so.. i wanted to do a waretiger barbarian fighting in hybrid form with "Mighty Rage" so abilitys cap out at +12

now from reading this from the NWN2 wiki

Quote:

The ability cap refers to the maximum bonus applied from all magical and bonus effects. In NWN2, only the highest strength effect applies, wearing both a +4 belt of strength and a +2 ring of strength would give +4 strength, not +6. (The same is true for other abilities as well, such as INT, DEX etc.). The exception to this is Barbarian Rage, (not spell Rage), which stacks with other ability bonus. Bonuses from the Great Attribute feats (e.g. Great Strength) and the Red Dragon Disciples attribute increases are considered natural attributes (they can be used to meet pre-requisites for feats, they stack with bonuses with items and they don't count towards the +12 cap).

There is a literal ability cap for all effects that modders should be aware of. The ability score cap is +12.
Another non-ability cap to be aware of is the dodge AC cap, which is +20 - dodge bonuses stack, and there are many in the game.
As for the cap on Ability Scores themselves, NWN2 has a hardcoded ability score cap of 50 (+20 modifier). Any score above 50 will not work properly and will, in most cases, be treated as a score of 50.

now i assume that I could go with example of 28 STR when in hybrid form.. and have a +4 str item to boost it to 32 which give a total of +11 ... now saying that could I push past that with Might Rage from Barbarian? giving me 40 STR with a effctve +15( hoping my math aint failing)? anyhow just curios if its possible to acheave that with my idea?

P.S. i hope im making sense as im a bit tired at the moment

Hybrid form isn't what NWN2 wiki seems to call a "natural bonus", AKA something permanent, that can be used to qualify for feats, therefore it doesn't stack with other "non-natural" (I usually call them Enhancement Bonuses) bonuses, such as items or spells. Barbarian Rage is an exception to the rule in that it's a "non-natural" bonus that does stack with other "non-natural" bonuses. It's the only one like this in the game.

On top of the above, you can never get "non-natural" bonuses totally higher then +12, even with rage. So if you have say, +10 from an item and +4 from Rage, you'll still only get +12 to STR. In the same way, the druid spell Owl's Insight caps out at +12 for this reason.

On top of this, you can never, under any circumstance have a characteristic higher then 50.

Yea, it works just fine. Barbarian Rage stacks with things like +5 strength rings or Bull's Strength spells, up to +12 (+6 modifier) via buffs, and up to a total 50 (+20 modifier).

Actually, having over +7 strength from rage is kinda' pointless given the ubiquitous nature of strength enhancement equipment.

so.. from my understanding from Mick64 the Ability benefits from hybrid form are "magical" like EB not a feat... so that would make sense if so I was wonerding that, but dont have any experience from the PrC so now I know.
andWhitefly i was wondering if i could stack waretiger's hybrid form with rage ability and have full beinits.. but, if what Mick64 says is correct (which i assume is from two others i talked too aswell) I wont bother with the idea of Mighty Rage in waretiger hybrid form.. either way I dont think im gonna chance it, it was just a thought I had in my mind and wondered if It's possible to pull off.

thank you all for answering my question :) it helps alot

Generally speaking if it shows up on your character sheet as a green bonus to that attribute, it does not stack. If its greyed out, then it usually stacks.

But Barbarian Rage is an exception to the green rule :P

Anyway Drafty, you can rebuild your character with no loss of xp or additional grinding for the next month(ish?), so if something doesn't work as expected, at least for a while you can fix it easily. It's nice to get presents from Cere :3
