I lost at Salvation 124. At least that's what the record will show but in my mind I went out there and stood toe to toe with one of the most highly decorated men in this industry today and I more than held my own. On multiple occasions I was in complete control of that match, the fans were behind me and the momentum was clearly in my favor. Then I made a mistake. Sorry folks I'm not gonna apologize for it. I've missed game winning free throws too and I was an 85% free throw shooter throughout my high school basketball career. I'm still learning, and the mistake I made against Angel Blake is one that I'll work hard to correct, but one I can't say for sure if I'll make again or not as I go through this journey learning on the fly and improving every single time I step into the ring. There will come a time though when I won't make mistakes or at least they'll be rare, be them simple ones or the big match costing ones like last week. When that time comes I'll be up there being talked about with Angel Blake, Captain Howdy, Dante Saffron, and the dark horse Abel Essex as the frontrunners to win the Redemption Championship. I wasn't ready for that but I still gave it my all and almost beat one of the biggest names in the business. I certainly don't feel like a loser after that performance. When one opportunity slips away though another emerges. Some might see this chance at the Classic Championship as a consolation prize for failing to get out of the first round of the Redemption Championship Tournament but I'm not one of those people. I see it as a chance to prove that I have what it takes to be a champion on any level. There are some young hungry competitors and a couple of established veterans hoping to be fighting for that belt at Reloaded and I refuse to take any of them lightly no matter what they have or haven't done in their careers. To get to Reloaded though I have to defeat Landon Dalmon and Alister Valca. I understand that technically I don't have to defeat either of them, I just have to not get pinned but I've never been the type to be satisfied just doing enough to get by. When I was growing up my Dad taught me, only as Jake Keeton could say it, to “never half ass anything”. My Dad was a do as I say not as I do father also and I know he half assed a lot of stuff just to get ahead at times but I don't have it in me to not give 100% in everything I do whether it's checkers or wrestling. What that means is I'm not treating this match any different than I did last week when I nearly upset Angel Blake. Thing is though, neither one of my opponents are Angel Blake. We've got Rapey McSisterbanger and the legendary Mike Phoenix’s star pupil. Just in case some of you have a hard time catching on to sarcasm that was some right there because Mike Phoenix is no legend and Alister Valca will never be a star. Last week I told Angel that he was better than me, neither of you are. On first glance some people might see some similarities in us Alister. Young, good looking rookies just trying to make it and prove we belong. Whether you belong or not is yet to be determined but I know I belong. I was born into this and to do this, it’s not something I just decided I wanted to do one day. I apologize for insulting your trainer earlier, he may be a great guy and trainer for all I know but to compare him to the three guys who had a hand in my training is like comparing a Kia RIo to a Lamborghini Aventador. Nothing wrong with the Kia and it’ll get you where you’re going but no one is going to pick it over the Lamborghini. I have no ill will towards you Valca and hope you have a long successful career but your first big break won’t come at my expense. Landon, you’re a disgusting piece of shit aren’t you? You’re a spoiled rich kid who has had everything handed to him and you’re the epitome of everything I strive not to be even though I very easily could have been. I come from money but I chose to work for my own. The sad thing is to be as deplorable of a human being as you are, you’re an incredibly talented wrestler and you’re far more of a threat than Alister. I’m not taking either of you lightly but I’m for sure more concerned about you Dalmon. Not saying I think you can beat me because I’m confident that I’ll be fighting for the Classic Championship at Reloaded but I have a feeling you will too. Then again Valca could fool us both and leave one of us out in the cold while he’s fighting for the title. Nah… October 17th 2016- JC Keeton, fresh out of the gym in his sweat stained gray tank top and blue shorts walked back towards his apartment on this incredibly warm October day for Chicago, The afternoon traffic in the part of town he lived in was a lot lighter than normal making his walk much quieter and more peaceful. He’d forgotten his headphones at home so he wasn’t listening to music as he normally did while walking and could even hear birds chirping and it reminded him of being back home in Kentucky. As JC walked past an alley he stopped briefly and listened to a sound coming from a box by a dumpster. JC: What the hell? He began walking towards the box and the closer he got the more clear to him what the sound actually was became and he picked up the pace. He kneeled down beside the box and opened it to find a baby inside. The hungry, upset baby was wearing only a very old full diaper but JC didn’t hesitate to reach in and pick it up. He’d helped with his cousins growing up so he knew how to hold a baby and he just held it trying to comfort it. JC: You’re ok...I don’t know why someone would leave you out here like this but I’m gonna take care of you. He walked out of the ally and continued walking towards his apartment now carrying the baby as puzzled passersby showed looks of concern but none bothering to stop.He finally reached his building and went inside and ran up the stairs. When he got to his floor he unlocked the door and went into his apartment before placing the still crying baby on the couch. JC: So what are we gonna do with you little baby? He looked down at the baby as if expecting an answer when his best friend and roommate Max Bennett entered the apartment. Max: That's a baby, dawg. JC: No shit. Max: It ain't mine! JC lets out a slight chuckle. JC: I know it's not yours, I found it in a box in the alley around the corner. I need you to watch it while I run to the store and get diapers and food. Max: Bro we can't keep this baby, we need to call the police or someone. JC: We'll figure that out when I get back, just please keep an eye on it till I get back Max. Max: Ok… JC jumps up and heads out of the apartment as the scene fades. To be continued. |
