 cleanly, so you get a script that takes your latest level away if you go beyond your max level. Every character with an ECL adjustment runs into this problem eventually. Only ECL+0 people get to sit at 30 contently, never getting a level they cannot take!

Yes, our level caps are all scripted, so its theoretically possibly to "accidentally" pass them and then immediately be reset back to last level.
Do not hesitate to send me a PM if you:
- Have questions about building, or joining the Dev Team
- Want to join or start an event for the Mercykillers, Fated, or Signers
- You have been waiting more than 2 days for me to post in an IC forum thread

The worst part is, instead of stacking up an RP XP pool for an eventual rebuild? ECL races just lose it all one day's worth at a time. Keep playing a 24th level vampire, and your pool runs out without you gaining anything for it.

Actually no... as long as you don't level up, those points keep accumulating, you just don't see them. The whole mechanic where you can only stockpile points up to the edge of the next level... that's actually only scripted as part of the level-up process. So if you don't try to take a level you don't have, you will be able to have all those excess points banked for your pools if you rebuild.

No, you'll be able to access half of them! Remember, the XP that you get on login is 1/4 of the XP that you had before you rebuilt -- the other 1/4 went to double XP from combat, and half disappeared.

So by reapplying that pool, and putting it through the Oarsman again ~next~ rebuild, you're still losing half of it.

I would rather the login script checked your ECL before it applied XP that you can't use.

I mean that you won't be getting those amounts of where the script drops your XP to if you keep leveling, but instead what's still being stored in your .bic file.
