Not sure what I want to call this build yet so i'll just call it TJ for now. I'll change the name at a later date. :chug: Since I was laid off mid-december I've had some time on my hands  So between taking care of my daughter and getting ready for Christmas I found some time to start designing a new cage. This is my first time designing a cage so please be kind. After staring at my two other TJ's, I knew I wanted something different. Posted Image So here is what I came up with. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image I know what changes I'm going to make for the final cage, I'll keep you posted. here's a "just for fun shot" Posted Image |

Thanks guys, I'm glad that everyone seems to like the design. This is just my mock up cage made from styrene, I wish i could braze that good. I figured that by making it out of styrene I could change things around if I didn't like it. Now when its time to build the real cage it would be much easiers |

Time to list off the parts I'll be using. First off I'll be using a custom chassis built for the New Bright TJ. Bought this frame from a buddy. I'm sure some of you will recognize the chassis. Posted Image Posted Image I've had a set of rc4wd T-rex60 axles sitting in the work shop collecting dust for some time now. Now is the time to use them:mrgreen: Next I'll be using a GD600 connected to either a rc4wd killer t-case or GCM Racing t-case. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image That is all I'm saying for now. :nana: Edited by Jester, Jan 8 2010, 06:18 PM.

I'm using RC4WD scale heim joints for this build, when it came to making the links i didn't want to mess around with cutting and tapping tubing unit I knew what I wanted the wheel base to be. I didn't want to waste my time cutting down threaded rod and using traxxas rod ends either. So since I'm sitting on a pile of styrene tubing ( different sizes) I thought I'd put it to use. I'm using 6/32 rod ends so I used 3/16 tubing. The rod end cuts its own thread into the styrene which made it easy. So I just cut some tubing down to the lenght I thought I wanted and gave it a try . It worked out pretty good. So just like my cage these are my mock up links , unit I'm ready to start tapping tubing. The two heim joints on the left are 3m thread, I just put them there for people who don't know what the rc4wd scale heim joint looks like. Posted Image Posted Image that was my little trick for using the heim joints:beerchug: |
