Create Undead Or Summon Monster?

So my toon Shade is running around with a staff that allows him to Create Undead once per day and Summon Monster VII once per day. Since he has necromantic might he's really getting a VIII monster.

Thing is that lvl XIII monster doesn't seem to be nearly as good as the Create Undead monster.

At lvl 13 Create Undead creates a lvl 15 cleric mummy lord versus something like the VIII Devourer. (4Undead/9F/3 BG) But that Mummy Lord seems to bulldoze enemies while the devourer seems to sit there and chomp for a while, while taking damage.

The Mummy Lord makes his knock down attacks while the Devourer seems to miss most of them. Meanwhile the Mummy Lord lasts a turn per lvl which is 13 turns at least. While the devourer vanishes after 2 rounds per lvl. That's a third of the time. Or with necromantic might I can get the devourer as a level 7 spell and it lasts 3 rounds per level, which is half the time.

So why go Necromantic Might? When a 6th level spell can carry you through till you hit Create Greater Undead?

The Devourer is mostly useful against good aligned enemies because of it's bonus damage and smite good. It's true that the mummy lord is stronger against neutral or evils and can heal you, so a very good summon over all.

Necromantic Might lets you get the incredibly strong entropic reaper as an eighth level spell though, and the death tyrant as ninth which can wipe out almost any enemy on the server.

Death tyrant will be fixed to "not bybass immunities".

All summon VIII creatures are a bit underwhelming but I take a look at the mummy lord again.
