Ah'm making ah character right now who's ah 2 handed power attack build tha wears plate an ah caint seem ta get the AC up ta 48ish wit jus plate an buldin wit class levels/feats. Tha race es Mountain Orc an ah'm decidin between goin; Vampy 7/ Fighter 8/FB 5/WM 7 er Vampy 7/FB 5/Fighter 15 - fer Epic Spec/Focus an Epic Strength + Combat Maneuvers - Guess ah could do few levels ah Stalwart in tha build.. but vampy an stalwart seem mostly ta sorta overlap. Righ now et aint too bad in tha low ta mid level areas wit tha AC. But ah learned on my Druid when ah was levelin her.. where less than 48 AC er lackin some sorta magic an ya might as well jus nah wear armor in tha late game places on tha server. Even wit 10/DR an 4 Regen ah tick an vampy enchant on weapons an even wit ah huge HP pool... tha lack ah AC's gonna jus get ya killed despite all tha extra stuff. Ah'm pretty sure even hittin 48 AC jus keeps ya from gettin surrounded an insta gibbed in like tha maze an Carcie. From wha ah seen ah'm still gonna take hits pretty regular... but ah outta be able ta pull out survivin wit ah little finagling. Ah'm already plannin on spendin tha 2 regular an 1 epic feat fer tha +4 dodge an another epic feat fer Armor Skin ta get +1 Nat AC. Wha ah got so far fer numbers... +8 platemail +1 Dex +5 AC Enhance (Enchant on Armor er Bracers) +5 Deflect (Cloak Enchant) +10 Dodge (+5 From Monkey Boots/+1 Tumble (Outta ah class skill fer tha builds)/+4 Feats HA-Opt line) +7 Nat (+1 Vampy Bonus/+5 Enchant fer Neck/+1 Armor Skin Epic Feat) +10 Base =46 AC total so et aint bad... jus need tha +2 AC outta somewhere. Didn include tha Dodge Feat cause ah aint really much concerned bout jus survivin one mob. An ah'm aware ah can jus get ah enchanted T-Shield... an net +9 more AC fer 54 total. Tha'll get me where ah need ta be fer AC... but ruins power attackin. Commin up on stumped here. But ah sorta figure there's ah answer fer low ECL 2 handed fighters in late game survival an ah jus don know wha et es on tha server yet. Ah'm gonna hope et aint jus use UMD ta be Wizard Jr. an shuck jink fer scrolls an wands. An ah don think any ah tha 2 handed viable ECL 0 races give ya additional AC? Ah know there's some small races but tha aint gonna work. Any ideas er welcome. Sorta strange here goin from my cloth wearin Druid bein ah AC monster by castin ah few spells ta tha plate clad warrior spendin multiple regular an epic feats ta scrimp every last AC an still comin up short...

People usually go sword n' board, two-hander life is a rough one. Good build though, I considered a similar class set up myself :3 Remember you might want to snag a few ranger levels for favoured power attack (outsider). What you want to do is find someone who can tank for you or blind/stun/daze/paralyse/etc the enemies so you can employ your damage without being murderised. Two-hander is never a build for soloing. |

Two-handers are notoriously piss poor at survival, especially alone. My main has 46 AC without a shield too, and it really isn't worth much once you reach late-game areas. The only way I can see you increasing it is... +4 Shield Wand, +1 Improved Mage Armor Wand, +1 Haste. That, or you can use Monkey Grip.

2-handers only work if you got so much other AC that it doesn't matter. But...well, you likely won't. Go sword & board. It's not worth doing more damage if you die all the time. |

10 base+1 luck of heroes+9 plate+20 items+4 shield wand+1 armor skin+1 tumble+4 epic heavy armor opt=50 ac for simple 30 fight,dip in class with tumble=52 ac some 0-2 ecl races with bonus ac: Half ogre with 3 lvls of prc=+2 ac so 54 total Killoren +1 ac for 53 ac Bugbear +2 ac for 54 ac Lizardfolk +2 and another +1 with 3 lvls of prc for 55 ac Simple 12 fight 10 defender 7 wm 1 sd on human = 56 ac Some builds can make much more with 2handed weapon, but if you got good dmg and 2 wands(mirror image+displacement) you don't even need that 50ac. |

What you're building is what I call a "reaver" (WM / FB 2-handing build). Reavers are not tanks. Reavers are -all- about offense. Your main defense is killing things before they can hurt you too much, because you have the highest DPS possible in the whole game. That said, you do have a few other defensive options available. Luck of Heroes is an -amazing- feat. Potions / wands of IMA, Shield, Displacement and Mirror Image can give you short-duration umph, and with the speed at which you kill stuff, short duration is all you really need. |

You sacrifice defense for huge damage if you go two-handed. You can still get AC higher but it's better to use alternative methods of protection, such as displacement and mirror image are two examples mentioned. edit: oh and it's probably better to always carry a good shield just in case you need a little extra, combat expertise too much you sacrifice damage obviously |

If you have the intelligence for it, Combat Expertise and Improved Combat Expertise can be in this way. Just as sword-and-board character can switch between wielding their weapon two-handed and using a shield at an expense of damage, your two-hander can, against more dangerous foes, swap out some AB for the same (but you'll still do your crazy power attack fueled damage, so yay). The downside being that a lot of thresher builds use Int as a dump stat. But considering that here, having the minimum score needed for CE and ICE (13, although of course you should go 14) opens up some other feats to you, as well as giving you skill points to spend on important cross-class skills like tumble and UMD. |

Only idiots dump int for fighters I always have the 13 dex 13 Int rule for building them and if your going weapon master its a requirement. The proper stat to dump is Wis. Wis does nothing for yah. And a small feat tax of Steadfast Determination fixes its one major down side. As a fighter you should have at least 14 con if not more And yes to trully play fighter all round ICE and learning when to switch from power attacking and going Sword board and Ice is pantamount. |
