I recently started playing on SCOD. I started playing the Soulknife. I looked into the class features and there are a lot that sound really neat.

I start with a Tiefling, because that gets me 2 stats that I need (DEX & INT).

What I started with:

STR 10
DEX 18
CON 14
INT 18
WIS 10
CHA 10

Background : Veteran - screw this 1 diplomacy.. 1 fort is fuckin superior

for feats and selectible class features:

Code:

      class feature      feat
01                            weapon finesse
02
03                            2-weapon-fighting
04
05
06                            improved 2-weapon-fighting
07
08    evasion
09                            skill focus : concentration
10
11
12    mind shield        greater 2-weapon-fighting
13
14
15                            combat expertise
16    improved mind shield
17
18                            great fortitude
19
20     (reapers blade / improved enhancement / powerful strikes)
21                            epic prowess
22
23                            great dexterity (x2 if we get an epic bonus feat??)
24
25    (epic mind shield / reverberating psyche)  (perfect 2-weapon-fighting / epic fortitude)
26                            great dexterity
27                            great dexterity
28
29                            great dexterity, combat insight

The sad thing is, I can't get epic dodge without losing all the neat Soulknife features. I also considered going 3 into swashbuckler for double INT damage on normal strikes.

I actually don't know if there are any custom epic feats i would be eligible to. But now to the thing I am not sure about:

Reaper's Blade sounds really nice, but will you actually slay that much people that you will benefit from it? Do I need to do the killing blow to get the effect? If so it'll make it a feature that depends on luck a lot.l

Improved enhancement, well +1 hit and damage is always nice isn't it?

powerful strikes : 1d8 damage more is good if we don't need the +1 on hit. but do we even get focused enough to utilize this? (here i wish more indication on my character, like "psionic strike" when i hit someone with it and "psionically focused" when the focus reapplies)

epic mind shield : with 18 starting int and a +6 int headband we could actually get to the +9 cap

reverberating psyche: secure 3d8 damage on the next round I hit with psychic strike. BUT until no dice are left makes me curious. Will it go like 7d8 first round, then 3d8, then 1d8 or even 7d8, 10d8, 5d8 .. if you're lucky enough with your concentration checks you could burst the shit out of things in the first 3 rounds.

perfect 2-weapon-fighting : will we ever be able to hit something with a -25???

epic fortitude : just improve the screwed fort save.

That's what I thought about.. maybe skill focus on concentration is shit.. but I think it's a good feat to ensure to get psionically focused as much as possible.

For PtwF the point is more chances to roll 20s for the auto hits

Reaper's Blade needs you to land the killing blow.

Item enhancement bonuses go up to +5 here, so it's usually recommended to aim for odd-numbered stats.

Reverberating Psyche goes 7d8, 3d8, 1d8. Though if you are taking it, I strongly recommend taking Powerful Strikes, because then it goes 8d8, 4d8, 2d8, 1d8. Powerful Strikes effectively becomes +1d8 per round, for 4 rounds.

Good to know that item enhancements go only up to +5.

So I guess i would go for powerful strikes here.

On the epics i'm still not sure. I think i'll see how much survivability i need. Too vad that I cannot pick both as a tiefling:(

You can get both, and more. I just noticed you didn't note them, but you get an Epic Blade Skill at level 22 and 28. (No epic bonus feats though). So in total you gain three Epic Blade Skills. I'd suggest Epic Mind Shield, Reverberating Strikes and One Thousand Cuts, since you're not bothering with CHA. (Note that if you want, you can pick a normal Blade Skill instead of an Epic one)

oh i totally overlooked the one at 22. but 28 isn't listed on the wiki page.

I thought really hard about 1000-cuts and doesn't sound as good as reverberarting psyche. But since i'm not going for strength of my enemy, it's the only thing i can do.

How the the exposure stacks actually work? I hit 2 times, add 2 stacks, consume them and do 1 damage with it? Or do they stack up to a cap and every subsequent hit will deal 1 damage per 2 stacks.. last one would be nice. especially for a DEX-build.

Wiki fixed.

They stack up infinity, with no cap, and are never consumed. The more hits you do, the more damage each hit does. First hit will do 0, second hit 1, third hit 1, fourth hit 2, fifth hit 2, sixth hit 3, etc etc

I've always been skeptical of non-sneak non-ranger dual wield builds, personally. I always find the damage for them to be far too low unless you have a set of great weapons and/or WM.

But then again, majority of what I play are DPS' so I'm a bit of a snob in that department.

I imagine you could get okay damage with the stacking damage thing, but in the end it'd only be a small amount of extra damage from what I can see.

EDIT: Also, you're missing blind fight. So good luck hitting anything in the higher level areas like carceri, where everything has 50% concealment. Also, why great fortitude? And Skill focus concentration might be nice for psychic strike, but with reapers blade it's fairly pointless since it will never wear off before you kill something. (Ideally) I'd replace both of those feats with blind fight (definitely) and probably two weapon defense.

Also, you need to make sure your int is at 19 base so a +5 item puts it to 24, otherwise you won't get the full +9 possible shield AC from the mind shield feats, and it evens it out as well as gives you more damage from Combat Insight. And speaking of Combat Insight, taking it at 29 is a waste. That's a fairly large chunk of your damage there, as a dexxer. You want to take it right after Epic Prowess, probably at 23

True, non sneak dexers are always weak, but i wanted to try something new, i've been playing max sneak builds waaaay to often.

Yeah, I guess it's only good on opponents with shitloads of hp. (bosses, whatsoever)

Blind Fight is a blade skill, usually i take blind fight on every auto-attack build. Fort is the SKs worst save and i consider getting a bad save up always a good idea.

2-weapon defense doesn't stack with mind shield, which is generally better. i don't really understand what you want to say with reapers blade. why would it never wear off?? I think reapers blade is only good for soloing, when you can be sure that you get the killing blow, otherwise the chances to utilize this blade skill is minimal.

Mick already said that item ench. bonus is +5 max, so i go 1 into int anyways. i'm gonna rething the stat progession anyways with this info.

that's the plan, i did this as an example in the middle of the night in a haste. of course you pick a damage buff as early as possible :)

Ideally you want to plan to get the killing blow, though. And frankly 2 fort isn't going to make that large of a difference. And personally I always try to go for more damage, that blind fight is going to eat a chunk out of your possible weapon stats.
