Hello! I'm Vist, I'm new, and currently I am playing a Samurai. Most that I've talked to say this is a horrible idea because they're not the most optimized but I like the RP and don't care about min-maxing so :D. Anyway, as I've played (for about a month) I've noticed a few issues. I've mentioned 'em in Discord, and it was suggested I make a forum post, so that the Builders and folk can keep track of these issues. So....here it is! Character Information Current class levels: 22 Samurai, 1 Cleric, 1 Fighter Race: Human Possible Bugs and Issues The Level 20 Samurai Feat, "Frightful Presence," does not appear to do anything. The description of the feat is as follows;
Having had this feat for ~2 levels of grinding now, I have seen that it has had...no effect. I assumed that it worked similar to the feat "Iaijutsu Master," which gives +AB per CHA Bonus and an Extra Attack for 1 round, upon the first round of battle when a Samurai engages a new enemy (I notice this bonus triggers after a new Initiative Roll is made). However, after 2 levels of grinding, I have not seen any indication of "Frightful Presence" ever being triggered--enemies do not make any Will Save rolls, nor are there any kind of skill triggers that seem to be related to "Frightful Presence." Things you have tried to fix the problem: I'm...unsure as to how to fix this, to be honest...I'll experiment around as I get more ideas. As I said before--I'm new to all of this. The last time I played NWN2 was waaaay back in my teens, so I'm re-discovering the mechanics. This is the first persistent RP server I've joined for NWN2 so, yeah. I apologize if I'm misinformed on something or wind up missing something vital. Update : Someone informed me that most of what requires Samurai to be effective is to "Juggle Swords," That is to swap katanas at the end of each round. I've been trying it out for awhile now, and it seems to be the only way to get "Fearful Presence" to trigger. I uhhh...guess that's something? Seems pretty silly to do, though. Now to the next somewhat tricky issue... Samurai Feat "Mass Staredown" does not hit multiple enemies if the feat is focused on a single enemy (indicated by said enemy being highlighted red and the "cone" locked on them.) This issue isn't too bad, as I've found a way to work around it, but it's tricky. The feat "Mass Staredown," which has an AoE Cone, will not target multiple enemies if the feat is focused on an enemy--that enemy being selected, and highlighted "red." In my time with this feat, I've noticed that the only consistent way to get multiple enemies to be targeted by it--as in, having them make a Will Save roll--is to activate the Feat and then position the "cone" to an angle where it selects multiple enemies, but making sure it is not targeting and highlighting a specific enemy in red. It's a bit of an annoyance, but I've gotten used to using the Feat like this. Although, while I also come to think of it...sometimes even when I do not have an enemy targeted by the Feat, sometimes it does not trigger to all those within the cone. I haven't tested it too much--I just notice that I consistently "hit" more enemies with this feat if I do not have it focused on any specific target. That seems to be the only way to consistently get multiple enemies to trigger a Will Save vs this feat. Spell/ability can be targeted (if the range is anything but personal) yes--having it target a single enemy seems to be the root of the issue. Spellcasting/ability using animation... fires/does not fire.: It fires, but not consistently to everything that's targeted. Visual effect... fires/does not fire.-- When feat does trigger and the target fails the Will Save, the visual effect (looks similar to the spell 'Doom') does trigger. Spell/ability results... fires/fires partially/fires sometimes/does not fire: Fires. Has anyone else tried and/or managed to reproduce this issue? Not that I know of. Samurais don't seem to be a popular choice on this server. Edited by Vistern, Nov 12 2017, 01:39 AM.
