a public forum group system could make way to replacing the wiki, hear me out here? The forums here have a group system that some could be publicly joined in on. by creating a forum group dedicated to collaboration of information, to make suggestions and alterations, could replace the wiki in full and directing full attention to the forums. This will bring traffic and encourage others to make an account on here. And the wiki is able to be altered any anyone, which makes it a issue some what especially with factions and their stance on things. Besides the wiki is rather outdated as no one wants to bother really, not all know how to make a wiki article, but most should know forums. ![]() This is just one use I was able to think about with a public forum group in place. Overall, what are your thoughts on the matter in a general context? |

One last bit I wanted to add, but I could not due to me not able to edit my post is, player-homes are mentioned on the forums, but those who avoid the forums wont know where to look on the wiki without knowledge of it. It has lead to confusion in the past. Many wont know the awesome features scod has to offer without the right questions asked with the wiki up. This is one of the many things about the wiki I dislike honestly, due to peoples natural tendency to avoid forums. And we are kind of spread out a bit resource wise to be able to manage both the wiki and forums. That's just how I feel tho, about the situation. Sorry to turn this into a "I dislike the wiki", but its mainly due to short on hands and a lot of upkeep. |

We used to be forum only, but with the amount of custom features & different builders/scripters, it just wouldn't work anymore. It puts too much strain in the hands of few, where as wiki is theoretically accessible for everyone to expand and fix as is. Also there will still be people who aren't enthusiastic about forums either, so we're going to be having no real advances on that front if some people are opposed to wikis, since some are opposed to forums as well. Added benefit of wiki is that it's much easier to really format into solid form compared to forums, especially now that doHTML is no longer available, which too was a hassle to use, but allowed some nifty features. |
