The scene opens to three men gathered around a fire burning in an old oil drum. The fire pops and crackles as the brisk November wind whips past and the men rub their hands together over the fire trying desperately to stay warm. A hooded JC Keeton appears in front of the men who pay no attention to the young wrestler. JC takes the hood from the dark blue jacket down and stares into the camera. JC: I could dwell on the fact that I walked into Reloaded as a champion with the chance to leave with a second but instead I went home empty handed. He pauses as a gust of wind whips past causing the flames behind him to rise. JC: I could, but I won't. I have no control over what happened that night now and there's nothing I can do to change it. What I'm gonna do is refocus my attention on what's ahead of me instead of looking back. Things I do have control over like this Point Roulette and the man who's sleaze ball of an agent thought it was a good idea to call out myself, CG3, and Captain Howdy. JC laughs and shakes his head. JC: John Doe.. Are you really stupid enough to think you have any chance at all of surviving with Captain Howdy? You're a big tough guy there's no doubt about that. You're a fighter, it's what you do and it's the only thing you've ever been worth a shit at but you don't know James Jacobs. Physically you'd probably hold your own with the man they call the Most Dangerous Man in Redemption. It's the mental part where he breaks you, he broke my father by almost taking away the most precious thing in his life. JC bites his lower lip and exhales, the warm air leaving his lungs causes a smoke like cloud to roll into the night sky. JC: ME! His voice echoes through the dark alley startling the three men who wonder off to look for food or beg for money. JC: He almost lost me, John. As in I almost died. I hate to keep rehashing this but I was dying of cancer and I needed life saving bone marrow in order to have any hope of survival. The only match.... the only match was Nadia Snow, my aunt who would later become Nadia Snow-Jacobs, the future wife of Captain Howdy. He dangled the bone marrow in front of my Dad in order to get a shot at my Dad’s PWA World Championship, which he easily won. He won because my Dad was a broken man and nothing mattered to him but saving me. He was never the same. The mental warfare that you go through with Captain Howdy has turned incredibly intelligent men into quivering idiots. Image what he'd do to a feeble mind like yours. He puts the hood back up as a gust of wind smacks him in the face before continuing. JC: You should thank me for saving you the torture that you were begging for by challenging him. I'm sure you're too fucking stupid not to continue to pursue a match against that monster but I'll have no part of it. Call me a coward all you want but if you can't understand why I will never face Captain Howdy after the story I just told you then you'll never understand it until he's destroyed what little mind you have. JC walks over to the fire and stares into it. The fire dancing in the irises of his eyes. JC: Since we've gotten that matter out of the way let's talk about me and you and what's gonna happen this week. 15 points.. I see old pitstain himself Larry Slade wasn't confident enough in your abilities to agree to the 30 points I originally offered. I don't blame him, he's just protecting his investment. He knows that you're a mindless toy that he can wind up and send into battle with anyone and everyone and you'll never question what he asks you to do. He also knows that there's a reason I've been as successful as I have. I'm a blue chipper, a star in the making. You're a novelty act that he'll toss back into the gutter as soon as he finds a new cash cow to latch on to. That's probably hard for you to hear John but someone needs to say it. JC turns his attention to a noise behind him and sees a huge rat run out from under some trash bags. He looks back and smirks. JC: Kinda fitting, a rat hiding behind a pile of garbage. Just like Larry and you John. I thought by coming out here and experiencing your element I'd find some newfound respect for you but all I want to do is go home and shower. I don't need to live like a bum, I'm not gonna respect you either way because you have no respect for yourself. You talk about “Ol’ John Doe” not being very bright like you're proud of being a… what's the politically correct term? I think Howard Stern calls folks like you slow adults. Well I hope you're ready to lose a few more brain cells because I'm planning to do my best to put my elbow through your skull. Maybe then you'll find a new career as a member of the Wack Pack because I'm about to show you that you have no business in a wrestling ring with me, much less Captain Howdy. JC walks out of the scene as it fades to black. |
